I would assume it's because they don't like the art and had nothing to say but "Don't like" or "Don't want". They aren't douchbags just because they don't like it, and if they don't know why or how to communicate what they don't like about it, there's not much they can do outside of downvoting unless you want a thread full of people saying 'no', 'do not like', or worse comments.

At least people are responding to you somehow, anytime I've uploaded something I've wanted people to look at and got no kind of feedback at all it felt horrible.

The art itself is great, but there are just so many threads about it. Maybe people are a little averse to it being spammed? If it was condensed into one thread it would not only be easier to access and comment on, but it wouldn't take up so much space in the front page.
