@Riot Possible solution to fixing the Tutorial

I know I posted this before but I want to see what a Rioter thinks of this( I also believe this needs to be addressed more then it is).

{Update 1: I’ll try to add one of these every time I make a new one which will most likely be once a week. There could be a second tutorial about Twisted Treeline since the map is still in existance. This could work for current players also. The 3v3 tutorial would go over things like what the tower differences are from it and SR, what Vilemaw buff does and what the altar uses are.

The new player experience could involve updating practice tool to be more user friendly. Make every champion available( maybe skins but less likely), make it so you can have one real person on either team with you. This would help their friends teach them in game things without having to do it in a 25 minute game. }

Beginner Tutorial: This tutorial wouldnt be about playing the game. It would show an overview of the summoners rift map. It would begin by showing you on the minimap where it has everything laid out. After an overview of the map like Creator Suite uses. It then goes back to the map overview and shows you where the towers are located. https://imgur.com/7oqvlj1 After a brief talk about tower damage and how to kill them the announcer would discuss the inhibitors and nexus objectives. How inhibs spawn super minions and destroying the nexus gives 50 gold. https://imgur.com/9AbMg51 It would talk about how minions are key to winning. what their main use is. The tutorial would then go into the players view and discuss the layout of the HUD. https://imgur.com/TtI1Xqe It would talk about abilites and how every champs has 4 abilities. Then it would go to show you the map and what is in the top right. Once completing the tutorial you unlock the champion Ashe.

Intermediate Tutorial: This starts with the normal player view of your new champion Ashe. It talks about how she is an AD carry and builds primarily damage items. The shop will then open to the main damage items and talk about a few of the stats like ad, crit, and attack speed. You then are instructed to buy a starter item with dorans blade. You will walk with the minions to the lane and match the enemy laner. (whoever is chosen) The game freezes and tells you about how to get gold. You then farm one wave and then are told to attack the enemy laner after a few autos and a w the enemy flashes under tower and you are warned about turret range. The tutorial then has you place a ward at the bush closest to lane. He comes back and you are told to fight him again. This time you kill him. tutorial ends.

After the second tutorial you are allowed to play a bot game. There is one more tutorial for people wanting to learn more.

Advanced Tutorial: (AFTER COMPLETING THIS YOU UNLOCK SMITE. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS YOU GET SMITE AT THE NORMAL LEVEL)

This one will go over jungle and the different minions there. It would start off with baron and dragon, explaining what the junglers role in securing them is. https://imgur.com/vWW2EEO

The Tutorial then goes over the main 2 camps, red and blue buff, and what their benefits are. https://imgur.com/mn9Abt9

After this it then goes into the smaller camps and why you want to get xp. https://imgur.com/h8TxAoI

After the overview they have you play warwick and clear blue buff. They give you smite and let you solo it. It will pause when you need to q and smite it. Then it will tell you to go camp to camp to get level 3 and once you get 3 it has a low health enemy go top lane. With your w movement speed you run towards them and kill them. There is a brief explanation about how you should only gank during safe times.

Once you complete the tutorials you get mission to help you learn. You dont get brand and such from level up but instead from missions.

Starter Missions: (REWARD: Garen) Place 3 wards in 3 games. Get 5 kills. Play 1 games with 0 deaths.

Second Missions: (BE and Brand) Deal ??? damage. Place 3 control wards in 3 games. Upgrade trinket in 3 games.

Third Mission:(REWARD: Sivir and a ward skin) Stun 5 enemies in one game Get 15 assists in 2 games Play ARAM

Fourth Mission: (Mystery Skin) Reach 6 complete items in one game Win 5 Summoners rift games Reach level 10

Fifth Missions (REWARD Yasuo) Die 15 times in one game Blame team AFK

Right now i dont think the tutorial is living up to what it could be. There isnt enough that it teaches.

TL;DR

We need a new tutorial and some ways could be by using mission, helping new players more etc. Lets give the semi new league players a better introduction to the game.

I'm assuming the tutorial hasn't changed since I started it in 2014? I played Ashe in Howling Abyss, and it taught me how to play the game. Right-click to move, attack minions, use Q/W/E/R abilities, towers attack you if you aggro or are in front of minions. Push towers to win the game.

I thought it was nice, because it teaches you the bare bones of how to play the game, from the controls and how to win. The rest of the game is subjective to each season. I find that the 1-30 grind is plenty time to learn the ins and out. It's enough time to main at least one champion.

There is a youtube channel called Extra Credits, and they have an episode on good tutorials, using Super Mario Bros as an example. What you are suggesting is called frontloading, which is handing information in the beginning. Good tutorials are the kind that get the players learning on their own, because feeding information makes the gameplay uninteresting.

If I were to help improve the learning curve, I would raise the level requirement for ranked to 40. Then, provide missions until 30, with the final 10 levels being the player on their own with just the First Win of the Day bonus.

Still think this is a great idea! Hope a Rioter sees this.
