Idea for an Enchanter (squishy AP passive support)

Hello everyone!

As you might have noticed, the support role is the least numerous in game, and althought there were some supports in the past... they were... well... they don't really feel like a true support to me. Yes, its nice that you can engage and dive between enemies, but thats not really a supports job, is it? Maybe thats why Rakkan, Bard and Pyke are "Catchers", not "Enchanters". (as classed here: http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_champions)

Looking at the League's Fandom wiki, we haven't had an Enchanter for a while. Well, for 6 years to be exact (last one was Nami in December of 2012) and so, my goal is get a thread going with ideas on a new Enchanter, and who knows, maybe a RIOTer will notice and will consider making a new one. Even, if a new champion designer is assigned, it would still be huge deal for me, and I believe for my fellow support mains too, that after 6 years we would finally maybe get a new champion to our pools (I personally sadly don't enjoy this TahmKench meta)

Before I start, I should explain my idea of an ideal support to you so that you get a better grasp of what am I getting at. Not a diver, not a catcher, not a tank. However, one of those squishy supports that stand by your ADC and protect them from unwelcomed kitty cats Rengar Khazix or another mean people trying to kill them, or one of your other allies. Definetly not an agressive support that relies on diving in the enemy team while teamfighting. Something could fit into the group of champions currently enhabited by Nami Sona Janna Lulu Karma Soraka .

Regarding the visuals or place in the world of Runeterra... haven't thought about that yet. I do miss and owl like champion thought. And I don't think that golden warrior Queen Setaka(? not sure with the name right now, lore masters know who am I talking about), who imprisoned the Darkin would fit a support role.

So, for a few of my spell ideas...

PASSIVE

While you are ingame, you know that you can zoom in and out right? And you probably knew that all champions have the same maximum zoomed out distance. Well, since devs are toying with new elements (like Pyke's shared gold on kill for example), why not give a support champ a wieder area to look at? If this champion's kit would be vision based, this would make a great passive in my opinion.

Another interesting and out of the box passive would be the inability to hit living beings (neutral monsters or enemies). That would leave only wards, turrets, inhibitors and nexus as possible targets for a basic attack. This could lock him as a support and balancing could be easier.. maybe not thought. I am not a professional and might oversee some issues with this. (another variation could be: This unit can basic attack only when no allied champions are nearby)

Third and final idea for a passive that comes on my mind could be some sort of vision over walls. Most of champions today can jump over walls like kangaroos, so a support that can tell them what exactly is there would fit right in. Wheather this would be a cone vision in the direction the champion is looking while standing next to a wall, or clicking on a wall and getting a vision around it for a while with a large cooldown on given wall (kinda how Talon's jump works) could also be a nice one I believe, althought that might fit better as an E spell.

Q, W, E

What I miss from today's support pool is a pure debuff spell. Yes, there is a DMG debuff on Sona's W when she hits enemies with it, but thats kinda all that comes to my mind. Some form of a pure debuff, wheather it would be adaptive DMG or HP or Mana or Energy Regeneration (When hit by this spell, HP and/or Mana and Energy regen are lowered by X% for X seconds). Again, I see the issue here with champions that have neither mana or energy, but that can be removed by only lowering the HP regeneration.

Another interesting thing would be stealing. Not kill stealing, thats not what support is supposed to do (althought we have Pyke for that for some reason) but HP, Gold or Mana stealing. My idea of this spell is that you have two casts. First starts to list through all the possible things you can steal (like Twisted Fate's W). Once you find the one that you like, you press it again and release a skillshot that if hits, gives the stolen goodies to nearby ally, or the champion itself if none are in range.

A form of crowd controll should probably be in here, albeit brief, it would still be effective. Even a slow (movement speed debuff from the first ability maybe?)

R

Here, I thought about a large crowd controll spell (no need for damage). Maybe a huge circle that when placed, tries to pull all enemy and ally champions towards its center. That can be used to disturb enemy positioning in a teamfight, or to catch up to and enemy champion that is currently escaping you and your ally.

This thread is however not about my ideas only, but also about your ideas, so share them! As I said, there hasn't been an "Enchanter" for almost 6 years and I am desperate for a new one, and I hope, that this thread will help with getting at least attention to this problem from some RIOTers. Thank you all so much for your time, and I will see you on the Rift! :)

EDIT: I am of course open to a constructive criticism and all opinions would help me in further developing this champion in my mind, or with future creations of my own!

Your ideas here are interesting :) some may not be feasible in the real game, but it's better not to limit yourself by thinking about what could be balanced or not when you're in the idea phases.

As for a pure debuff spell, what about one that would make the support in question specifically good at countering mages/high mana characters.

It could be a point and click or a skillshot, but what happens is the affected enemy has a large portion of their mana burned away over a few seconds (like 25% max or something) that then returns to them after a few seconds. It would work kind of like a silence, but less toxic. Basically if you know that syndra, veigar, orianna, brand, etc, is about to use that big ultimate spell, you can burn their mana away to stop them from using it for a few moments. Or maybe even another pseudo-silence spell that gives an enemy a debuff that makes their next spell cost like 300% more mana. They could still use it, but it would be a big risk.

And sticking with the theme of stealing/removing stats, you mentioned the stat steal ability. Perhaps it could be a skillshot, like a karma Q. When you first activate it, you can flip through 3-4 different stats. (AD, AP, HEALTH, MOVESPEED?) and then fire the ability. When it hits an enemy, it steals a percentage of the selected stat. It then gives a buff of the selected stat to any allies in an aoe around you.

So you could select AD, fire it at their front line bruiser or assassin charging at you; reduce their AD by 15% or something and give that 15% as a buff to your team.

Both spells fit the spell of not being purely for damage, but still hurting the enemy and helping your team. I think the one that increases the mana cost of the next cast spell could be interesting. It would give the enemy a choice: cast their now 300 mana ultimate in the hopes it will kill, or save your spells until the debuff expires to be safe.

I've been working on a champ that I think u will like

I've designed many support champions that take a unique spin on the vision game, I think ur idea is fine but I think u can b more creative. Also Quinn's W already exists.

Regarding ur ideas I'm not sure a champ with no damage would work very well, most of the community wouldn't like and Riot probs won't do it.

In terms of stealing things b4 they are used I'm sure Riot won't do it either, it's hard to code and wouldn't feel fair to the enemy, a silence is better

I think u can design a better out as it's basically Ori's out on a larger scale with no dmg.

Come up with a theme that will help u
