@Riot What of Hecarim?

Hey,

I just wanted to address my concerns or moreso my curiousity about the direction that Riot wants to take Hecarim. I know there are a lot of a champions on your company's mind in terms of balance and what not - but its just something that has kind of nagged at me the more and more I look at the champion pool. I want to point out that I love Hecarim I think he has a lot of unique strengths (strong kit for itemization & good base states) but I think he's outclassed by a lot of a other champions in what he is suppose to do. Which leads to...

What is Hecarim's desired thematic goal?

Is he suppose to dive into the deal and cause chaos?

Shyvanna, Nocturne, Rammus, Skarner, NEW Sion, Master Yi, Rengar all approach fights in a similiar manner and pull it off arguably more successfully than Hecarim.

I thought Hecarim was suppose to be the "fast horse, explosive entrance jungler" but it seems like he doesn't even have that going for him. And I'll be honest, while I'm super excited for new Sion, I can't help but look at Sion's new ultimate and think "that's something that Hecarim could have had".

I really am just curious what direction Riot would like to take Hecarim. I love the character, I love the thought of this massive horse running about the field but it seems like there's just not a lot of gameplay space left anymore to make his playstyle unique.

What areas would you like to emphasize about Hecarim? Fear? Undyingness? It seems like an uphill battle for my favorite warhorse. I just hope that at the end of the day Hecarim can earn himself a niche that is truely his own.

My Ideas?

Hecarim = hypercarry+battering ram + thrives on guerrilla tactics/ shock warfare

**Current **Passive Warpath

  • Ignores unit collision
  • gains AD based on movement speed

Reworked Passive Warpath 2.0

  • Ignores unit collision
  • Hecarim gains a flat movement speed bonus when out of combat

Current E - Devastating Charge

  • Hecarim gains 75% movement speed over the course of 3 seconds, starting with initial 25% upon cast, and ending one second afterward.

**Reworked E - **Devastating Charge 2.0

  • Hecarim gains 75% movement speed over the course of 3 seconds, starting with initial 25% upon cast, and ending one second afterward.
  • Once Hecarim has traveled a fixed distance with Devastating Charge, Hecarim knocks enemy units aside for the remainder of the charge

I guess thing I love about Hecarim is his since of inertia. I believe the above changes would make the player feel rewarded for going REALLY fast and feel REALLY fast. Hecarim should be at his best when he's at top speed. Emphasizing this is essential in his kit IMO.

Idk let me know what you think. These are just my ideas. As I stated I'm more concerned with seeing Hecarim getting a niche all his own. For all I care you could make it so champions could mount him and I'd be happy!

I wish Riot would speak more about the direction they have in mind for their champions. They do reinforce unique strenghts, like this patch with Garen and LeBlanc. But we only get to see the end results. Riot should at least promote discussion about the identity of champions, because players like the OP have fantastic ideas about their favorite champion.

Sometimes we get to see some experiments with identity, like lowering Nocturnes ult CD for taking away vision. He is another "dive in and cause chaos" who could get a better niche. The best thing Riot could do is step in threads like this one to say they are interested in player thoughts about identity. I hope a quality post like this gets more response than just comments about Hecarim's balance.

I recently bought hec to jungle with and i regulerly play j4 but wanted to try something new and i notice his sustain in jungle is pretty bad for a good portion of the early game compared to j4. i love that his passive gives him ad for a % of speed he has but another thing i noticed that if ur slowed the extra damage u gain from speed is chopped down signifacantly which blows alot hahaha cuz the speed doesnt give u that great of an ad bonus but its nice to have ofcourse. i dont think any of the jungle items fit him well enouph to use over j4 but still i use him for the "hec" of it ahahah any ways ya hec is my boo lets do something with him.

Hecarim is fine and working. You just need to know to play him. Also I dont if you know, his E allows you to knock people back

Hecarim's fantasy to me is about riding down the enemy team and trampling through their ranks like a horrifying monster. I wish his character model was a little bigger, and I wish his W and E cooldowns were a little shorter.

Besides that, Hecarim is pretty alright, if something of a late game champ. His big issue is that he needs hideous amounts of gold to function properly. Build wise I like the following items in no particular order and certainly not all in the same game. Youmuus, Triforce, Sunfire, Randuins, Spirit Visage, and SotEL is fun for the AOE burning when combined with Headless Hecarim's Fire effects.

EDIT: Anyone know how lane Hecarim is? Never tried it but I heard it saw LCS play awhile back.
