There's just something about riot gear that makes me uncomfortable, considering the political atmosphere around the world. Normal every day police uniforms are one thing, but with how much abuse happens during even peaceful protests around the world, even in the United States, this just makes me uncomfortable.
Very uncomfortable.
Do not want.
I think it's an acceptable skin concept. There's no need to associate such things with the company's name.
Afterall, they are named Riot.
That's like saying "I don't feel comfortable playing LoL because it's made by a company with a name associated with police brutaility."
I think it's a little bit on the "Oversensitive" side, but I get what you mean.
I'm not saying it can't happen, just that I wouldn't like it. Riot's name doesn't bother me, but images and symbolic representations of things associated with the abuse of power makes me uncomfortable.
If that's oversensitive I'm okay with that.
Because things like this: http://www.rferl.org/content/hong-kong-democracy-protests-clashes/26610272.html
-are happening all over the world. Peaceful protest is being escalated to civil unrest by police response and brutality. And this isn't just something that happens in countries without democracy either.
And then there are plenty of unreported examples of police officers doing their job, keeping the peace, and saving innocent people. I don't get your point.
I get his point, though. I'm okay with Riot K9 Nasus and Kayle, cuz that shit's awesome, but having tons of guards ganging up on a champion can be pretty haunting, especially if your family was or is affected by their abuse.
Yeah those two examples don't bother me. I mean I'm not a fan of them but they don't make me uneasy the way a row of baton in hand riot cops does.
But police brutality has nothing to do with Riot squads necessarily. Plenty of normal Cops abuse their power too. Are you uncomfortable with Officer Cait/Vi? I'm in the same boat as Lonetrey, I can understand where you're coming from, but it's a bit much. I mean, if we didn't have Riot squads, sure, peaceful protests might be a bit more peaceful, but the ones that are truly riots would also be more....riot-y. I guess what I'm trying to say is that Riot squads aren't the problem, it's the people working in the Riot squads.
I own Officer Vi and Officer Cait. It's specifically the idea of a row of officers in riot gear that makes me uncomfortable.
And I agree Riot squads aren't a problem in and of themselves, it's just that there are so many cases where force is used to quiet dissent, and in my mind at least this is inexorably linked to riot squads.
Man, if you are uncomfortable knowing that in a fictionary game there is a skin of a specific champion out of more than 100 than resemble the name of the company that created it, which evoches in you the idea of police brutality (which is actually wrong, as riot means "a noisy, violent public disorder caused by a group or crowd of persons, as by a crowd protesting against another group, a government policy, etc., in the streets." and the police that protects the non violent people are called riot police) even if nothing in the skin show that, it is not recalled in any sound and there isn't any hint,
I really wonder how you can see a cook turned on knowing that fire killed and kills so many peope around the world, and how can you actually use a PC/smartphone to read this forum, knowing this exploits people in undeveloped countries to mine the materials/assemble the components.
For real, get out of your immaginary world in your head and start living in the real on, OR be consistent and then be afraid of whatever can be linked with an absurd chain of rasons to something that might be considered bad.
I'm conflicted as to whether I should reply but well I'd like to believe you're not just trolling. Good faith and all that.
If you read through this very thread you'll see that I'm being even handed here. I'm not saying I'd stop playing the game. I'm not making any demands. I'm simply stating that this specific idea makes me uncomfortable.
Your reply borders on being hostile and I don't understand why my opinion bothers you so much. What's up with that?
I'm not trolling at all, but I find your idea odd compared to the rest of the (exuse me) "normal" people that, seeing something that maybe is not totally ok with themselves, just ignore it.
I definittely didn't read the whole thread and I do not have intention to do so, but you nicely worded your concerns.
This sounds to me like "In GTA there is a man shooting, so all the school shotings are due to GTA". I'm probably not explaining it well enough, but if we censor everything that might upset someone, we'll be left with nothing. You are stating that you are not making any demands, but someone that just read the other posts that I read and doesn't read the last one you wrote, might thing that you are asking not to do it. I believe it is way better for everyone if there was no restriction (except extremely hard corner cases) on expression and whoever is touched negatively by something ignores it, rather than preventing from expression.
And now I'm specifically thinking to all the politically corect crap where people is trying to rename things, even if this won't change the semantic at all.
But as you worded it, seems like you are just saying "if you do that, I'll ignore it", so it's perfectly ok.
PS: I'd understand your being uncomfrotable only if you were in a dictatorship or something like that. I don't think you are (otherwise I'm sure you'd have a better use of your internet than lol ;) ), so I strongly believe you have the misconception that police is against the population, which is not in democratic countries. (the U.S. might be an exception here though)
Okay, well... we all jump to conclusions from time to time I suppose.
Still think there is a small difference between 1 champion and a champion + his 2 or 6 minions. I think that's more whre I see a problem. I think that's the problem.
It might not be related solely with riot squads. But I personally see more publicised squad violence than 1 cop on 1 guy violence.
I voted Yes but I have to kinda agree on this one. I guess it really depends on where in the world you are. But yeah.
Great idea for a skin.
yes this should be warden azir... a legacy skin kind of like the riot skins. Rito make this happen.
I think it would be even cooler is Azir's passive were helicopters.
Also I really like the idea. Would buy
The only possible way that i can see Azir as a riot control chief or what so ever, is if (like you said) the knight of the wall have riot shields. The knight you would summon have battering rams for knocking down doors, And the tower he summons looks like a prison tower or sentry turret.
But the hardest part is he himself. Due to him being a mage with a scepter, what will he hold in place of that?? The only thing i could possibly think of is he holds a baton taser that shoots electricity like a taser gun would.
I'm actually surprised at how this blew up. It just hit me that he was a perfect candidate for this and i'm sure someone at Riot saw this as well but knew it would be unfair for Azir to have Riot skin that was permanent or to let him have 3 skins on release that the others this year didn't have.
No pls I don't wanna see any more azir
Stop joking Jerry, you know you love Harvey Bird Man.
