Aravel, the Ace on the Horizon
Description: This is my last Screaming Yipsnake champion concept I'm going to make. At least for now. If you guys remember long time ago, I've tried making this concept before. Aravel is a Fighter class Pilot, capable of continuing to tail enemy units, enabling him to fire his weapons accurately and more effectively. His gameplay is based on the gameplay of Ace Combat Horizon, you are either shooting your rockets from a distance or tail the enemy, firing your guns up close and personal. Here's the details.
Stats: Attack - 90% Health - 40% Magic - 90% Difficulty - 90%
Attributes: Primary - Marksman Secondary - Fighter
Abilities: Passive - Up Close and Personal Aravel deals 10% more damage if he close to his target.
First Ability - Missile Lock Aravel can shoot a missile at a target direction in front of him. These missiles will detonate and deal AOE magic damage upon impact of the first target it hits or against large terrain, or when it reaches the end of its range. Missile Lock is capable of locking onto targets. If Aravel targets an enemy with basic attacks and if the enemy is within the maximum range of Missile Lock, in 2 seconds, the target will be locked and firing a missile will fly towards the target but with limited steering, dealing more AOE damage but with a smaller radius of detonation. It can still be blocked by terrain or enemy units. Missile Lock can remain locked onto to Aravel's target until they move out of range or Aravel switches his basic attack towards a different target. There is one missile on each side of the plane. Activating the ability will fire each one in or from left to right. Missile Lock has an ammunition that loads up to two missiles. Each missile has an independent reload time of 3 seconds.
Second Ability - Evasive Maneuvers Aravel uses evasive maneuvers to fly at a target direction, flying in a downward concave path (Up then Down), unable to be targeted as he flies at the target direction. If an enemy champion is within the path of Evasive Maneuvers when it is activated, Aravel will use his flying skills to fly behind the target.
Third Ability - Combat Machine Gun For 4 seconds, Aravel fires his Combat Machine Gun in a target direction in front of him, dealing physical damage per second against the first enemy standing within range of fire. Damage stacks the longer it remains firing its target. Combat Machine Gun will not hinder his movement so he can still use other attacks and movement while Combat Machine Gun is firing.
Ultimate - Dog Fight Mode
When tailing an enemy champion in motion, Aravel uses Dog Fight Mode to force the enemy to have a limited steering down to 45 degree turns or less for 4 seconds. Aravel follows the path of his target, including champions who use abilities that move over terrain. Aravel is also able to copy his target's current motion speed so he can keep up with his targets. The tailed enemy is unable to use abilities that requires rooting them in place. However, the use of their abilities will not hinder their movement but will not disable Aravel. If the target or Aravel collides into an impassible terrain, they will take physical damage, 10% of their current motion speed. (Here's an example of how it works. If
uses Paranoia to warp to another target, Aravel's Dog Fight Mode will allow him to continue tailing Nocturne at that same speed. Another example would be
using Unstoppable Onslaught to move away. Aravel can use Dog Fight to tail Sion moving at the same speed he's moving even if he gains speed.) If Dog Fight Mode is interrupted by collision of terrain caused by either Aravel or his target or when Dog Fight Mode is activated again to disable it, Dog Fight Mode will have a lower cool-down depending on how soon it is interrupted after it is cast.
Dog Fight Mode can also be used on allies, enabling him to follow his ally target, able to attack other enemies around the front of him without hindering his movement.
Special Passive I - Top Ace Yipsnake If at least one fellow ace pilot from the Yipsnakes is on the same team, whichever pilot gets the most kills get 5 additional gold per kill and 10% bonus Influence Points at the end of the match.
Special Passive II - Fighter All of Aravel's attacks deal 10% more damage against airborne targets.
Synergy:
-
Works well with
These two love to compete to see who can get the most kills in one mission. Aravel can cast Combat Machine Gun at the same time Corki casts Gatling Gun, lowering the armor of the target, at the same time, stacking tons of damage. Though Aravel is most likely to earn the kill.
Aravel is always getting up close and personal with his target which gives Zilean the chance to use Time Bomb on Aravel, making t more likely to cause damage to targets around Aravel since he's mostly flying into the crowd. Zilean can save Aravel by using Chronoshift then Time Warp so Aravel can use his Evasive Maneuvers to fly back out of the hot zone.
