6 Ways to bring back Dominion

Let's talk about some ways that we could revitalize Dominion's player base. (From easiest to implement to hardest)

  1. Hexakill - Making this map 6v6 would fix a major problem: There's not enough big team fights- so champions that are only strong at team fighting aren't viable.

  2. Ranked Dynamic Queue. Having a ranked queue would give dominion fans an incentive to play it more often. Dynamic is perfect for Crystal scar because some people are going to go solo, but most people are going to team up.

  3. Lower Cooldowns - Give Dominion a global cooldown reduction(10-20%) and then raise the cooldown cap by the same %.

  4. Better item clarity. Let's try to keep all the Summoner's rift items in the game and just add a few powerful map specific items that give bonuses to certain playstyles and underpowered champion types. (Like support and ADC)

  5. More objectives - There's lots of potential here, but here's a couple ideas I have- Put an epic monster in the center. It should give stacking buffs like Dragon. Instead of last hitting it, make it so that it has to be captured to claim the buff, (Move storm shield buffs) Another idea - Mercenary camps that join your team and help you take turrets after you defeat them.

  6. Give the maps a full face lift. Shurima has been suggested and I think that's a great idea for the setting.

Dominion has a lot of good points: It's fast, it's high intensity, and it's perfect for dynamic queue. If we can just bring a few features in line with the modern game, we can bring it back into the same casual/competitive popularity that we have on Twisted Treeline and Howling Abyss.

Also implement champion mastery. No reason to not earn points when you're able to select who you want to play.

  1. No? I might like to see this as a temporary featured mode to see how it affects things. My guess is that 5 top would put too much constant ganking pressure on bot and force a double bot meta.

  2. Yes (to the flexible solo/party part). Obviously it doesn't need the role selection part. There are only 2 and people never really argue over them anyway.

  3. No, but forcing the main matchmade URF onto Dominion this year would be nice.

  4. No. There's a reason a lot of SR items are removed. We do need a big item rebalance patch tho. The lack of AP trap detection since the removal of spookyghosts is just painful, the new cheaper version of BF could use working back into some recipes, pillager needs a reversion or just swap for IE if you reintroduce BF, etc.

  5. Eeeeh..... Definitely no to your specific ideas, but an overhaul of the quest system and stormshields might be nice. Anything new would need a lot of testing tho.

  6. Yes. VU please.

If they do a VU or full map rework, I would like to see one small change made to the scoring for the sake of attracting more people and adding excitement to the end of the game.

Invert the scores. Instead of draining the opponent's, make it so that you charge your own nexus. In your example SHurima setting, this may be visually represented by deploying and energizing a large sun disk, which, upon victory, sends out a blast to destroy the enemy nexus.

And for the final (50? some number) points, have them quickly decay if you are not in control. It creates a tense endgame where your team actually has to close it out with a solid play, while allowing for some nice comebacks. It also helps against the current respawn advantage comeback stomps. Since it decays, you can't be the team who is stuck at 497 with constant respawn advantage to the opponents as they trample you and take your win away. Instead, once they hit that endgame threshold the advantage stops, and your team gets a better chance to make one big solid play to close out the game.

The Crystal Scar is my favorite map! It's a completely different play style from Summoner's Rift and the Twisted Treeline (which, to me, seems monotonous). And it's a lot less swingy than ARAM where, oftentimes, the game is determined in champ select.

I'd like to see Riot implement some of these ideas. I especially liked 5 and 6. The Crystal Scar could use a face-lift and adding neutral monsters could breathe new life into the Crystal Scar. It could also discourage the use of bot programs which are frustrating to play with.

I especially like your idea of an epic monster in the center, both because SR and TT both have a monster (or two) that fits the theme of the map, but also because Ascension was my favorite Featured Game Mode.

I also agree with Desiderium that the current limiting of Champion Mastery should be reexamined, and I have heard rumors that expanding mastery is under consideration.

I also wish they would bring back the Ascension game mode for a bit

or remove it and make it go back up once in a while and give us urf instead

I'm just pissed because I can't play hide and seek or King of Scar anymore. And I never got to play kick the teemo! takes break to wipe tears from his face with his sleeve I think it would be amazing if RIOT could bring back the map with those games as official gamemodes, or just let us use it in customs still. Or if they really want to get us hyped they can wait a year and then bring it back like URF and all for one.

WTF is dominion? [zombie-brand-mindblown]

Yizus7/26/2019, 11:27:47 AM1 votes

@Riot bring back dominion. You said it was deleted because it wasn't popular enough to balance. We dominion players would like balance but we would rather have the mode back. I miss dominion, i would play it more than SR quite often.

Something i think could have been done, was add a bonus to defenders. like a small damage, hp, or mr n armor buffs

A thought is to take the left and right bases and move them up and out. Take the top middle base and move it down into the jg. add a separate jg area top middle. It might make it worse.

You're forgetting a very obvious problem. The reason why I stopped playing Dominion is because of the number of botters who use Dominion to level their accounts. The last Dominion game I played before I gave up had 7 bots between 2 teams. I, being the only actual player on my team, had to play against 2 actual players on the opponents team. Guess who lost?

I think it should be slightly longer too, with more emphasis on pushing the minions instead of just going strait for the capture points

Maybe make the points like towers
