Future Champion Thematic's
###Bored during study hall, and waiting for friends to get onto league after school, i decided to write a list of champion ideas I would like to see in the game. The thematic's of some of the champions aren't new but hopefully this will spark some gears in the creative minds of the boards community. Enjoy :)
#The Witch
While we do have a “witches” in league, they aren’t the “witches” we think of. Old, pointy hat, fashionably ugly, carrying a crooked staff covered in moss, and a pack with do-dabs, bobbles, and potions hanging from the side. These are images I see when hearing the word “witch”, surely in a magic-influenced world such as Runeterra, there should be a witch practicing magic and boiling potions right? Now, why old? Because usually, and I'm not saying this is a bad thing, we see young perfect looking girls with the exception of Ilaoiaioil and Rek’sai. Now just because the witch is old, doesn’t mean her heart is crooked like her staff. She could be on a redemption story trying to correct the wrongdoings she did in her youth, or she could be involved with the secret magic council in Demacia. Or she could even be a yordle in a forest, guarding whatever lies dormant.
#The Puppet Master
The idea of having a puppet master in the game would be a weird and challenging dynamic to develop. The basis of a puppet master is a person or a group covertly controlling another person or group. Perhaps this person uses magic to control others in the game? An idea that I think would be really cool and the mains of this champion would love, in my opinion, would be reworking Shaco into a puppet master. Shaco could have been a puppet himself (similar to his current lore) being controlled by someone. Something happens, and Shaco is now free, filled with magic he himself is now the puppet master. Something interesting like this would bring back the “love” of Shaco, as I feel only those who main him play him.
#The Summoner/Shaman
Having a dedicated summoner/shaman as a champion isn’t something new to concepts. And if I remember correctly, and do tell me if I wrong, there was an episode of Beyond the Rift by QT and Scarra interviewing Riot Reav3 talking somewhat about having a “summoner” type champion. One who fights using the things that they summon, kinda like Azir and Annie. However, instead of having the one summoned creature which acts like a “one hit wonder” (such as Tibbers), they can summon more than one creature on a somewhat short cooldown. It would be awesome if Riot recycled the Summoner’s from the original lore, just changing it up a bit for a single person instead of a whole organization. What would this champion be able to spawn? How did they spawn? Can it be a combination of what the champion has fought and mixes them together? Or is it a fixed thing, having upgrades kinda like Kha’Zix and Kai’sa. Tell me what you think!
#The Painter
Creating a champion that works with paint would introduce a different style of gameplay to league. I know for a fact that this was mentioned in Beyond the Rift when Scarra and QT were interviewing Riot Reav3 -- Reav3 mentioned that they were working on a champion that would draw symbols on the ground to cast abilities. This idea, however, was put on hold. I would really love to see what Riot can do with a champion that draws their abilities on the ground. What if your basic abilities, Q W E, would change the type of ink you have and each ink type has their own 3 basic abilities that can be drawn out. I don’t know what the ultimate for this champion would be, but either way, I really hope this becomes a thing in the near future!
#The Miner
A Freljordian works 8 hours a day in a coal mine, it's tough work but at least it's out of the cold weather. Every day is the same thing, set the charges, clear out the rubble, collect the minerals, rinse and repeat. However, on this particular-ordinary day something happened, the charges went off yet no sound of rock came crumbling down. Cautious at first, the miner peaked over a wooden beam to see what had denied him of his free meal tonight. A slow blue light hummed the cave to life, curiosity struck his heart and step by step the miner edged closer… I would love to see a miner champion, perhaps the champion could have found a world rune, a portal to the void, or perhaps its something else that we don’t know yet! I personally like the world rune idea, so what if the champion infused his pick-ax, or whatever he had on him, with the world rune! What would he do with his pick-ax? Does he know what a world rune is? Does Ryze know about this? Was this rune sealed here in the mountain on purpose? Tell me what you think!
#The Cook
I honestly don’t even know how this would work, but it would be very INTeresting to see how this theme would FEED our imagination. Perhaps the person is a well-respected cook in Piltover, combining hextech and biochemical tools to whip up a Five-star meal on the go. Or the champion could be a Noxian serving the black rose, attuning himself with fine dining, delicately crafting delectable food so good that it will literally kill you! Again, I honestly don’t know how this would work, and probably would never happen, but I would love to see what others can think of for a Cook champion. :)
#The Slave
I don’t think we’ve had a true slave champion in league before, yes we technically do with Xerath however, the only reason we know he once was a slave was that of his updated lore. The interactions, the champions abilities, and how the champion became a slave -- this would be a very interesting dynamic to see in game and good story to convey to an audience. Maybe it could be a new Ascended champ. from old Shurima, or it could be a scrapper working for a baron in Zaun? Slavery is indeed nothing to be made light of, it should just be made aware of how horrible it is. With this in mind, I would like to see Riot expand on this premise other than the “small” cameo we see from the stories of Xerath and Azir
I had a few more thematic concepts but I just didn't know how to convey it. Plus their really weird topics: A guild master, a botanist, and a musician. Thank you for reading, have a nice day :)
