Champion Concept: Anastasia - The Dragon Trainer

NOTE: THERE ARE UPDATED VERSIONS OF ALL ABILITYS IN THE COMMENTS BELOW Hey guys, I made a new champion design for Anastasia - The Dragon Trainer. I think that her kit, although it's quite complicated, is pretty uniqe and interesting. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below. Note:

  • I'm not good at balancing. Pls dont mind if the scalings are a bit to strong or too weak.

  • I'm no native speaker so pls don't look that much on gramma.

Anastasia

Lore Anastasia is a high respected biologist in bandle city. She is famous for her studies about dragons and their habits and her work was used to protect yordleland against numerous beasts. But one day after the yordle armies killed two dragons who where nesting near bandle city she secretly took an egg with her to the university. There she breeded it until it hatched and she soon recognised that the dragon wasnt evil or furious at all. Contrariwise... the dragon seemed to accept her as her mom and was very confiding. As her dragon growed Anastasia wasnt able to keep him as a secret so she decidet to show bandle city how she tamed her dragon. Soon there where many requests if tamed dragons could be used for battle or as pets so she opened „Bandle City's First Dragon Breeding Station“ where she and other yordles where breeding and training dragons. Even tho she hatched numerous dragons in her life her first will always be her favorite.

Passive – Dragon trainer In the start of every game you can hatch a new dragon. In the beginning of the game you will be able to choose an egg. You have the choice between different dragon species. You can't leave base until you choose one of the following. 1. Fire dragon +5/10/15% attack damage & ability power all dragon based attacks burn the target by 2% of its maximum health over 4 seconds. 2. Earth dragon +10/15/30% health armor and magic resi. +10/20/30% tenacity 3. Water dragon +10/15/20hp per 10 sec increases all heals given by her team and shields nearby by 5/10/15%. 4. Air dragon you can move through units +5/15/15% movement speed +10/20/30% attack speed

The dragon will attack the same target as you dealing 30% of your AD as physical damage. Your abilitys will change when your dragon evolves. (note:you have to skill your ult for them to evolve) Level 1 – Egg hatching The egg has to breed in your base until you reached level 6. You can't level up until you picked him up, but you wont loose any xp because you will get them after you picked him up.

Level 6 – Baby Dragon You can't level up until you evolved him in your base, but you wont loose any xp because you will get them after you evolved him. You will carry a dragon baby from this point on.

Level 12 – Teen Dragon You can't level up until you evolved him in your base, but you wont loose any xp because you will get them after you evolved him. Your teen dragon will follow you from this point on.

Level 16 – Dragon You can't level up until you evolved him in your base, but you wont loose any xp because you will get them after you evolved him. You are nwo able to ride your dragon. Only your dragon can attack now, dealing 100% of your AD and damaging all enemys in a cone behind the target for 50% of the your AD.

Congrats! You are now a succesfull dragon trainer. :D


Q – slingshot / Elemental Spark No cost 8/7.5/7/6.5/6 sec cooldown Anastasia charges her slingshot (2 second charging time) and fires a small fast projectile. After level 6 her dragon charges his breath instead of Anastasia charging her slingshot. Both deal 10/20/30/40/50 (+50%AD) damage. She is able to move and change the direction of the shot while charging. The different Levels and dragon species can change the range and effect of the skillshot.

Level effects (1/6/12/16) The Range of your skillshot gets reduced by 100 units per level starting from 900. The width of the skillshot grows by 30 units per level. It deals AoE damage after level 16. It increases the effects as seen below.

Dragon species effects

  1. Fire dragon Scales with 70//80//90% AD and burns the target by 3% of its maximum health over 4 seconds.
  2. Earth dragon -100 range Reduces the armor of the target by 15%. Slows them by 10//15//20%
  3. Water dragon Slows enemys by 20//30//40% Can hit allies and heals them by 20 (+20/25/30/35/40% AD) hp.
  4. Air dragon Can fly through units. Increases attack speed and movement speed of all allies nearby by 30% for 6 seconds

W – Enthusiasm / Fly No cost 15//12.5//5 sec cooldown Passive: This abilitys cooldown resets in base

Active: Before level 16 Anastasia gains 100% additional movement speed that decays over 4 seconds.

Level 16 Anastasia and her Dragon are able to move over terrain. If She takes damage she has to fly back to the ground and this abilitys cooldown is increased by 120% (because the dragon hurts his wings). This abilitys cooldown gets increased by 1 second for every 2 seconds you stay in the air.


E – Lasso / Bite No cost 10/9/8/7/6 sec cooldown Before level 6 Anastasia throws out a lasso to a location (3 sec charging) (250 radius) that pulls all enemys in the centre of the area and pulls them slightly in her direction. There are slowed by 80% for 2.5 seconds.

Level 6+ The dragon bites a target for 2/2.5/3/3.5/4 seconds, deals 5/7/9/11/13% (+1% AD) of its maximum health with 20//30//40% armor penetration. The target is slowed by 10//20//30% and grounded for this time. Anastasia is able to attack during the duration of Bite.


