Why was my post removed :(

I posted a cover of Rise I recently made in Story, Art & Sound.

I had done the same in the past with my Ornn cover. It got plenty of comments, even from Rioters, in the same board, and nothing happened :c

But for some reason this one got removed, saying it belongs to Concepts & Creations.

Now, Music is both Art and Sound so that's at least direct matching 2/3rds of the board title >.<
However this was not really a Concept, or that much of a Creation since it's a cover of already existing music. Not to mention it also has the original Rise video on it.

This means at least one of these things happened, if not several:

The post got removed wrongfully.
Boards does not considering Music to be part of the Art (or Sound?) in League.
Boards lacks clarity severely regarding these posts.
KittySuppSquad hates me : (

And in any case, can't the post just be moved instead of deleted?

So, I am not a mod or anything but this is my input.

There is just a thin line between the two sections. One is meant for things already exists inside League and the other is for user created content such as a cover.

This is where the line gets blurry though, and if I make an incorrect assumption on the info I have; please correct me. You did the Ornn before, which I take it is from thr Log In theme. The Ornn Log in Music/Screen was/is a part of the game as it was there for everyone when booting up the game. Now, your cover of "Rise" is technically different. "Rise" is not part of the game in any form outside of optionally watching it.

A Cover is still technically a Creation as well. It is a Creation that you should credit the original creator with, yes, but it is still a Creation.

Other possibilities include that a year ago (or more) when you posted the Ornn, the Moderation team was still adjusting to new members and enforcing rules more consistently. This could also just have been a judgement call by KittySuppSquad (doesn't mean they hate you) and could be reversed.

As for moving; the forums weren't programmed with that function when they were created.

Your first assumption was indeed incorrect: the song I covered from Ornn is not its actual login theme, it was an additional content released separately and not actually sounding in game.

"Rise" is not part of the game in any form outside of optionally watching it.

Rise is not that separate of the game: it's been the starting in game music for a while these days temporarily, in a similar way halloween/christmas event music takes place.

A Cover is still technically a Creation as well.

Even considering this, that would make it match 1/2 with Concepts & Creations whereas it's matching 2/3rds with Story, Art & Sound.

Hello. Me and KittySuppSquad talked about it and felt that it was better fit for Concepts & Creations but agreed that an argument could be made for Story, Art & Sound as well. Unfortunately if we could simply move threads we would, but we can't so we don't.

Thanks for replying. Reading this makes clear that it's, to the very least, very subjective.

Like I argued I think it's closer to art & sound and there's good evidence supporting it, but:

Even in the case that it fitted both equally or slightly more towards C&C, is it really worth it? I genuinely believe there are better things to do and it's a bit disproportionate to delete the thread without a warning like "Hey, in the future please put this in C&C".

I don't think a potentially non existent benefit makes up for the huge bummer towards the people making these threads and all the erased comments & feedback.

I can understand almost all mod actions, but definitely not this one. There's no point in being this strict with these, especially when there would be the same or even more evidence to removing it the other way around.

I've never understood why, on occasion, threads like this will get deleted because someone "felt it didn't quite fit." By deleting it, they're deleting content that could have been nice for the community to see, plus it being in SAS vs C+C makes almost no functional difference at all. Frankly, I don't think it should be a problem, leaving a thread up when the line is so blurry that there are arguments to be made for both sides.

I'm not a tech expert so I have no idea why that is myself. I do agree that it's such a simple feature that should be easy to implement since many other sites (including fansites) have it.

I mean not to be overly critical or anything, but I'm involved with a small indie company and while their forums are pretty darn crappy compared to these by almost every measure, they still have a thread move feature (and an easy ban+delete posts option for getting rid of spambots). They can't replace the forum easily though, because it ties into the entire site (which is based off of now defunct or bought out Duxter, which was used by a number of free online games, I think world of tanks and other games by the same company used it)

Hi there im just popping in here. I do not hate you at all. I'm simply making it so there is a fair chance for your post to get the proper traction. Since your video was a creation made by you, it would get the best results in the Concepts and Creations board. The reason your previous post did not get deleted is because if something gets enough traction we tend to not delete as its counter productive because it a) got a lot of up votes b) got a lot of comments and c) a Rioter was saying good things.

That sucks. Nice cover though. I always figured concepts and creations was for fanmade stuff and story art and sound was for talking about official releases. Can mods clear that up in the descriptions and rules for those specific boards? Thanks.

I wouldn't say we're hated because I can't understand the sense of that, and I generally see the reasoning behind moderation. But both this case and the response I got for it were pretty disappointing. A bit sad ¯_(ツ)_/¯
