Taliyah Change Suggestions

Hey Riot, I've been playing a lot of Taliyah since she came out and I really like the champion so far. Not a lot of people are understanding how to work her which is probably why her win rates are so low, but I also feel (and a ton of people agree on this) like she might be missing something. I feel like maybe it's not just a numbers problem like damage on her abilities, but seeing how she's made to be a control mage, I found it odd how easy it is to dominate her the second someone gets close to her like assassins (looking at you Fizz and Zed). I'm familiar with the concept of counters, but there is just absolutely nothing you can do if you're a Taliyah going up against those two champs unless they are actually blind. I had a few quick suggestions that i think would do wonders for her kit:

  1. Passive change-- I like the idea of her passive it's a cool concept but once you get in combat it's as if you have no passive at all. Since Taliyah sometimes needs to get somewhat close to the enemy team to lay down an effective E, maybe add something to her passive that gives her a small health bonus with level or something. Nothing major just something so it doesn't feel like you have no passive in combat.
  2. W self-cast-- The biggest issue I've noticed with Taliyah's kit so far is that for a control mage, it can be very hard to stop anyone who has a decent gap closer that isn't a dash like Ekko Fizz Zed etc. you get the idea. Normally I'd say that it's just a counter but in my experience it's so strong a counter that it's near impossible to combat against, especially in early levels. If you're playing Taliyah and you're laning against a Fizz, it's GG unless you have a jungling god. Something I thought could really help her out is giving her W a self casting option which could create a similar effect to her W once directed, but in a small circle around her that would launch all enemies caught in this area around her back a small distance. To keep the ability from being broken you might reduce the damage a bit or something. This would help her kit and identity as a control mage immensely and give Taliyah players a small chance against champs like Fizz once they get past your E. Champs like these are near impossible to hit with the normal W if they know what they're doing, so they can completely surpass your main displacement tool which weakens her status as a control mage. It would also make these assassins think twice about going in unless they know it's on cooldown, because the way it sits right now there really is no downside to jumping on her without hesitation. (Also might consider making her W AOE range slightly bigger because most players agree that unless slowed or caught completely off guard, her W is suuuper easy to avoid, but I'd be content just seeing the first change honestly.)
  3. Unraveled Earth should slow- Maybe only a small slow, but it would definitely help her other abilities out a bit if the ground unraveling and shifting around an enemy champion slowed them a little. Also just kind of makes sense I mean who could walk normally as the ground rolls and changes below them? I feel like these changes would really help her kit overall and improve her win rates, and I hope you take these into consideration in the inevitable Taliyah buffs/changes to come! Anyone who reads this and has any comments or suggestions should definetly speak up. Maybe if we work together we'll have a better chance of getting Riot's attention.

Her E does slow enemies. Check the League Wiki.

Ekko and Fizz have dashes so placing your E becomes crucial. She has chances against these champs. Zed's ult normally finishes with him behind your champion so you E one direction and W behind you going to your E. But then again these 3 champs give a lot of problems for a lot of champs anyways.

Her passive is not the best for combat technically but it has a lot of power for roaming and getting around the map. I can roam bot with my ult and be back to mid really fast.

You also mentioned 3 assassins. They are made to 1v1. Taliyah is a control mage that shines in punishing with her teammates and teamfights.

She should be able to create a wall around herself, not a large one, maybe just a wave of rocks to knock thing away from her, something to give her zone, similar to how AurelionSol sometimes needs to ult to keep his zone in check

I had suggested in another thread to have an increasing size/range on her W and E as she levels those skills up. imagine how useful a 1800 range E on her would be in a late game team fight. It would probably be a very effective zoning/mobility control tool. If the size of W goes up to 900 (arbitrary number subject to change) would be more useful in a late game hectic team fight but still be small at rank 1 so it wouldn't be OP right at the start of the game. Also makes sense lore wise. As she grows in strength she can move more rock. Q could even get this treatment maybe. possibly every 100 AP allows one more missile on worked earth or bigger benefits on worked earth.

I think she's fine as is. I love her kit and what she does. #Mastery7Taliyah