R – Show what you've learned No cost 13/25/50 sec cooldown The Dragon uses his elemental breath for 4 seconds. This has different effects depending on his species and level. If your dragon is grown up Anastasia (who's mounting him) is slowed by 70%. you can change the direction of the breath slowly while using this ability

Level effects Level 6: The dragon breathes at a small area. (100 area radius) Level 12: The dragon breathes at a point nearby and creates a cone pointing away from Anastasia. (500 cone lenght) (300 max. cone width) Level 16: The dragon breathes in one direction affecting all enemys around and in a cone in front of him. (700 cone lenght) (500 max. cone width) (200 radius around him)

**Dragon Species Effects ** (all effects over time during the use of the ability) 1. Fire dragon – Blazing Breath Damages all enemys by 50/95/120 (+70/80/90% AD) magic damage and burns the enemys by 5% of their maximum health. 2. Earth dragon – Earth shock Duration 1 sec Damages all enemys by 30/55/80 (+50/60/70% AD) phisical damage. -100 length Reduces the armor of all targets by 15%. Slows them by 20/30/40% damages towers (executes them when they're under 10/20/30% hp) If the tower doesn't die there is no AoE effect when executing towers effects the area 300 units around the building 3. Water dragon – Gently tides No self slow Fires only 1 sec in a cone. Slows enemys by 40/50/60% heals all allies nearby by 300 (+20/25/30/35/40% AD) hp over 8 seconds. (200/325/450 heal radius) 4. Air dragon – Storm breath Damages all enemys by 20/35/50 (+40/50/60% AD) magic damage. Silences all enemys Invulnerable while casting

humming pokemon theme song

This may be long winded but its because I really like the concept! The theme of linking all the dragon trainer yordle skin's to a head dragon trainer, and the idea of being able specialize your character while in game other than items.

ranged, resourcless seems a bit much with such high damage on super low CDs

I don't like the base restriction to leveling. I feel it would force me out of lane more than I would like. I normally leave lane before or after 6, so it feels like an extra trip, causing me to miss a wave, or giving my ADC to much time alone to do silly things. I would prefer if you picked an egg at level one, and it grants minor buffs in theme with the egg types. Then as you level your ult you lose the stats for like 30-60 seconds (because you... drop the egg for it to hatch/the dragon starts growing larger and its scales harden/the dragon reaches it's FINAL FORM!!!) before the dragon returns to you granting you the enhanced bonuses. I feel it would still cause you to plan when you want to level your ult, but not force you out of lane when you might need to be their, like the base requirement would. The dragon leveling feels like a handicap sometimes. Like you start with 100% AD AAs, the dragon adds 30% more at level 6, but once you hit 16 you lose 30% single target damage because you cannot AA anymore. Not setting numbers for 'balance' but the general idea. Maybe have the dragons add 30% at level 6, 40% at level 12, and then at level 16 you lose your ability to AA but the dragon deals 150%? Also how would you want Hurricane to work with the 16 dragons cone? I keep imagining a triple Titan Hydra wave behind the main targets :-p

Q The gradually reducing skill range on a ranged champion would make me not want to level it if I'm having to poke super aggressive opponents. I like the idea of changing the range/width with the different types of dragons (only the earth dragon lists changes to the range though). Would be awesome if fire had more width, but would not pass through enemies (like a Vlad E). earth would have reduced range but would penetrated through units, reducing armor. Water would have longer range but thinner width dealing less damage/healing the further they are, and causing a knock back to enemy units hit by the stream. wind having a less cone shape, which speed up ally units moving/attacking with it, but slowing enemies moving/attacking against it.

W Need some clarification on this one. The passive is a reset when you return to base? if so than it is more or less homeguards, I like it. Good for getting back to lane quicker if you have to spend extra time hatching and upgrading your dragon at base. Do you lose the speed boost at level 16? If so... I no wants :-(. Is this a 3 or 5 leveling skill? only 3 CDs are listed, and the max rank CD seems WAY to low for a 4 second speed boost over walls (5-7 second CD as written 8.4 if attacked at the very very end). I would like a longer CD for 50-75% decaying speed boost for 2-3ish seconds. At level 6 you could reactivate one time to have your dragon 'flap' resetting the speed boost. At level 12 you can reactivate two times, having 'Flap' but the second reactive is 'Take Off' and you can fly over terrain. At 16 you can reactivate three times, 'Flap', 'Take Off', and the third reactivate is 'Soar' allowing you to glide over terrain until you cast an ability or take damage, more or less entering combat. Giving the thematics of a running take off with your dragon, and then flying all majestic like.

