**LORE **
*Born to a royal line of sky wyverns, the crippled Vytzal was only destined to bring shame upon his family. With barely one functioning wing, the royal family knew it would be a matter of time before the strength of their rule was questioned. *
*When he was only a baby, Vyztal was cast out into the storm – a liability to be disposed off. Vyztal fell for countless days and nights before plummeting into the icy wastes of the Freljord. The damage from the fall had taken its toll, Vytzal could barely walk let alone fly. *
*All hope would have been lost had not a goat farmer
found the little prince, out a lone in the barren
tundra and nursed him back to health. With time the prince grew.
This new world fascinated him, its smells, its people its creatures so unlike the one he remember, perhaps there was a better life for him here?
But Vytzal always found himself dreaming again of returning to the skies. *
But should he ever return, he may not find himself welcomed…

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION Vytzal is part of a race known as the Cloudborne, a legendary tribe of nomadic cloud wyverns. Vytzal is a vaporous dragon with crippled wings. His features are light, crisp and aerodynamic. He is covered head to tail with a cloud-like down. His wingspan is incredible compared to the length of his body. His right wing is standard length but his opposite wing is decrepit and feeble. He has a ribbon like tail, wispy shoulder feathers and bright eyes. He has a display “crown” of feathers around his face signifying himself as a royal member of his race. He is primarily white a cloud but as his mood changes he can range from a pure white to a stormy grey. Furthermore, as a cloud being, light refracts as it passes through him occasionally giving him a rainbow hue.
Not being used to terrestrial walking/running, Vytzal stumbles over himself as he begins to move. As he gradually picks up speed, getting ready to fly Vytzal tries to flap his wings to help him stand up right. When flying Vytzal laboriously flaps his wings to try to stay airborne. Visually his movements should look physically taxing as he’s trying very hard to overcome his disabilities. He has a jovial gait and is playful in demeanor. When he is able to engage in high speed flight, he moves with his wings outstretched gracefully, occasionally spiraling and flipping to show the joy of flight. He is followed by a pair of winding contrails.

#CHAMPION INSIGHTS : The Joy of Flight/ Adding Game Mechanics Flight mechanics have always been a fantasy of mine when it comes to LoL Champions. Sure there are characters capable of flight but no champion truly delivers the flight experience. Why is that?Quite simply it would involve adding new mechanics to the game – and would be incredibly difficult to balance such mobility. I set out to design a champion that delivered the joy and freedom flight could bring to the rift. So the question is forwarded. What constitutes as “flight”? What are the advantages? What are the disadvantages? What champions could benefit from mechanics that allowed “flight”?
After much consideration I developed the following.
TRUE FLIGHT – *a mechanic state that gives the unit the illusion of flight. Grants unique movement and utility based properties. *
#1) Movement
- #Can move freely across terrain
- #Cannot exit the map perimeter
#2) Vision
- #Flying units have vision over nearby walls
- #Enemy units always have vision of flying units within their max vision field

Fly units can't see into or enter bushes, appearing above the bush instead
#3) Targeting by attacks/ abilities
- #Cannot be harmed by melee attacks or spells
- #Reduced damage from area of effect spells
- #Can only be crowd controlled with collision based skill shots and targeted abilities
- #Turrets prioritize flying units
#4) True Flight ends prematurely when the unit is interrupted, snared/rooted, stunned or knocked up (Can't conflict with Rule #3)
CHAMPIONS THAT CAN BENEFIT FROM “TRUE FLIGHT”
Leapers (Aatrox, Shyvanna, Khazix etc.) – as a group they could enter the “True Flight” state briefly at the apex of their jump, which may grant vision or avoid attacks.
Quinn/Valor – allowing Valor to enter “True Flight” after being out of combat for X amount of seconds would give Quinn even more roaming potential while enriching the theme of the champion; creating a starker contrast between her forms while giving her more utility based power.
Galio – a possible buff could be given to his** W- Righteous Gust** allowing him to gain temporary “True Flight” for surprise initiations over terrain.
#So what of the champion?
Vytzal was designed to take full advantage of this “True Flight” state. I wanted players who played him to be able to emphasize with him. Vytzal is a creature of flight that had his greatest gift taken away from him; similarly players will have to overcome his statistical shortcomings whilst pursuing the flying fantasy. I believe it’s this clumsy union of skills that lets players seeing through Vytzal’s eyes as a hopeful apprentice of flight.
Hopefully the kit/voice over makes the player yearn for the skies as much as Vytzal and has joyful as he is when he takes flight.I hope this influences other forum comers to push the boundaries of their concepts and not be afraid to get their hands a little dirty to give their concept wings!
PLAYSTYLE
- Vyztal is fast. Very fast. Vyztal is squishy. Very squishy. Players will quickly realize that Vyztal breaks all rules when it comes to mobility, being the premier hypermobile champion on the Rift. Vyztal’s playstyle revolves round his amazing ability to not only quickly traverse the battlefield but allow his teammates the same liberties. With a unique mix of zone denial and crowd control, Vyztal is adept at tailoring the landscape to his team’s advantage and fighting a battle on multiple fronts. Vyztal requires map awareness, precise timing and a whole lot of creativity to be played effectively!*

