Aatrox Rework (Fan-made)

Hey guys.

I wanted to share a phew ideas I had for what would be cool to see on Aatrox reworked kit (not sure how near/far his rework will be). It would be cool to see some of his lore on his kit (big-battles-warlord), as the now official "darkin are the weapons themselves" theme on it. I tried to make him more of a skimisher than a diver/drain tank, and to have a bit more of skill expression on his W... and fun crazy stuff in his ult Lol.

Im positive the numbers are BAD and they would be changed to work properly, but here is the idea of his new fan-made kit:

>P - Massacre: The darkin blade draw its powers from the fury of the battlefield around it. For each nearby champion, both allies and enemies, Aatrox gains additional 5/7,5/10% attack speed (maximum of 45/67,5/90% attack speed). After being slain, nearby fallen champions still provide Aatrox additional attack speed for the next 6/9/12 seconds after their death.

  • This would add to his “big battle warlord” theme, as he gets really stronger from big 5v5 TFs instead of small 1v1 duels.

>Q – Dark Slice: Aatrox dashes forward, slashing all enemies on his path. Dark slice deals 60/90/120/150/180 (+70% bonus Attack Damage) physical damage plus 8% of their missing health.

  • Visuals: The range/dash would be similar to Wukong’s dash range, more or less.
  • The missing health bonus damage would be there to reward Aatrox to save it to use as an aggressive / finishing move rather than spam it for mobility.

>W – Blood Thirst: Aatrox blade becomes empowered for the next 1/2/3/4/5 seconds (+1 second for every 100 total AD), making his attacks deal 30/40/50/60/70 (+70% bonus attack damage) bonus physical damage. During Blood Thirst, Aatrox receives 15/20/25/30/35 % bonus life steal.

  • Visuals: Something similar to his current ult, but less “flashy” (as it is now a normal, non-ultimate ability).
  • His sustain is now gated during this ability, making him more able to survive dueling. If you want to use it as a sustain in lane, you have to burn the CD. The duration being based on seconds instead of “next X attacks) makes it synergize with bonus AS.

>E – Torment Strike: Aatrox’s next attack unleashes the power of his blade, dealing 75/110/145/180/215 (+60% Ability Power) (+60% bonus Attack Damage) Magic Damage to enemies hit and slowing them by 1% for every 1% Aatrox’s missing health (minimum of 20%) for the next 3 seconds.

  • Visuals: Same spell of the his live E, but now as an AA reset.
  • AA resets are cool! The downside is that he now needs a minion/enemy to use his E, but it’s slow can be way stronger, up to 99%!
  • “It would be useless to have a 99% slow on a melee-to-active skill when you have 1% of health”, you wonder? It would... if Aatrox wouldn’t have this ultimate:

>R – Darkin Possession: When the current host body of the darkin blade is weak, Aatrox will cast it away in search for a new host.

>Darkin Possession can only be cast if Aatrox is below 20% hp.

>For the next 2 seconds, Aatrox becomes immune to external damage as his remaing health is depleted. At the end of the duration, the darkin blade possesses the nearest enemy champion, granting Aatrox control of them for the next 3 seconds.

>Possessed enemies cannot cast any ability nor lose/gain health. They receive the bonus attack speed and damage from Massacre and Bloodthirst, and bonus 20% movement speed while moving toward enemy champions.

  • Visuals: The possessed enemy would have Aatrox blade floating on their heads, like in Kayn’s ult.

  • The HP lock is there to prevent Aatrox from making the enemies hard suicide (“soft suicide” is still possible, I guess), at the same time it would prevent the enemy from lifestealing their health back. The bonus MS/AS is there to reward people who use it as a DPS tool instead of forcing enemies into bad positioning. I’m not sure about how broken this ability would be (maybe too OP, or too UP as people would just kite it), I’m not sure. Just tossing the idea on the table to see what people would think of it.

I love the modernization of his kite, but the ultimate seems like it would be too overpowered, if I read it correctly...

I loved playing Aatrox when I started playing league, but I soon realized I was actually detrimental to my team. I still feel like maybe riot intends to change up his kit even more then what you have said above, because it is too unhealthy.

I acctually had an idea that was similar When the champion died the sword would hurl itself at the lowest health nearby champion, if that champion dies within 10 seconds Aatrox revives
