WIP Champion Concept for a bodyless soul: Anivma the Free Spirit
So I started coming up with this last week and have been stuck for a bit not knowing what to really do to round out the design.
I just figured I'd go ahead and post what I have so far because it includes concepts featured in a very recent JeremyGamingCurios video and I figured it'd only be a matter of time before someone else posted something similar and I'd be branded a rip off once I finally finished this. Rather than have that happen, I decided to put it up now and ask if anyone has any ideas I can use since I'm stuck anyways. So here it is:
Basically I came up with a story about how one of the first few civilizations to ever achieve a steampunk kind of level of technology tried to combine it with magic to create life. They built a very complex robot to serve as the body and powered it exclusively with magical energy because other means would never yield enough power for it run for a long time. They also used magic to create an entity that functioned as a simplistic mind and could be bound to stuff(like say, the robot) and this was supposed to pass for the soul of the thing. This artificial consciousness was preconditioned to want to "help others" and put into the robot. Once the whole thing was ready it took tons of work to teach it to do even basic or simple things and once it did learn to do something it used up much more energy than the simple action needed. Sustaining this hard to maintain, almost useless, very energy intensive "creature" was not seen as worth it, so they pulled the plug on it's power source assuming that the soul would just fuck off to wherever the souls of real living things go but it didn't, it just stuck around and left the robot body once it gave up on trying to move it which it no longer could. It then started roaming the world "possessing" things and people every chance it got to assist people in doing whatever they were doing as per its "programming".
Gameplay wise I'm going for a support kit intended to help 1 ally escape a bad situation or help the 1 ally kill 1 enemy to keep in line with the whole theme of helping the first person you see with their immediate objectives. I'm also making it so the champion is manaless but is also heavily incentivized to not waste its abilities. There will be a default body the champ will spawn with, what it looks like and stuff will be decided as I flesh the story out more and one of the abilities will let you leave it inanimate and take over other bodies, the secondary resource bar will show the default body's HP.
For the kit so far I have:
Q: Soul Burn(or some kind of reference to a spirit being hurt by fire) Targeted Range: around 550-600 ish Cooldown: a little on the long side, but not overboard. Maybe around 10 or so at least at rank 1.
Target enemy or neutral unit is revealed for 5(or so)secs. During this time they are dealt a small amount of magic damage as a DoT and all basic attacks that hit it will deal increased damage(some percentage that scales with rank and maybe AP).
W: Lost Soul(I insist on this name, no objections will be heard) Toggled...? Active? idk Range: N/A Cooldown: 0
Passive: While Anivma is in the body of an allied or neutral unit(including the default body) it receives 75% of the damage and healing done to that unit.(an AoE ability that would affect both does not stack)
Active: On activation, Anivma leaves whatever body it is currently in and can move around as a ghost that ignores unit collision, can't use basic attacks and is immune to CC and physical damage. While Anivma is not in its default body, it sits inactive with reduced Armour and Magic Resist and takes any damage that is dealt to the ghost. If its HP hits zero it is destroyed and that has all the same effects on the game as a regular champion deaths including affecting scores and awarding bounty gold to killers but Anivma itself doesn't die.
Full ghost Anivma can target any unit(except structures, baron and dragon) within melee range of it with this ability to channel for an amount of time that depends on what type of unit the target is. If the target stays within the short range until the channel finishes, Anivma enters their body, gaining full control of it if it is not a champion.
Full ghost Anivma cannot use its other abilities. In other words, you can only press your buttons if you are in SOME body.
Channel Times: Small minions(including jungle monsters): instant Stationary pet(Turrets, Plants): instant for allied, 1 sec for enemy Small pets(voidlings): instant for allied, 1.5 sec for enemy Large minion/monster(Blue, Super Minion, Tibbers): 1sec for ally, 2secs for enemy or neutral Champion: 2.5 secs for ally,
E: Target Targeted Range: fairly short: around 500-550
Active: Marks target unit for a short time(around 5 or so secs). Allied champions gain movement speed while moving towards marked units. If an allied champion is marked it games a short burst of movement speed and the duration of CC effects and disables on that champion are reduced drastically while it is marked.
R: Live to Serve Toggle Range: N/A Cooldown: 60/40/20 Cost: 0 to toggle, 5% of current HP per 0.5 seconds while toggled on. Turns off and may not be turned on while at 20% of max health or less.
While toggled on: Cannot cast other abilities. Apply appropriate effect to current body.
For enemy champion: Suppress.
For allied champion: Continuously generate a strong shield that wears off quickly.
For large monsters: Gain 100% movement speed, 50% attack speed, 0-500% AD(depending on level), take 0-50% reduced damage.
I'm not really sure what would be a good passive though.
