*The Black Rose as long been known for its talented mystics and illusionists; however, they are known first and formost as an agency dedicated to the education of bards from all over Valoran. Underneath this guise the Black Rose conducts court espionage on a continental scale, forever tipping the balance of power in their favor. *

Faltine is the Rose's premier correspondent, known throughout all the land for her immense magical talent and dramatic shows. A sharp-tongued femme fatale whose double life as a stage performer and covert spy is reflected in her every movement. Her elegance and wit mesmerize to create an air of spectacle. Faltine’s sharp observation, haughtiness and love for the pantomime are hallmarks that have to compose her famed persona. Underneath it all is a brooding woman whose cynicism and dark past has taught her that the world is just one big stage.

The rest of her dress has a distinct Mediterranean/middle eastern flavor with long flowing silks adorn with feathers, with a glamorous armbrace around her left arm. #CHAMPION INSIGHTS

How many ways are there to approach a fight? What tools does one need to disrupt the opposition and pull off a showstopping finish? A lot of what I investigated when approaching Faltine was how to be able to contribute to a fight without having access to high powered nukes or crippling crowd control?

The answer? Misdirection. From early on it was always known that Fatline would present herself as some sort of deceitful mage that could create unique windows of attack for her team. At first I toyed around with the idea of having an easily accessible silence for her to chuck around the battle field; however, such a power could be oppressive if too readily available. The result was an invention of two new status effects that would be unique to Faltine.

#Dazzled: over the course if its duration the effected target losses shared vision and has sight radius dramatically reduced before returning to normal.

#*Confusion: effected enemy champ has their direction inputs temporarily reversed. Autopathing is disabled over the duration. *

I also had a lot of fun determining how a champion fits into the “Fighter” archtype. To me, a “Fighter” is a champion who not only has the means to begin a fight but has some way of sustaining themselves within a fight or tilting the odds in their teams favor. Faltine does this with a myriad of ways to disrupt and distract the opposition with her many/complex skill combinations; however, she must remain in the fight if she wants to have access to the full power provided by her passive.

Guile accents Faltine’s evasiveness by granting her rewards for creative feints, use of baits and making playing in order to gain momentum. Faltine suffers from poke compositions and dive compositions as they don’t afford her large windows to gain stacks. The result is a deadly champion that while mechanically challenging can emerge victorious from battle unscathed.

PLAYSTYLE Faltine The Magnificent presents herself as an uncatchable nuisance that ruins any chance of mounting a coordinated assault. Faltine controls her opponents through deceit and trickery. While lacking crowd control and sustain damage, Faltine instead offers a myriad of disruption options: blinds, decoys and vision reduction. Faltine thrives in extended skirmishes giving her enough time to accumulate power through her passive before delivering a showstopping finish.

#ABILITY KIT

  • ** Guile : Faltine gains combat bonuses for outwitting her opponents! **

  • Glamour: Faltine releases a delayed pulse of energy that obscures the view of damaged champions.

  • Farce: Faltine dashes to target location augmenting her next basic attack or returning to her previous location

  • Prestige: Faltine becomes an untargetable wisp for 3 seconds then releases a shockwave that blinds enemy units.

  • Facade: Projects a mimic decoy of herself before escaping into stealth. Faltine can then blink to her decoy’s location.

#PASSIVE: Guile While in combat, whenever Faltine outwits enemy champions she gains 1 Stack of Guile gaining bonus effects based on how many Stacks of Guile she has. Upon exiting combat the stacks are reset to 0. Faltine is considered in combat if Facade is active.

Every Stack of Guile: +5 Bonus Movement Speed, +10% Attack Speed Every 3 Stacks of Guile: Stores a Charge of Glamour 7 Stacks of Guile: Lowers the cooldown of Faltine’s abilities by 13 seconds, 9 Stacks of Guile: Blocks next spell or attack (2 second duration) 13 Stacks of Guile: The cooldown of Façade is refreshed, gains 10 AP and 10 AD for each additional Stack of Guile

Gains 1 Stack of Guile: * applying confusion, damaging dazzled enemy champions, blocking spell or basic attack damage with active shields, being attacked by a blind enemy champion and Decoy taking damage from enemy champion.*

Q - Glamour

Faltine stores a Charge of Glamour as she accumulates Stacks of Guile. Faltine may store up to 2 charges.

**Active: **Faltine releases a bright orb of energy that, after a 0.75 second delay, travels quickly toward the targeted enemy’s cast location damaging all enemies in a line. Damaged enemy champs become Dazzled temporary losing shared vision and have reduced sight radius. This skill has no casting time but requires target to cast.

