Lore

After the success of Blitzcrank, many scientist in Zaun had worked tirelessly to build a better, stronger version of Blitzcrank. A few of them formed a group named "The Leon Pioneer" and began creating a robot that will be mass produced with a purpose for combat and equipped with an ability to self-repair and self-improve. They worked day and night, assembling their creation with the finest materials, setting up the most advanced fighting matrixes, testing each individual part over and over and to ensure a perfect product. They gave the creation a name: Leon I, named to be a representative of the group.

Then the day came for the final test run, all the effort put into this creation had led to this moment. But as the hextech energy was being transferred into the core, it started overheating and before the scientist could react, the core exploded, destroying the lab along with everything and everyone in it. At that moment, Leon started. Thanks to the self-repair matrix, it started gathering parts and tried to fix it's core, but it couldn't be completed.

Leon left the lab and started working in a lot of fields like: mining, cleaning, fighting and contract work in order to make money and buy material from the black market of Zaun to fix its core and other parts that broke while working. Though it has tried many times, the core could not be fixed and the self-repair matrix keeps pushing Leon to the task of finding the material to fix it's core.

Abilities Passive: Hextech energy core prototype

  • Hextech battery: Leon uses [Battery] as resource for his abilities and can have up to 10 [Battery] charges. Leon's abilities have 3 stages. Each stage can only be used when it have a certain amount of [Battery] (except his W). Leon gains 1 [Battery] charge per 6 --> 2s or when Leon is damaged by an enemy's ability.

  • Stage 1: 0 --> 4 [Battery] charges
  • Stage 2: 5 --> 8 [Battery] charges
  • Stage 3: 9 --> 10 [Battery] charges

  • Malfunction:
  • Each time Leon uses an ability, it gain [Heat] up to 100. Each point of [Heat] increase its auto attack damage by 1%. When Leon have a certain amount of [Heat], bonus effect will be applied on his attack and his W will change stage base on his [Heat] level
  • When Leon reaches 100 [Heat], it explodes, deal 10% of its max HP as nonlethal true damage to itself and all unit within 250 units around Leon, also stun itself for 1s. ( Note: [Heat] will increase/decrease over a duration of 4s after an ability is activated )

  • Level 1: 0 --> 49: No effect.
  • Level 2: 50 --> 79: Increase Leon's attack speed by 1% per 1 [Heat] exceed 50
  • Level 3: 80 --> 99: Increase Leon's attack speed by 1% per 1 [Heat] exceed 50 and each attack burn the target for 3s, deal 10(+1% AP) magic damage per second.

[Q]: Long range assault system Cooldown: 5s

  • Stage 1: Launch 5 homing missiles toward nearest enemies, each missiles deal 35 --> 70 (+35% bonus AD) damage. One enemy can be targeted by multiple missiles. Range: 500 Cost: -1 [Battery] ; +10 [Heat]
  • Stage 2: Launch a rocket forward, deal 60 --> 125 (+45% bonus AD) damage to the first enemy hit and 80% damage to enemies around, reduce all enemies hit's armor by 20% for 3s. Range: 700 Radius: 250 Cost: -2 [Battery] ; +20 [Heat]
  • Stage 3: Launch 3 waves of rockets, each wave deal 80 --> 170 (+60% bonus AD) , slow by 25% and ground all enemies hit and reduce all enemies hit's armor by 30% for 3s. Range: 700 Radius: 400 Cost: -3 [Battery] ; +40 [Heat]

[W]: Heat venting system Cooldown: 20s

  • Heat Level 1: Release a cloud of smoke around Leon, dropping [Heat] and reset its auto attack time. Cost: -1 [Battery] ; - 10 [Heat]
  • Heat Level 2: Release a cloud of smoke around Leon, dropping [Heat] and reset its auto attack time. The smoke linger for 3s cause every enemies within the smoke to miss their attack. Radius: 300 Cost: -1 [Battery] ; - 20 [Heat]
  • Heat Level 3: Release a cloud of smoke around Leon, dropping [Heat] and reset its auto attack time. The smoke linger for 6s cause every enemies within the smoke to miss their attack and take 30 --> 100 (+10% AP) magic damage every 0.5s. Radius: 500 Cost: - 1 [Battery] ; -30 [Heat]

[E]: Tactical combat matrix Cooldown: 20 --> 10s

  • Stage 1: Dash forward, deal 30 --> 80 (+25% AD)(+5% max HP) damage to the first enemy champion hit and push that enemy along with all enemy champion Leon collide with while dashing until Leon reach max dash range. Range: 600 Cost: - 1 [Battery] ; + 10 [Heat]
  • Stage 2: Dash forward, deal 50 --> 120 (+30% AD)(+7% max HP) damage to the first enemy champion hit and push that enemy along with all enemy champion Leon collide with while dashing until Leon reach max dash range and snare all of them for 1.25s Range: 750 Cost: -2 [Battery] ; + 20 [Heat]
  • Stage 3: Dash forward, deal 75 --> 160 (+40% AD)(+10 % max HP) damage to the first enemy champion hit and push that enemy along with all enemy champion Leon collide with while dashing until Leon reach max dash range and deal 80 --> 175 (+25% AP) damage every 0.5s to all enemy units around Leon and slow by 35% for 5s. Rang: 750 Cost: - 3 [Battery] ; + 40 [Heat]

