I always enjoy making champion concepts, but I recently decided to try my hand at items. The new items I'm suggesting are intended to fill certain unfilled niches in order to improve the viability and diversity of champions and their builds. I'm also including some changes to existing items, either to bring them in line balance-wise or to make them less mandatory for their intended classes.

The concept list is as follows: Section 1. New items Section 2. Existing item changes

Section 1. New Items

Targon Theme: item 3190's unique active is now named Steadfast.

Ancient Phalanx Regalia (Melee Only) (2200g) Aegis of the Legion + Cloth Armor + 800g +60 Armor +30 Magic Resist Unique Active - Steadfast: Create a 180° arc-shield facing your cursor that lasts for 4 seconds. You take 30% reduced physical damage from (non-turret) incoming enemy attacks and abilities that hit the arc-shield. (90 second cooldown) Gold efficiency: 79.09% without the unique active.

This item is intended to be the anti-AD counterpart of item 3190 . Coincidentally, it also happens to be really good in this current lethality meta.

Void Theme: Hand of the Abyss (2700g) Kircheis Shard + Seeker's Armguard + 750g +45 Ability Power +20% Attack Speed +45 Armor Unique Passive: Moving and attacking will make an attack energized. Unique Passive - Void Touch: Your energized attacks deal 50-160 bonus magic damage (based on level) on hit and steal 20% attack speed from the target for 3 seconds. Gold Efficiency: 88.10% without the passive.

This item is intended for the spellblade archetype champions such as Diana Ekko Kassadin . It dips into multiple facets of a spellblade's strengths: it has a clear window of burst from the passive, and also provides a boost to their durability as well as sustained AA damage to keep fighting once they use their abilities. It is also very good for on-hit magic damage dealers such as Jax Kayle Teemo Warwick .

Shadow Isles Theme: Face of a Thousand Souls (3400g) Haunting Guise + Fiendish Codex + 1000g +60 Ability Power +250 Health Unique Passive: +20% Cooldown Reduction Unique Passive - Eyes of Pain: +15 Magic Penetration Unique Active - Death Stare: Unleashes a death stare in a cone in front of you, grounding enemies caught in it for 3 seconds and granting you +5 (+1 x Level) additional magic penetration against them for the duration. (60 Second Cooldown) Gold Efficiency: 90.15% without the active.

I wanted to accomplish several things with this item. First, to create a squishy-killer counterpart to the tank-killing capacities of item 3151 . I also wanted to provide mages with another 20% CDR option and another magic pen option. To prevent this item from becoming mandatory on everyone, it is intended to be geared toward immobile mages who want the extra health and are also willing to get close enough to make use of the active, such asMordekaiser Malzahar Swain.

Freljord Theme: Northern Wind (3100g) Aether Wisp + Quicksilver Sash + Amplifying Tome + 515g +70 Ability Power +35 Magic Resist Unique Passive: +10% Movement Speed Passive: You can move through units. Unique Active - Quicksilver: Removes all crowd control debuffs and releases a blast of icy wind in a 400 range area around you, slowing enemies hit by 20% for 1 second. (90 Second Cooldown) Gold Efficiency: 82.18% without the unit collision ignore or the active.

Finally, a quicksilver item for AP champions! This item is intended for champions who like to weave through units to avoid getting hit by abilities. The active is best used when an enemy assassin/diver/skirmisher jumps onto you, or when you, as a melee AP, have just jumped onto an enemy and get CC'd.

Zaun Theme: Street Thug's Beatstick (1400g) Kircheis Shard + Longsword + 300g +20 Attack Damage +20% Attack Speed Unique Passive: Moving and attacking makes an attack energized. Unique Passive - Beatdown: Your energized attacks cause your target to bleed for 50 (+15% bonus AD) additional physical damage over 3 seconds. Gold Efficiency: 85.71% without the bleed effect.

Designed for auto attack focused AD champions who want a little extra oomph in their brawls with a pseudo-crit, such as Nocturne MasterYi Aatrox XinZhao, and several marksmen.

Peacemaker (3100g) Street Thug's Beatstick + Pickaxe + Dagger + 525g +50 Attack Damage +40% Attack Speed Unique Passive: Moving and attacking makes an attack energized. Unique Passive - Beatdown: Your energized attacks deal 35% bonus damage (excluding modifiers, half bonus for crits) as true damage over 3 seconds. Gold Efficiency: 88.71% without the bleed effect.

This item is the advanced form of Street Thug's Beatstick, and is designed as an alternative to crit chance items (or a supplement, for champions who want a suitable substitute for lethality in their crit builds). For champions who could make good use of crit chance but choose other build paths instead, this item is great for maintaining their ability to provide a beatdown.

Chaos Engine (Ranged Only) (3100g) Cloak of Agility + Stinger + 1200g +40% Attack Speed +30% Critical Strike Chance Unique Passive: +10% Cooldown Reduction Unique Passive - Fuel: Your non-crit basic attacks grant a stack of Fuel for 4 seconds, up to 5 stacks. Unique Passive - Chaos: Your Critical Strikes consume all stacks of Fuel to create a blast of red lightning around your target, dealing (20% Total AD) bonus physical damage per stack consumed to your target and all surrounding enemies. if 5 stacks are consumed, the blast stuns enemies for 1 second. Unique Active - Overload: Your critical strike chance is reduced to 0% for the next 3 seconds. (60 Second Cooldown) Gold Efficiency: 79.57% without the passives or active.

