I think they could get away with a reference if it was subtle enough. Kennen has a Deadpool skin, Shen is Subzero and Scorpion, Toxic Avenger Mundo, Bowser Rammus, etc. As long as it isn't extremely blatant, though it's hard not to be with a skin like this.