[R]: Hextech core ultra matrix

  • Passive - Self repair matrix: Each time Leon cast an ability, Leon recover 5% missing HP per 1 [Battery] used.
  • Active:
    • Stage 1: Reduce damage taken by 10%. Each attack grant 1 [Battery] and 10 [Heat] and Leon will not overheat for 5s. Cost: - 3 [Battery] ; + 40 [Heat]
    • Stage 2: Reduce damage taken by 20%. Each attack grant 1 [Battery] and 10 [Heat], reduce the target's damage by 1% for 3s and Leon will not overheat for 8s. Cost: - 4 [Battery] ; + 50 [Heat]
    • Stage 3: Reduce damage taken by 30%. Each attack grant 1 [Battery] and 10 [Heat], reduce the target's damage by 1% for 3s, increase Leon's Heat cap to 200 and Leon's Battery cap to 20 and Leon will not overheat for 10s. Cost: - 5 [Battery] ; + 60 [Heat] ( Note: When Leon's R wear off, if its [Heat] is 100 or more, it will overheat and explode like normal )

Hey there, review time for you.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4p_P6Tmp0CE

Passive - Just a special resource passive. Is his ultimate the only way to gain more battery power? I'll get back to the on-hit portion of his passive, but the self-destructing part, while kinda neat in a way and hearkens back to his lore, isn't useful. Either he builds enough health to make the damage mean something and lose a lot of it self-destructing, or he deals little damage and gives up a little health for nothing. I understand his heat mechanic appears to be meant to curtail spamming, but the fact that it can damage enemies implies a strategic use to it that isn't there. It would be more sensible if overheating just disabled him in some way.

And also, the idea of a rickety overheating robot is directly stepping on Rumble's toes.

Q - Rocket poke basically. 2nd stage knocks back, 3rd slows. The damage is pretty bad for all stages and the caster-like nature of this ability implies it should be Bonus AD scaling instead of total AD. The way it upgrades isn't good for either Leon or his enemies. Compare this to his W, which just directly improves on its effects with each stage. This ability, however, becomes a radically new skill with each level, and the upgrades aren't even necessarily useful. A short-range champion like Leon doesn't really want to knock enemies back, after all, so the 2nd stage directly contradicts what the entire rest of his kit is trying to do. Given the rest of his kit is short-range, this ability should ideally set up the rest of his plays by weakening enemies somehow.

W - I mostly have no problem with this, except that I think its effects should scale with how much heat he had when he cast it. One major issue I DO have is that the attack timer reset implies it's meant to support his attacking, but it dumps his heat before he can attack, which also resets his bonus damage on-hit. One idea I think might be better for his upper levels - or at least his 3rd - would be if he vented his smoke over time, which would allow the smoke to trail with him similar to Singed's Q. And while it's active, boost his attacks further or something.

E - Charge an enemy and push them along with him. It's actually a fairly interested dash and it gives him some neat things he can do with it via flanking. I actually have no major problems with this ability, it's different enough from Poppy's E to give it a pass and it's interesting on its own. It also gives him two of something he really needs.

R - No. Put his resource recharge on his passive or something. Leon basically has no ultimate thanks to this. I cannot stress strongly enough how bad this is for him.

Last thoughts, he really needs some durability in his kit since he's a close-range fighter. Find a way to implement that self-repair matrix into his kit. Maybe on-cast, since he's kind of a hybrid attacker/caster. I would also suggest dropping the cooldown on his Q or putting it on a charge system. The low effects justifies it, and he REALLY needs a way to quickly build up heat so he can win fights at close range. His W and E aren't useful for that since they're both directly tied into getting a fight started.

Hope this helps!

Please do me a favor and review Ayohn sometime too :)

I am not going into the abilities right now because that design is not my forte, the lore however deserves some praises and one damnation.

The good:

  • good concept
  • decent struggle(goal he fights for)
  • good separation of current characters if implemented well. A character that is really falling apart is not currently used in league.

The bad:

  • grammar, spellcheck and the presence of textblocks I did a quick scan and tried to fix most of the grammatical mistakes in the lore part of the post, the rest of the post should probably also be checked. I also added some spacing.

Sad that there isnt anything in his kit representing the self repair matrix. Interesting concept to be sure :)

From what I gather on the lore, I don't think this is how "Hextech Cores" work at all. I'm more under the impression that Hextech energy is generated by a spinning/vibrating shard of a certain type of magical crystal, not something that is "charged".

Hello, neighbor!

I'd like to know what kind of champion you wanted Leon to be. Looks like an AD diver to me.

General gameplay:

He has way too many things to keep track of; he has 2 resources (Battery & Heat) and he has to keep track of what stage does he currently posesses. Q basically becomes a new spell on stage 2, which becomes a skillshot from the basically around you area of effect ability. You should keep the casting type the same if you want the stages to be different, you could seriously mess up if you aim the Q in the wrong direction because you thought it was on stage 1. The overheat self-destruct portion wouldn't be really fun to play with, it takes a large chunk off your health and also stuns you. To be honest his ultimate doesn't need to have 3 stages, an ultimate should be a reliable source of power, but this ult doesn't offer that. The first stage of the ultimate could be a basic ability, really.

Uniqueness

I'll let Raxi say it for me.

{quoted} the idea of a rickety overheating robot is directly stepping on Rumble's toes.

Thank you.

He kind of plays uniquely because he has to keep track of his heat and his 3 stages, but the stage portion of his passive feels a little too much like Rengar's ferocity or Renekton's fury to me, but you managed to not make it too simular to their resources and make his abilities much more overloaded. 2nd stage Q feels like Sion's E that deals damage in an AoE and doesn't slow, but surprisingly we don't have a dash that grabs all enemies with it. It'd be neat, I have fiddled around a simular concept with Kourok (ever heard? nevermind)

Best luck in the contest! Mind reviewing Genom? You get a good neighbor bonus that can grant you up to 10 points and I can improve my entry. We both win something!
