Ink Mage: How I think it could work @Riot Meddler
I love the concept of the Ink Mage. I understand how it can be extremely difficult, Though I feel you can get it right. These Ideas are just that, if Riot Meddler reads this, I hope this gives him some inspiration to return to this champ.
Either designed as a midlaner or support champion, I think it can work amazingly.
Passive: Infinite Ink: The ink mage will leave a trail of ink that lasts X seconds(minutes to OP?). Allies that walk in the ink are offered a heal over time / given a speed boost / Attack speed / AP / AD / Armor / MR(Let the player choose?). The opposite effects the enemy, either a damage over time or a slow.
Q: Skill shot, shoot a ball of ink in a direction, the ink ball leaves a trail of ink in its wake. if the ink hits an enemy, it explodes leaving a circle or a cone(In the same way the titanic hydra spreads damage)
W: Ink Dive: Two ideas of how this could work. 1. On click: After hitting W, click on a patch of ink on the ground to travel to. Upon emerging, ink mage is covered in ink granting a shield or a heal over time. If the Ink mage emerges on an enemy champion, they are knocked up and covered in ink dealing x damage, Slowing them or dealing damage over time after that. 2. After hitting W, the ink mage dives and is untargetable and can travel in the ink he makes on the ground. He gains Movement Speed/and Heal over time and emerges the same way as in 1. (Perhaps too similar to Vlad)
E: Ink Bomb: Throws an ink bomb that leaves ink on the ground dealing X damage and a slow. This would couple well with his Ink Dive(Idea One)
If designers are looking for a support champ, instead of an ink bomb, it is an ink shield. When enemies hit a player with ink shield, they are covered in ink, slowing their attack speed or movement speed.
Ult: With Riot Meddlers Original concept of the player using mouse swipes to deal damage. To fix the problem that would make it difficult for the player to control their character, It would function in the same way that Zed or Yi disappears with their abilities. The ink mage will dive into his ink becoming untargetable, while in the ink world, he can cause waves of ink to appear (the player using the mouse to deal damage)
His ink could be infused with the same magic that items have. Red ink offers AD, AP is blue ink and so on with their respective colors. Which the player can choose when the match starts. (Maybe the same way players choose with Elementalist Lux)
I like the idea of the player being able to pick an ink to use. it can make it more fun for the player to pick a playstyle they like.