#ABILITY KIT
Vytzal’s abilities have no cost related to them and their use is limited only by cooldowns. His secondary resource bar tracks his unique mechanic FLOW. Vytzal can have up to 100 FLOW. Vytzal generates 1% of his maximum FLOW with every 70 units he travels, requiring a total of 7,000 units-traveled to obtain maximum FLOW (Roughly from Nexus to Outer Turret). FLOW does not decay or generate idly. As FLOW generation is based on distance traveled, it is also accumulated while dashing, teleporting or when displaced by crowd control effects.

Passive: Vytzal’s attacks charge allies nearby his target with Turbulence granting a stackable movement buff for 2 seconds. While nearby allies with Turbulence, Vytzal can activate** Favorable Winds**.
Active: Vytzal rushes forward damaging and knocking enemies aside. The Turbulence buff is removed from the targets of Favorable Winds. Targets have their movement speed doubled for 1.5 seconds
Bonus Movement Speed Per Stack (Max 4) : 5 / 6 / 6.25 / 7.5 / 10

W – Cloud Sprites
**Active: **Vytzal summons two Sky Spirits to accompany him for 10 seconds. He may fire each of these spirits independently creating a 150-unit Tradewind at the target location damaging enemy units within the initial explosion. Afterwards Vytzal and his allies can interact with the Tradewind instance(s) for various effects. ***Tradewind ***dissipates after 4 seconds but has its duration increased by 1 second for each unique allied champion that passes over it. Vyztal will consume any Tradewind he passes over it restoring 15 FLOW while consuming it.
- Allied champions are propelled forward 400 units upon passing over a Tradewind.
- Allied champions can only dash once per instance.
- ** Vytzal** gains True Flight upon interacting with Tradewind , consuming the instance in the process.

**Active: ** Vytzal summons an incredible wall of wind to drive back his enemies. The wall travels forward displacing all enemy units in contact with it as it moves. If the gale pins a unit to a wall they are damaged and stunned for 0.5 seconds.
- Affected units are not considered disabled and are free to move as well as activate spells.
** Projectile Width: **150/ 175/ 225/ 300 / 400-units ** Physical Damage: ** 80 / 125 / 170 / 215 / 260 (+70% AP) **RANGE: 850 | COOLDOWN: 15 | COST: 75 FLOW **
#R – Racing Squalls **Active: ** Vytzal surges forward in an arc with a fixed distance in the targeted direction, before orbiting back to his original position. Vytzal massively slows enemy units he comes into contact with for 1.5 seconds. Vytzal has True Flight over the spell duration and may reactive Racing Squalls to end the flight prematurely. Vyztal can his abilities while Racing Squalls is active, altering his flight trajectory or basic spell properties.
- Activating Favorable Winds causes Vytzal to hover midflight, allowing him to basic attack for up to 2.5 seconds before resuming flight.
- Passing over Tradewind morphs it into an impassable 225-unit radius ***Squall *** for 3 seconds. Units caught in the Squall at the time of formation are suspended and knocked away from the center of the vortex, taking magic damage. Only one ***Squall *** can be active at a time.
- Vyztal reverses direction upon casting **Mighty Front ** in his direction of travel

Proper use of Touch of The Cloudborne passive is key to mastering Vytzal; as his playmaking is gated by his interactions with his teammates

Vytzal is very quick around the battlefield; however reckless use of his abilities can give him without a way out. Furthermore is effectiveness is greatly diminished without the presence of allies to make use of his passive.

With proper positioning,** Cloud Sprites** can be used to help your entire team clear entire walls! Take that Thresh!

Racing Squalls is the crux of Vyztal’s ability kit. It can be used so scout, catch the enemy by surprise with a flank maneuver or even build up flow for his other abilities.

Mighty Front is a powerful displacement ability when used correctly. The projectile travels out slowly, plowing enemy along its path; however, the ability does not disable enemy units as it act much like a moving wall. This means without proper positioning, autopathing or simple movement commands will sidestep this ability entirely

Vyztal has great base attack speed and benefits greatly from items that a lot him to quickly apply Turbulence stacks amongst his teammates.
#VOICE OVER **Vyztal has a very jovial, excited voice. He is a juvenile of his species, and radiates joy with everything he saids. He is also a bit spastic and anxious due to his disabilities. He is not from our world so he finds a lot of Valoran ongoings odd! **