**Magic Damage: **100/150/200/250/300 (+100% Bonus AD) (+60% AP) Dazzled Duration: 0.25/0.33/0.5/0.75/1 second(s)

RANGE: 1400 | COOLDOWN: - | COST: 70/85/100/115/130 Mana +1 Charge

#W – Farce Active: Faltine leaves behind a return pad while quickly dashing to targeted location. For the next 6 seconds, Faltine’s next basic attack deals magic damage and confuses if targeted is an enemy champion. **Second Cast: **If Farce is reactivated before landing an attack, Faltine will return to her original location.

Magic Damage: 20/35/45/60/70 (+100% AD) (+50% AP) Confusion Duration: 0.5 (+0.25 per 100 Bonus AD)(+0.5 per 100 AP) seconds

**RANGE: 375 | COOLDOWN: 20/18/15/13/9 | COST: 40/45/55/75/70 Mana **

#E - The Prestige **Active: **Faltine morphs into an untargetable wisp for 3 seconds. At the end of the duration she releases a shockwave that damages and blinds surrounding enemy units facing her. While in this form Faltine may cast spells and avoids unit collision but still is vulnerable to area of effect spells.

**Magic Damage: **85/115/135/155/185 (+35% AP) **Blind Duration: **0.75 (+0.125 per 100 AP) seconds RANGE: 550 AoE | COOLDOWN: 30/25/21/17/13 | COST: 50/60/70/80/90 Mana

#R – Façade First Active: Faltine enters stealth for 3 seconds, gaining movement speed for the duration and leaving behind a decoy of herself.

**Decoy: **The decoy will mimic Faltine’s autopathing/ action at the time of cast. Decoy is uncontrollable after initial cast and provides no vision. If the decoy is destroyed Faltine becomes unstealthed.

**Second Active: **Faltine teleports to decoy’s location destroying it upon arrival. Faltine receives a shield based on her Guile stacks for 3 seconds.

Bonus Movement Speed: 0 (+15 per 100 AP) Decoy Duration: 7/9/13 **Decoy Health: *100 + (15 x Faltine’s level) Shield Strength: 100/125/150 (+50 x Current Stacks of Guile) Shield Duration: 3 seconds Fun Fact: Taunting prior to using Facade will leave a Decoy version of Faltine that will continuously bad mouth nearby enemy champions for its duration! * ** RANGE: - | COOLDOWN: 130/99/77 | COST: 130/130/130

**SKILL NOTES **

  • Faltine can gain Guile through the use of actives. Items such as Hexdrinker,
Archangel's Staff Locket of the Iron Solari and even spells such as Barrier are very efficient on her.

  • None of Faltine's spells impede her movement, allowing her to stay on the move while casting spells

  • The only way to stock Glamour (Q) is through clever use of Faltine's passive

  • If Prestige (E) is active before activating Facade (R) its effect will be transferred to the Decoy instead

  • The dash from Farce (W) can be used to safetly position during team fights, feint an assault,
set up autopathing for the** Decoy** on Facade (R) and even alter the angle of your Glamour skill shot.

#“This is the part where I quip.”

I love the quotes, they're all so good @_@

At any rate, I like your mockery of distortion, like an elegant copycat that didn't quite learn everything about the move itself but instead threw her own flair on it. The amount of thought and detail put behind the kit is extraordinary!

The E reminds me of DotA, if only for the ethereal from (or all those special cases flying around), not in a bad way of course :P

Dunno, I just find myself liking this concept a lot, the teaser didn't let me down at all!

Sorry it took me so long to get back to this!

I became obsessed with this concept sometime ago. Faltine was first and foremost a personality. I wanted "character" to be reflected in everything she said or did. I very much consider her a "troll" character. I don't say that to devalue what her kit offers, but to communicate that her playstyle/goals are different from other fighters . Her passive pretty much equates to she has to make you look like an idiot each and every time before killing you. I think there's a lot of design space to be had in the "distraction" , "sabotage" and "ambush" fields, and she defiantly ought to deliver on those counts. Faltine is a champion who players should be excited to play against because of the richness of counterplay and eager to fight if not just to show her up!

Thank you for your input. I intend to chalk up a little FAQ on her based off questions I've gotten from friends, as well as keep adding to her lore/ VO. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Milady, how honored I am to meet you!

