Riot and Advertisements
No, this isn't about Riot advertising LoL, this is about monetization. A lot of the topics I've read lately have to do with money, be it for skins or charity, whatever.
Thought a moment ago, how insane would it be to see advertisements in LoL, such as on the launcher or in-game, loading, anywhere. Then I thought, WHERE THE HELL IS OUR COCA COLA VOLIBEAR??
That was an object of discussion years ago, and I believe the answer had to do with copyright infringement, but the player base was nowhere near what it is today. Every year the statistics grow. Why hasn't there been some sort of partnership with large corporations to be able to have things like Coca Cola Voli?
I get it. It's a disgusting idea to most. Everyone hates ads, especially when they're shameless.
But I challenge you to go to the largest urban area near you and NOT find someone wearing a Monster Energy hoodie, college t-shirt, beer cap, or game related all of the above. People love to wear advertisements. Because those things are cool, right?
Think about Monster Warwick, if CocaCola Volibear wasn't enough to sell you on. Or Alienware Cho'gath (oh wait...). Chicago Bulls Alistar. Nike Singed ("Chase me, Just do it.") Dodge Braum. Calvin Klein Jayce. Google Zac.
If nothing else, it's fun just thinking about champion-corporation matchups.