E More clarification. Do you still throw the rope after level 6? a thrown tug towards + slow +max health damage with armor pen + more slow + grounding? is the biting damage % applied per second or though out the duration? I would think the rope would tug + ground, and if you have your dragon it lunges after a second or so in the direction you threw the rope dealing damage + dragon type effect, like fire max health damage burn, earth armor reduction, water knock back, wind slow move and attack speed or something like that. Picking a dragon should have more effect than Q and R.

R A bit more clarification please :-p. can you move below level 16 while ult'ing? if so 16+ is a massive penalty. Maybe 6 cant move, 12 moves 35%, 16 moves 70%? ranges are WAY to short for level 6. Range width of 300x100, 500x300, 700x500 ramp up sounds better, but I want to see an epic dragons breath. like the longer it is breathing the breath attack the wider the width goes (from starting from 100 and going out the the max after 2 seconds) and the fire/earth/water/wind breath lingers for 2 seconds so you can swath it back and forth. Scaring off any challengers, or making sure anyone foolish enough to get caught in the attack suffer. Fire's burns % seems all over the place, passive 2% for 4 seconds, Q 3% for 5 seconds, R 5% for 4 seconds making 43% over 4-5 seconds. and if you land a E at max level add 13% (52% if it ticks every second). If all of its attacks apply a 2% max health burn, all of the other skills should just be damage. Earth-6 would have zero range, and I don't see siege damage as a good thing. I honestly don't like earth's ult being able to damage towers, but that may be just my opinion. What if earth had multiple charges for its ult, and it could spit penetrating rocks that reduced armor? maybe blind/nearsight? Water's ult just seems bland to me... I just keep thinking of water like firehose knocking units away over and over pinning them to a wall as long as it keeps breathing. Air's Invulnerable seems unneeded and a bit unfair... slowing move/attack speed + silencing + nearsight those caught in the cone seems more fair than not being able to affect an attacker for 4 seconds (Kayle ult only last 3 seconds without extra damage)

Again I really like the idea of such a fluid champion that is able to specialize better to a role while in the game. I think that each dragon should be push towards a role or specialization. I wonder if it would be playable WITHOUT a dragon... Hard mode! like playing Dan in street fighter, or beating ff tactics with only chemists.

ANASTASIA UPDATED VERSION 2.0 This is the updated version of the concept. I hope tha ti can claryfy a few things.


Base stats still the same


Note: Scalings with Anastasia These scalings will show that they chang with her 3 dragon levels: [xx/xx/xx] These scalings show normal scale for a basic ability or ultimate while leveling it up: xx/xx/xx/xx/xx or xx/xx/xx in case of ultimate. If there are missing scalings that means that there is no scaling bebefit on this level: xx//xx//xx


Passive – Dragon trainer Offspring: This passive should claryfy the effect of a few items with Anastasia. She is ranged so the hydras wont work. If she buys ruunans Hurricane she will get 2 additional baby dragons who will attack like ruunans does. The cone of the level 16 dragon is no "onhit effect" ruunans could multiply.

Breeding Station: Anastasia can left click a tower to set up a breeding station. The tower gets a shield of 75 hp that regains over time. She has to user her basic abilitys while breeding and has no additional effects.

The effect of your species is decreased by 50 % as long as you carry the egg. Level 6 – Baby Dragon The Dragon has to breed in a breeding station for 45 seconds. You will carry a dragon baby from this point on. The dragon will deal 20% of your AD. Level 12 – Teen Dragon The Dragon has to breed in a breeding station for one minute. Your teen dragon will follow you from this point on. The dragon will deal 30% of your AD. Level 16 – Dragon The Dragon has to breed in a breeding station for one minute and 30 seconds. You are nwo able to ride your dragon. Only your dragon can attack now, dealing 130% of your AD and damaging all enemys in a cone behind the target for 50% of the your AD.

Congrats! You are now a succesfull dragon trainer. :D

Slows them by 10//15//20% 3. Water dragon 10% decreased missle speed Aoe damage 30%less damage Slows enemys by 20//30//40% Can hit allies and heals them by 20 (+20/25/30/35/40% AD) hp. 4. Air dragon 30% increased missle speed Damage gets reduced by 15% for every target it moves through Range stays at 900 AoE damage at all levels. Increases attack speed and movement speed of all allies nearby by 30% for 4 seconds

Level 6/12 Anastasia still throws out her lasso. The dragon bites the target for 2/2.5/3/3.5/4 seconds, deals 5/7/9/11/13% (+1% AD) of its maximum health with 20//30//40% armor penetration over the duration of the bite. The target is slowed by 10//20//30% and grounded for this time.

Level 16 The dragon jumps on a target (200 radius) and bites as seen above. The target is silenced for 50% of the duration after 25% of the duration. (target not silenced for 25% and then its silenced for 50% of the duration and then its not silenced for the last 25%)

Anastasia can't attack the targets whilecasting for 1.5 seconds in all cases.

The dragon breathes in one direction affecting all enemys around and in a cone in front of him. (700 cone lenght) (500 max. cone width) (200 radius around him)