Such a dazzling, and I do mean dazzling champion spotlight! The thing I found most interesting about the Distortion Passive is that it felt reminiscent to her persona, without giving insane values such as Cassiopeia's Aspect of The Serpent.

One concern, I have, however, is the Ultimate, Façade. Was there a reason there is no damage value in the spell? Not saying one would be good, though. It would be mostly be like a set-up ultimate to fool the enemy champions for initiating teamfights, or is it kind of like an escape spell?

Please clarify me if I'm wrong on this. Anyways, love this seductive champion! :D

I believe you meant her Guile passive? Yes, I love the idea of her having to earn her power each and every fight. I believe it would prompt a lot of creative plays.

I thought of having some sort of damaging effect upon killing the clone or when Faltine teleported to the clone but I felt like it would make the skill's use too linear. I wanted the ultimate as an opportunity to exploit her passive as well as layer her unpredictability. The result it a mix of Wukong's Decoy and Shaco's Hallucinate. Is that Faltine? Or is this a trap? Should I attack before she motions to make a play?

The idea behind her ultimate Facade (R) was also open up play potential . A lot of her power is packed into her stacking passive. She must remain in combat to keep her stacks.** Her ultimate allows her to roam while maintain her stacks In addition to being able to switch places with her decoy**. She gains a massive shield upon blinking to her clone, attacks against her while shielded give her Guile stacks. Recall that at 13 stacks her ultimate refreshes...and any stack above 13 gives her additional AD/AP. See where I'm going with this? Also recall that if Facade (R) is cast while she has Prestige (E) activated the untargetability/AoE damage/Blind is transferred to her Decoy. Effectively creating a suicide bomb.

While the ability is obviously a very good escape, I think its charm is in the fact that in any one moment you could be fighting the wrong Faltine as well as its ability to teleport her massive distances. For instance imagine a situation where river isn't warded. Faltine is midlane farming againist her lane opponent. Suddenly another Faltine appears botlane to gank. The mid opponent would never ping MIA believe that the Faltine never left lane. Surprise!

Keep in mind the Decoy does not grant vision, nor can its path be changed once its activated. This means that Faltine's time has to invest in vision for her to keep track of her clone or she has to fly in blind!

*I hope I outlined some of the subtle power of this ability. Thanks for your input! *

I love this champion, but the W is way too much like Leblanc's to me. Also, how would the game know if you outwit somebody? Great concept, but needs more clarity. For example, if somebody attacks her clone, would she get stacks? That makes sense, but what if the opponent thinks she ulted, but she didn't and the opponent starts looking around for her. The game has no way of knowing that, so she can't gain stacks that way. My final question is how long does her clone last? Once again, a great concept, I just don't know how this would actually work in the game.

I'm so glad that you enjoyed Faltine. She was my first champion and in many ways is my favorite to date.

W: Farce

Was designed purposely to "mock" Leblanc's distortion. While its movement properties are similiar, the ability gives her an enhanced auto attack to do damage, so she has to take a risk getting close to deal damage regardless of where she jumps. Also her jump range is rather small - close to a Nidalee pounce/ Vayne tumble.

Guile (Passive)

Faltine gains a lot of bonuses by "outwitting" her opponents. This translates gameplay wise to moments that she capitalizes on mistakes/ predicts her opponents. For instance attacking her with a shield or attacking her after she blinded you gives her additional bonuses. In other words if Faltine somehow negates damage done to " her" or attacks a confused opponent. She also has some lines upon gaining stacks of Guile. I'd imagine in game there'd be some sort of visual effect/ tool tip when she hits Guile "Milestones". Opponents could use these effects/ Faltines behavior to figure out what's going on.

For example, if somebody attacks her clone, would she get stacks? That makes sense, but what if the opponent thinks she ulted, but she didn't and the opponent starts looking around for her. The game has no way of knowing that, so she can't gain stacks that way.

This would be an instance similar to attack a Wukong clone or a Leblanc clone. You don't know if your attacking the right person, all you know is you want it dead. For Faltine this can work in her favor - as carelessly attack her at anytime could be the WRONG time. Its part of the mind game that she offers. I tried to detail the clone mechanics but perhaps I did a poor job in relaying them. The idea is that the decoy would be completely uncontrollable after cast - and would follow Faltine's most recent autopath orders. The decoy grants no vision and may be switched with at anytime. So something similar to Shaco's clone.

The decoy lasts 7 /9 / 13 seconds.

Thanks for your input! Let me know if you have any other questions or insights!
