In response to Meddler's: Some thoughts on Support
I have a couple ideas-
Recognition of success as support Improve end game stats. First- show KDA ratio and not just KDA. Supports often have just as good ratio as other members of the team and many new players think support aren't fun just because they don't see big numbers in the first column. Second- show Kill participation %. This stat is often higher for supports than most other roles. Show "damage boosts" as damage dealt by the support not the carry. (Vladmir's ult is a good example, but I'm sure there's others)
Itemization Eliminate Sightstone entirely. Slightly lower the cooldown of warding totem to compensate. Eliminate Sweeping Lens and put its ability (and similar abilities) onto a few support and jungle items (and an assassin item, because they're the ones who really want to hide in a bush)
The Game outside the Game There just need to be MORE support champions. I know they're hard to create, but people ALWAYS buy them, and we all play them. We all Love Braum and Thresh! There must be 50 tops and 40 mids, but there's less than 20 supports. When you consider that there are Many different types of supports, the number feels extremely few.
Gold income as support Stop giving more gold to the person who gets the last hit. Just divide it evenly among all members of the team who got a kill or assist.
Also Riot, please give me an interview. I apply every year, and not even in design, but I've never gotten more than instant rejection. I wish I could be part of your team. Just give me an interview so I can show you how much working for Riot would mean to me.