It's always good to have a wing man on your side, or in this case, a wing woman. Kayle's Divine Blessing will help Aravel move fast to catch up and tail his opponents while Intervention provides cover for Aravel from incoming attacks around him. Once the shield is off, Aravel can use his evasive Maneuver to move away back to safety. -
Struggles against
When Braum is using Unbreakable, he can still move while the shield is up. So if Aravel attempts to tail Braum, especially when using Dog Fight Mode, all of Aravel's bullets and rockets are blocked by that shield. It sucks to shut the front door on Aravel.
Flying through poison is not a good idea. When Singed is being chased by Aravel when using Dog Fight Mode, he can use his Poison Trail to choke Aravel in the chemicals as Aravel attempts to shoot with rockets and bullets.
It is a terrible idea to fly through laser flying back at you. If Aravel uses Dog Fight Mode to fire bullets and rockets at Lucian, Lucian can still fight back using The Culling to fire lasers directly at Aravel's face (Or in Hired Guns Lucain's case, heavy bullets).
Tips:
- Playing as Aravel
You may be very effective fighting up close but doing so is very risky. You could find yourself flying behind enemy lines. When firing from a distance, use a forward and backward pattern motion towards your target so you'll always have a lock on and have better accurate shots with Missile Lock. Evasive Maneuvers can be used offensively as well. If an enemy is tailing you, target them with Evasive Maneuvers then quickly use Dog Fight Mode against them to counter tail their attacks.
- Playing against Aravel
Aravel is always getting up close and personal, and flying into ally territory. Use this advantage to attack him as your chased ally leads him to you. Keep your distance and move sideways from Aravel's direction to have a better chance of dodging his missile. Play fishing when Aravel is tailing you. Any ally with a terrain block ability will play as the net in a Dog Fight, making Aravel the big catch of the match.
Lore:
As a child, Aravel has always been fascinated with the tales of his ancestor, Mr. Wright whom was the first to invent flying machines. Many military groups made benefit of these flying machines for missions that take place against enemies walking down below. Soon, all military groups made use of Mr. Wright's invention, making modifications with the airplanes he invented. Ever since his passing, airplanes have begun to evolve to much more efficient weaponry. Air forces were being formed, and pilots were trained to use these advanced weaponry in Aerial Combat, one of them well known as the Top Ace
in a Squadron.
Aravel followed his dreams into becoming a pilot himself. He was soon able to join the Screaming Yipsnakes and his training made him one of the top aces in the Squadron with skills equal to the Top Ace himself, not only making these two rivals but also good friends. With both of their skills recognized by each other, they would always compete with one another to see who can get the most kills in one operation. At some points, one gets more than the other, but in the end, it all adds up into a tie, with a moment to hangout afterwards.
When the League of Legends came about, the Screaming Yipsnakes were disbanded and Aravel was left without a career and having to work in a farm back at his parent's house. To him, it was the most boring life he was forced to live with but that was the life his parents have always wanted him to live in. They really disapprove of his pilot career but his efforts prevent them from stopping him from continuing to pursue it. They were never so easy on Aravel as a kid and they still aren't easy on him afterwards and they were glad he's a farmer. Aravel on the other hand, he'd wish he'd been shot down.
Aravel could have lived the rest of his life forever as a farmer until he learned that the Top Ace Pilot has joined the League of Legends. This gave Aravel the influence to join him afterwards as a fellow League Champion. He ran away from home, or in his case, flew away in his old airplane his parents were planning on scrapping and went to Piltover to get it modified well enough to compete in the competition to fly side by side with the his best friend once again and continue their friendly Ace Piloting Rivalry together just like in the good old days in the sky.
"Gotta stay Fly, gotta stay Strong." - Aravel's Motto
Appearance: Aravel pilots a fighter class aircraft based on the design of the F-22 Raptor, the poster aircraft for the Ace Combat Franchise. http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/acecombat/images/b/bd/F22apo2.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20090514212428
His aircraft is just as big as
's, another way to show these two as equals and friendly rivals.

Sneak Peek Tricks: Corki will have a temporary hidden passive named "Gotta Stay Fly, Gotta Stay Strong" which will give Corki Aravel's passive, Up Close and Personal, but the effect source doesn't say it's from Corki. It will say that the source is coming from Aravel even though he is no where to be seen in the map.
