Lore:
Vincent was just a low time smuggler from the Blue Flame Island city of Bligewater. He had a humble ship and a small crew and would take any job that offered enough money to pay for the next meal while being safe enough to see it. A day came when Vincent was offered a job that would pay for hundreds of meals, Noxians needed a smuggler and he was the only one who happened to be available.
The first part of the job seemed easy enough, he was to help obtain some strange metal out of an island in the Northwest. The island was under close watch by Demacia and the best Summoners on Valoran, but they were aided by a few summoners of their own, including a blacksmith who the Noxian’s were forcing to make a magical item out of the metal.
The second part however was slightly tricky. After the blacksmith had made the armor, they wanted him to die, in a horribly painful manner. They had hired an assassin already, they just needed Vincent to bring her along.
Everything seemingly went according to plan with a few close brushes with Demacian warriors on the way, they obtained the metal and got back to the blacksmiths workshop. After the armor was made, it was heated to the point where it glowed red, and was put on the blacksmith. Not quite dead, Vincent sent a few of his men with the assassin to deliver the blacksmith and the armor all in one to the Noxian’s.
It was not long before Vincent’s men returned, but they were pale white. The assassin too had returned, her skin blue, and the armor with the man who should be dead stood, returned. His voice deeper with an echo of death behind it. He offered Vincent payment for smuggling him back to the islands, an amulet made of the strange metal. The amulet, the former blacksmith told him, would keep him young and alive. And if ever he were to die, the amulet would attempt to bring him back.
After the job was done, Vincent returned to Bilgewater. He found himself healing strangely quick, and realized the amulet did have power which he could harness, but it was powered by the death of others. He quickly decided how to use it.
Eighty years later, Vincent was still young and the cruellest and most feared pirate captain in the world. However he grew tired of life and decided to have a heir to give his wealth and amulet to, before finally moving on from this world. He had a son born to him whom he cruelly named Gangplank. He treated the boy with grit, wanting him to take his place as a cruel captain. When Gangplank turned eighteen, Vincent decided it was time to pass the torch, but just when Vincent was explaining his life story to Gangplank, his own son stabbed him. When he did not die, his son stabbed him again, and again and shot him, and stabbed him again. Death still did not come for Vincent, until quite accidently Gangplank’s sword stabbed through the amulet, and the life left his bones.
He was dumped off the gangplank for a burial at sea, he was sent to the depths. But the amulet simply rested for the time, feeding off the deaths of the fish and the dark slimy sea life, and healed itself. After it was once again complete, it slowly healed it's rotted owner. Coming back to life, but not quite whole. Vincent swore vengeance against his son and swam for the island, now known as the shadow isles, to await a chance to have it.
