[Archetype Concept Idea] Stag/Forest god

Riot loves to create archetype champions for the League, and why woundn't they?They have proved that each champion so far represents a class of its own. Knowing that base ideas for champion archetypes comes from folklore,mythology or other media I have noticed a character that appears often and i would love to see riot make a champion out of it.

The concept of the White Stag holds a place in the mythology of many cultures often depicted him roaming the land as the god of all wild things and nature, woodlands, fertility, and the hunt. The Celtic people considered him to be messengers from the Spirit world. In Eastern Mythology his counterpart is the chimerian creature known as Qilin and it is often mistaken for the western unicorn.His appearence always represented a good omen thought occasion of prosperity or serenity. In modern versions of the tale this **Forest God ** has often depicted with tree branches for antlers maybe to establish a more stable image of his connection to the forest and often assosiated with the moon and various spirit assets.

It is a concept that i would love to see as champion in the League of Legends because i believe it fills all the requarment nessecary to become a champion!!!

  1. It is an archetype
  2. It has often appered in folklore and other media(See Harry Potter,Narnia,Snowhite,Princess Mononoke etc.)
  3. it has many potetial for future skins
  4. It would be a very fresh add to the roster as every new champion does

His powers could be nature/spirit based or even physical.(plus it would grow the number of nature champions beyond Maokai, Zyra and creature champions) It could bring luck to his allies and stike with godlike wrath his enemies. All the power of the Spirits of the Forest.

This is just a suggestion.You could support this idea if you liked to see a Stag/Forest god and who knows maybe Riot already has something similar in their scope. ;) An image equals a thousand words.So take a look:

Only if his joke mentions Stag parties.

Not really, though. I would play the f*ck out of this guy even without such a joke.

i actually really agree with you on this concept. it would be a nice fresh on Champions because LOL has very little almost non-exsistance of any "actual" animal based Champiosn sure Elise can turn into a giant spider but she is original human not animal same thing can be siad about Shyvana who only can be a dragon a creature of power, wisdom & etc for only a short period of time which is lame that is why i was hyped when i saw Ao Shin would be the next upcoming Champion but got canceled. in conclusion about the White Stage himself for play-style...... i can she him being build 1 of 2 or 3 ways.

Play-Style #1: Support/Fighter. as you said he is a woundering lord of the forest making sure that Nature is preserved & fertile, with this in mind he could use the power of Nature & having Spirits of Nature keep his team healthy & provide good protection while also being able to aid his team in combat.

Play-Style #2: Tank/Fighter. going back to his care take of Nature he could use to make him a true force of nature making him unstoppable to CC for periods of time & being able to dish out devastating damage with minior CC of his own.

Play-Style #3: Pure Fighter. this one is based around his role in the Hunt, like he could be a Minion-manncer Champion summoning spirits of animals or hunters to aid him in the fight or he can utalizing Natures power as powerful buffs for himself & for his summons or allies.

................this maybe not be a good idea but if it is alright i would like to make a concept of 1 of these Play-Style & have you review it to see if it IS what you actually had in mind for how this Champion play as?

I like this. Most "animal" champions are anthropomorphic or monster-based, so a full creature champion would be interesting.

I was thinking the same thing a few weeks ago! But I figured they might not do it because Maokai already (kind of) fills the spot of "protector of nature" and I couldn't really see his kit having anything in it that didn't resemble Maokai or Hecarim too closely. But the other day I was thinking about a skill they could give to a new champion where you basically make a portal that allows you and your allies to move through a wall, maybe like a temporary team-wide rek'sai tunnel, but only for going across walls. Maybe if they gave this to a Nature Protector sort of champ the idea would be like the Stag shows you a parting between the trees? (Except the new rift has mostly rocky surfaces for walls...)

Don't mind me changing the name. Alceus seems to be just gibberish anyway, and we need more Q names. (Quietus is latin for tranquil)

Quietus - The Voice of the Forest

===== P: Elusive ===== Quietus regenerates 1.0/1.5/2.0/2.5/3.0% of his max health and mana each second, and moves 30% faster so long as the enemy team cannot see him.

===== Q: Spirits of the forest ===== Cooldown: 15 seconds Cost: 60/70/80/90/100 mana

Quietus summons 5 wisps, that he uses for his next 5 basic attacks. The wisps have a range of 500 meters, and deal 30/40/50/60/70 +1.0 AD +0.3 AP magic damage. Each wisp has a slightly longer range than the last, increasing by 50 meters for every wisp depleted. If a wisp is used on an enemy champion then the wisp will heal an ally within 300 meters of the point of impact by 30/40/50/60/70 +0.30 AP health. This heal prioritizes champions with low health.