So I had a lot of fun designing this one. I wanted to provide marksmen with a little extra power and utility to prevent them from being so useless while behind, and to create an additional option for caster marksmen such as Lucian MissFortune Graves. Paired withitem 3508, it provides all the CDR you could want, with really good crit chance to boot, and the occasional increased burst to your combo. As a solo crit item, or when the active is used, its 5 stack Chaos effect can absolutely devastate a teamfight. Because its power actually relies on NOT critting, it totally changes the way you play and build after buying this item, and using the active requires a deliberate decision to delay your damage in favor of a telegraphed powerhouse attack.

Piltover Theme: Focus Lens (350g) Unique Passive - Focus: Your basic attacks grant you +3% critical strike chance, stacking up to 100%. Scoring a critical strike resets this bonus. Unique Passive: Your critical strikes grant +1% critical strike chance. at 20%, transforms into a Cloak of Agility. Current Bonus: XX%

It's Ashe's old passive! This item is intended as an alternate starting item specifically geared toward making crit marksmen better early game.

Hexcoil Capacitor (Ranged Only) (3100g) Cloak of Agility + Zeal + 1200g +20% Attack Speed +40% Critical Strike Chance Unique Passive - Fuel: Your critical strikes grant a stack of Fuel for 4 seconds, up to 5 stacks. Unique Passive - Hexcoil: You gain +10% attack speed per stack of Fuel. Unique Active - Overload: Consume all stacks of Fuel to unleash a blast of blue lightning around you, dealing (20% Total AD) physical damage per stack consumed to enemies hit. if 5 stacks were consumed, the blast knocks away enemies to your max attack range. (60 Second Cooldown) Gold Efficiency: 67.74% base, reaching 108.06% at max stacks of Fuel, excluding the active.

The counterpart to Chaos Engine, it provides the most crit chance out of any other item in the game. It relies on winding up based on how much you crit, which means it's best as a second crit item, and can easily allow crit builds to reach 100%. The active is designed to provide marksmen with additional utility to help them survive when they're the primary target of a teamfight.

Shurima Theme: Garb of the Imperial Magus (3300g) Blasting Wand + Lost Chapter + Cloth Armor + 1250g +80 Ability Power +350 Mana +15 Armor Unique Passive: Grants bonus armor equal to 8% of your ability power. Current bonus: XX Unique Passive: While in combat with an enemy champion, you regenerate 1% of your max mana each second. Gold Efficiency: 80.54%, including the bonus armor gained from the item's AP, but excluding the rest of the passive effects.

_Note: In the existing items section, I removed the mana regeneration effects from item 3165 to put onto this item. This item is an ode to Xerath's lore and his old passive. It is intended for battle mages who want to be in extended fights to make the most out of the mana regeneration passive, while gaining a bit of durability against physical damage dealers. _

Section 2: Existing Item Changes

item 1036 now builds into item 1037 for 525g combine cost (gold efficiency still a 1:1 ratio).

This change is to bring the typical AD build path (especially for marksmen) more in line with the paths for items likeitem 1028 item 1029 item 1033. I didn't do this for the AP items because the gold efficiency is not a 1:1 ratio between them.

Grevious Wounds healing reduction 40%>>>35% healing reduction with negated base health regeneration.

Let's face it: sustain champions are frustrating because they're overtuned to compensate for this mechanic. Tuning it down a bit will in turn allow sustain mechanics to be tuned down.

item 3056 item active cooldown 120 seconds>>>90 seconds. Tower disable duration 3 seconds>>>4 seconds.

This item sucks. Self explanatory buff.

item 3091 combine cost 480g>>>580g (2600g total). On-hit magic damage: 40>>>30 (+20% Bonus Magic Resist).

_This change is to make the item more appealing to champions other than Warwick by allowing the MR shred to be useful in and of itself rather than just to amplify any magic damage already in the user's kit. Also allowing the on-hit magic damage to scale makes this item better late game, especially against heavy AP comps where you're building a lot of magic resist. _

item 3102 spell shield now reactivates every 40 seconds regardless if you've taken damage.

Bringing it in line with Edge of Night, and just making it more desirable in general.

item 3165 mana 400>>>300. Mana restore on kill/assist removed. Grevious Wounds duration 8 seconds>>>6 seconds. New unique passive: Whenever a nearby enemy champion is healed while afflicted by Morellonomicon's Grevious Wounds, you also heal for half the negated amount (17.5% of the original amount). Gold efficiency: 112.70% without the passives>>>107.87% without the passives.

Morello has been a must-buy crutch item for mages for a very long time because it offered enormous gold efficiency before even considering its powerful passives. I decided to split this all-purpose item into 2 niche items (see Garb of the Imperial Magus in my new items section), similar to what Riot did with Zhonya's Ring. Since the Garb is the mana sustain item, naturally this would be the health sustain item -- a perfect fit since it already has Grevious Wounds as a mechanic. This item would now be mainly bought against heavy sustain champions.
