Doran should totally be a champion who's passive lets you choose if his abilities are AD or AP

You guys, read the Journal of Justice. They explain who Doran is and why his items are terrible/first buy.

He was a young genius item crafter, who, on his way to the Institute of War broke a wheel on his cart. When he stopped to fix it, his horse kicked him in the head. He had severe brain damage but was allowed to continue crafting out of pity. Now he just makes a bunch of small, weak items.

Actually, I was suggesting the idea as a joke due to the fact that the "Doran's" items usually show whether you are building AD or AP (or going tanky), but there's never any in-game explanation of who Doran is and why he made items commonly used in the beginning of League matches.

Doran was a prodigy weaponsmith. He made some of the finest weapons in all the land. Then he got kicked in the head by a mule, and became derped. The league took pity on him, and let him make simple items so he could still do what he loves. It's explained in the backstory stuff, like everything else.

But on Jax you can build Gunblade and Trinity and literally anything else as long as you have one or both of those, which are both hybrid items.

He does hybrid damage. It is obviously not best to build him with a bunch of hybrid items, because he depends on attack speed so much. W and ult procs add up a LOT.