===== W: Through the woods ===== Cooldown: 16/14/12/10/8 seconds Cost: 45 mana

Quietus jumps to a location within 450 meters, but he can jump 900 meters if he is unseen when he casts this skill. Enemies within 250 meters of his landing point will be slowed by 30% for 1 second and take 40/80/120/160/200 +10% of your max health as physical damage. If Quietus lands in the brush then he won't deal damage, but the cooldown will be reset. Also if Quietus jumps from an unseen place, to an unseen place, then he will be invisible during the jump.

===== E: Life tree ===== Cooldown: 1 second Cost: 60/70/80/90/100 mana

Quietus uses a seed to plant a small sapling at a location within 900 meters of him that doesn't already have a tree or sapling within 500 meters of it. Quietus gains 1 seed every 35/32/29/26 seconds, and can hold a total of 7. If an enemy steps on the sapling then it will die and you will gain vision of that enemy for 3 seconds, but if the sapling remains untrampled for 10 seconds then it grows into a tree. Trees cannot be planted within the ranges of living friendly or enemy turrets. Saplings can be hidden in brush, but once they have grown up they are plainly visible to all. Each tree has health equal to 200/275/350/425/500 +0.8 AP +20% of your max health, and will transfer up to 10% of its max health per second to each nearby damaged ally champion. This effect gets weaker the farther one is from the tree. It transfers 3 less health per second for every meter past 200 meters. Enemies standing within 200 meters of the tree are slowed by 30% and revealed if they are not invisible, but the tree loses 20% of its max health per second for every enemy champion near it. The tree is treated as a minion, and can block skill shots, but it cannot be targeted, moved, healed, or damaged by any of the conventional means. The tree disappears after 10 minutes, or once its health runs out.

===== R: Ethereal form =====

Quietus ascends to his ethereal form. While in this state his spells are replaced by their ethereal counterparts. Ethereal spells don’t have cooldowns of their own, but using one puts ethereal form on a 120/100/80 second cooldown. Ethereal spells increase in power as you rank up this ability.

===== Q: Spirits of the ether ===== Cost: 150 mana

Quietus summons a wisp of ethereal energy to stalk every enemy champion for 5 seconds regardless of distance. If an enemy falls below 100/200/300 +0.60 AP health while the wisp is attached to them then the wisp is consumed and the target starts to take 200/350/500 +0.60 AP true damage over 5 seconds. This skills damage is like a turret in regards to the fact that it does not take credit when it secures a kill. If Quietus was the last champion to hit the target before they died, then he will get credit for the kill, but if he was not then he will just get an assist.

===== W: Through the ether ===== Cost: 200/150/100 mana

After a brief channel, Quietus jumps to any location that his team has sight of, regardless of distance. The channel time is increases the farther Quietus is from his target location. Quietus can be targeted from both his starting location, and his target location while channeling, but he takes 50/60/70% reduced damage. If this skill is interrupted, or if Quietus dies before he can finish, then ethereal forms cooldown is reduced to 20 seconds.

===== E: Ether tree ===== Cost: 150 mana

Quietus makes a massive ethereal tree instantaneously sprout up from the ground at a location within 1000 meters of him. The tree deals 150/200/250 +0.35 AP magic damage, knocked up, then stunned, and then roots all enemies within a 550 meter radius of its entry point. The collective duration of the knock up, stun, and root effects ranges from 1.2 to 3 seconds depending on how close to the center the enemies are. After the tree pops up it leaves a 70 meter impassable tree trunk for 5/6/7 seconds. While this tree trunk lasts it projects a 550 meter aura that slows enemies and speeds up allies by 6/8/10% to 18/24/30% depending on how close they are to the tree trunk. Allies that are occupying the space that this trunk spawns at are pushed in the direction they are facing until they’re out of the way, but enemies are just pushed out in whatever direction is closest.

===== R: Material form =====

Quietus returns to his material form. Using this skill does not put ethereal form on cooldown.

Unique item: Quietus cannot purchase the hunter's machete. However, he can buy a special item called natures child that can be upgraded into natures chosen, and then finally natures avatar.

