champion concept (help appreciated)
: how could I have missed this!? I have been all over world and yet there was a rune, on my doorstep! How long have I taken residence in the institute? BAH! whatever...
The mage mumbled to himself as he trod through the Marshes of Kaladoun both frustrated and dumbfounded he had not bothered to search here before for ancient magics.
Deep in the caverns below the Institute of War...
: Ryze.
: What do you need!? I am terribly busy.
The archmages patience was already wearing thin, especially with the slow-speaking -rock- in front of him
: There's something outside.
: And? That's all? Thanks for wasting my time, but I have better things to do than chat idly.
Ryze began to walk away but Malphite raised his voice.
: Magic, powerful magic, outside...
: WHERE!? Tell me!
Ryze was in the very center of the marsh, he'd have taken in the sight if it wasn't such a waste of time.
: I swear if I don't find anything here, I'll never speak to that stone again.
The mage was groggily swearing to himself until he found what he came for, or rather it found him.
suddenly the mud beneath him sprang up and came to life. Ryze reacted accordingly, instantly took a step back and trapped it within a rune prison. The mud then seemed to panic, bouncing alone the ends of the prison panicking. The mage stopped and looked at the blob and wondered what it was that he had caught.
: Just what do we have here? You're definitely alive, the question is... how?
Mud: H-h-hi!
The voice was quiet, definitely frightened and confused as to what had just happened. It then took form. A child, A CHILD of all things. Now Ryze was very interested in what he had found, despite it being a child. Ryze had always hated children, always deciding to find ways to have fun rather than better themselves.
: Oh great, just my luck...
Ryze was already done dealing with the creature. It couldn't even hold itself together properly. Barely able to make out a face under all of the bubbling goop. This small figure had no definite points from which you could tell were human, unable to make out specific fingers, toes, or even its nose for that matter. The only thing standing out that made him seem alive were his eyes, they were a bright blue. Of course, this walking mess had to be a child.
: Transfiguration, by an amateur obviously. Somebody tried to use the rune to do something they shouldn't have.
Taking a knee Ryze gazed at the child.
: what's your name?
Mud: uhhh... I don't know
The child began to tear up. Clearly disturbed by everything that was happening - the blue man using big words and the walls surrounding him.
: No! No! No! None of that now, here, I'll let you out if you promise to behave.
The child nodded and his prison was released.
: Now, tell me, do you have a name?
Mud: I... I think I did... But I don't know anymore.
: Well that won't do, hmm how about a nick-name? Mud! That sounds nice right?
Ryze had read that children who want to become friends call each-other nice names. Hopefully it would make this process go a lot quicker.
Mud: Mud? I like Mud
The child's tears went away and he began to smile understanding that the blue man wasn't so mean.
: Alright, now do you know where you are?
Mud: Um... No I fell in water and I met a grey man, he was loud, and I ran away from the other grey people, and then I fell down here and went to sleep.
Processing this information quickly Ryze was still a little confused, but from what he could tell the boy came from the Serpentine River and managed to escape the undead mage known as Karthus. Impressive. Ryze had not heard of anybody escaping his grasp. The boy had been through a great deal and he could recognize the boys talent. He wanted to see what the boy could do, but not here. He needed to get back to his study. It would be easier there.
: I will help you go back home, but you will need to come back to my home with me. Is that alright?
Ryze noticed a certain kindness in his voice he had not tried using before. It was effective.
Mud: Oh... Uh... Yeah. I can come. Will I get to sleep more?
: Sleep?
The mage was obviously annoyed by the boys request.
Mud: mmhm you woke me up...
Ryze then understood what was going on perfectly. The boy was unstable. And with this unstable form the boy needs to rest, if he doesn't the boy could literally fall apart.
: Alright, when we get to where we're going you can sleep.
Mud: Okay!
The boy was now smiling, sloppily jumping around making grotesque noises. The mage was a little annoyed once more with this waste of energy the boy had so little of. Then the boy held its arm out to the blue man. Ryze looked down, trying to decide if it was worth the time he would save by grabbing the boys hand.
He gave in.
They then began to walk back to where Ryze lived. Ryze began to think to himself of the boys situation. A being that literally needed to calculate its time to continue to exist. If the boy doesn't rest he will die. Ryze began to smirk realizing that they are both the same and yet so very, very different at the same time.
Mud is a champion whose mana does not regenerate naturally. Instead he must rest to regain mana in between combat, making his mana efficiency all that much more important.
Passive: Mud does not regenerate his mana, mana regeneration items instead increase his maximum mana.
Q: Mud shoots a skill-shot in target direction, if it lands on an enemy it reduces their attack speed (X) and increases their cooldowns by 1 second (6 second cooldown), If it lands on an ally it instead gives them a small shield and increases health regeneration significantly so long as the shield is up (8 second cooldown)
W: Mud slaps his target, making enemies more vulnerable (reduces armor/mr) and slows their movement speed by (X) For 4 seconds (7 second cooldown) or by hitting an ally he instead increases their movement speed by (X)
E: Mud latches onto an ally or ward and flings himself into any target direction (8 second cooldown) (Q can be used mid-flight)
R: Mud stops and rests, restoring his mana (after 2 seconds of rest, Mud gains
Obviously I put more thought into the lore aspect of the character and didn't think very deeply about the stats themselves. I just came up with this idea about an hour ago and threw it together. I appreciate any feedback, especially given towards the abilities themselves...
