Hey everyone <3

Just wanted to share this cover I made of Rise. Hope you like it and pls no flame >.< it's obviously not going to be nearly as good since the song wasn't meant for these instruments in the first place... but I didn't hadn't found any instrumental and wanted to try to make an acoustic version playing piano. Have a good weekend and thanks so much for watching!

I hope you will appreciate this frank, constructive criticism.

  1. Needs more shouting. Your cat should not be able to sleep through this song.

  2. Needs more passion. After listening, your cat should have become a tiger.

I’m serious. Your delivery is quiet and flat. After enough rehersal to learn the notes, take a break and return when you feel inspired to sing the song. (Edit: you already learned the notes, obviously). Then, lean into the emotions and lose yourself in the music, while using breath control to achieve volume.

Also, here’s a technical tip. This piece is about a long, grinding struggle, so bite down on the words that punctuate the lines.

“Higher and higher, you chase it.
There’s blood on the crown, go and take it.”

You clearly have the talent to do this song and the grit to refine your performance. It would be amazing to hear a second rendition with more volume and feeling.

WOW!

Well done!

As for what Ifnef is saying.

I think he is kinda rude, and not able to make his point, but he is correct.

I am a singer guitar dude, who has written my own songs, and recorded with pro-quality equipment.

(My buddy, was an engineer with a quarter million dollar studio. lol. Lucky me)

The curse is, most talented musicians like yourself, are existential people, who are able to step outside themselves, and listen.

You put on that studio headset, and the amplifies that.

Like you can hear your own voice so crisp, and clear, its a whole nother level of self awareness.

You can hear every minuscule sharp, or flat note.

I would start to use what my friend called, the "breathy" sound, where you are focusing too hard on tone, and perfection.

You gotta let loose.

It was so hard for me, and since then, I don't even really do music anymore.

However, when I do, I always try and sing like nobody can hear me.

Or think of it like this. If you were trying to call a taxi on the street, what voice would you use?

Whatever that voice would be, use that voice.

Stop trying to have perfect pitch.

It is obviously not all or nothing.

You don't have to start wailing like an animal necessarily, but just food for thought.

Much love!