===== Natures child ===== Total gold cost: 400 +5% converted monster speed +10% reduced damage from monsters +2 AP per level UNIQUE passive, wild empathy:

===== Natures chosen ===== Total gold cost: 1400 +10% empathy output +10% converted monster health +10% converted monster damage +10% converted monster speed +15% reduced damage from monsters +3 AP per level UNIQUE passive, wild empathy: UNIQUE active, hand of the wild:

===== Natures avatar ===== Total gold cost: 2800 +20% empathy output +20% converted monster health +20% converted monster damage +20% converted monster speed +20% reduced damage from monsters +5 AP per level +10 health per level +10 mana per level UNIQUE passive, wild empathy: UNIQUE active, hand of the wild:

===== UNIQUE passive, wild empathy ===== Quietus can no longer hurt none epic monsters, and his basic attacks against them are replaced with empathetic gaze. Empathetic gaze draws aggro, but doesn't deal damage, instead it applies 15x level +0.3 AP empathy per second to whatever monster he is currently staring at. Quietus also applies 5x level +0.1 AP empathy to monsters that hit him. Empathy fills up like a resource, but will decay rapidly if the monster is left alone for too long. When its empathy is full the monster will be converted to your side, but monsters require more and more empathy to convert them as the match progresses. When you successfully convert a monster you gain all the gold and buffs that you would have gotten from killing it, but the monster will also remain alive, and will continue to guard its camp in the jungle. Monster will never attack other monsters even if they are/aren't converted, and attacking a converted monster won’t draw the ire of none converted monsters. Conversion lasts for as long as the monster would have been awaiting respawn. Converted monsters will automatically attack enemies that they catch sight of, but they won’t go too far from their camp, just like normal monsters. Friendly monsters don’t heal when out of combat, and are also significantly weaker than their wild counterparts. The enemy team can kill your friendly monsters, but they will only get a small fraction of the gold, experience, and none of the buffs. Converted monsters have a special effect that follows them to signal their convention. Also if Quietus has smite then it will be replaced with wild call.

===== Summoner spell, wild call ===== Quietus gains the smite bonus of nearby monsters, and applies one of two effects depending on whether they’re friendly or not. Monsters that aren't friendly or epic gain 25% of their max empathy, and are stunned for 3 seconds. Monsters that are friendly gain 25% additional max health for 3 seconds, and they will apply a 1.5 second stun to the enemy they hit with their next attack. Epic monsters will take 450 to 1000 true damage, and minions who are within range will take 225 to 500 true damage. 45 second cooldown.

===== UNIQUE active, hand of the wild ===== Quietus gives any jungle buffs that he currently has to an ally champion that is within 550 meters of him. The duration of the buffs are conserved between passes. 20 second cooldown.

Give me a Rudolph skin and I'd be in heaven xD

SulkingRaccoon12/20/2014, 3:21:36 AM2 votes

Very cool idea. I hope more people get to see this. I can imagine his lore being very connected to Maokai's.

PokladnicaZla12/21/2014, 5:30:39 PM2 votes

This is an amazing concept.A few questions: a)Have you thought about him as being fused with nature,like antlers+branches?Similar like this? http://image.shutterstock.com/display_pic_with_logo/689227/689227,1327436399,2/stock-vector-deer-with-antler-like-tree-in-bloom-spring-background-93502153.jpg

b)What about class?I can see him as a support/tank.Maybe an ability that allows him to summon some kind of plant,tree.. that as long as it remains on the field heals allies per second they are near it?

Conergance7/17/2015, 2:34:56 AM1 votes

only thing i think that riot may do is something resembling the white bison from native american tales. it's the only tru animal god i think would fit in this instance. but i do love your idea noentheless

I need this in my life. Like. Need.

I havent read all of the replies, but maybe make him as some type of counter-kit to thresh? My brain has so many crazy ideas of what he should be- there are literally a crud-ton of possibilities on this, and I love all of them. I'm really gunning for a great support, though I know we did just add braum to the roster, I just dont see this guy as a mage etc. I see him as a protector and guider, like a cross between Janna heal utility etc and alistar knock ups. Maybe give him some type of additional bonus in the jungle as well, like Kalista's passive but with jungle camps instead? That would be crazy wicked....I just. I want.

Dont screw this up riot. I have faith ^___^

I really like the idea of a deer/moose/elk based champion.

Savexel12/21/2014, 1:15:40 AM1 votes

I think demigod and god-like champs are a great idea

Major Hardstuck12/21/2014, 2:46:35 AM1 votes

I'd love to see udyr's spirituality tie into the stag, I love crossover lores!

I personally would take this champ as a six skill champ, one skill having two effects depending on how it's used. bonus points for following a birch tree color pallette

SunlightSpearz12/22/2014, 3:56:31 AM1 votes

i like the idea, when i saw this i though of the forest god from princess mononoke, really interesting

GreenLore12/22/2014, 10:42:09 PM1 votes

Overall I really like the idea of a forest god,but I dunno how he would actually attack.

Making it so that he simply rams his opponents with his antlers/hit them with his hooves would make him look like a regular deer,but letting him shoot something would look out of place too.

Maybe some kind of other creature could accompany him and do the attacking?
