Petition for a Traditional Sion skin

Sion

It has been discussed recently that the newly revised champion, Sion, will not have a 'Traditional' skin when released. Many summoners have felt that the needs of Sion are being met with his rework, but the lack of a skin to memorialize his past would be out of lieu with those champions who have received the same type of massive undertaking to remake a champion. Some of these summoners would like a traditional skin for Sion for sentimental purposes, as he has been since the first days of League of Legends and would like to carry on those memories by preservation of much of his looks and his voice-overs. Others would like to own a champion and get a bonus skin. Nevertheless, the 'tradition' of having a skin that represented a champion's humble incarnation would be in question without one.

Many of us do understand why it is hard to distract resources to make an extra skin that is exclusive to the champion's past owners. IronStylus had said, during the Q&A session on 9/30 regarding the Sion rework, "In retrospect we discovered the return on creating those traditional skins wasn't worth the redirection of resources away from the new base." Even if old Sion could not match with your newfound direction of new Sion, let it be known that many of us summoners actually do not mind. I, the original poster and author of this discussion, do own Traditional Karma and Traditional Trundle. And I do play with those skins from time to time. It may not feel like a match, but in the hearts of those who remembers their champions in the past, it would be hard pressed to separate them from the champion they first played.

As for those who just want an extra skin for being those who are grandfathered into a champion, the issuing of traditional skins are again a tradition. Aside from the memorial justifications, those who can sport a traditional skin states to other champs that the summoner 'has been there since the beginning' and uses the skin as a source of pride and prestige. It shows other champions that he or she has bragging rights. Some summoners may feel a bad taste in their mouths if they are denied that kind of prestige. Many people love to show off, and a skin that makes a statement such as 'I know Sion better than you ever will' could feed that ego satisfyingly.

I invite both summoners and devs in the community to both discuss, advocate or deny a traditional Sion skin below. Please be courteous, respectful and logical when making your arguments for or against the skin. As a last message to the devs responsible for Sion's rework, I thank you for remaking a largely neglected champion and I know you'll make the right decision in making a traditional Sion skin, for both homage to the champion and to us summoners.
