What if there is a "mimic" Champion?

When I think of games with big rosters (like league) I always remember this distinct variety of characters in those games.

One of the type of characters I've assumed is in most fighting games when I pick them up, as well as certain pocket monster type genres, is a character that copies others.

Examples: Double from Skullgirls, Mimic from Zoul Caliber, Ditto from Pokemon (nonfighting), etc.

I wonder what it'd be like to have a champion in league that "copies" other champions or has a kit that uses other champion's skills (like double, she doesn't copy her opponent, but most of her (it's?) moves use moves the rest of the cast does in a fixed order.)

Perhaps we could get a champ that copies the passive of whoever they select a mark like kindred? or Gains the abilities of that champion they mark? Perhaps randomly just flat out copies one of the enemies upon death every time? Copies stats?

What do you guys think. Would this be something interesting to see, or something so stupidly broken and unpredictable that it'd ruin or overcomplicate the experience more? I could see an issue if they went the copy any enemy champion theme since you'd have to know how to play that champ. I feel like it could work, but the exact mechanics on how it works or what exactly it does would need to have some kind of standards... additionally I guess it'd be hard to update it to function with future champs properly.

It would be cool, but I think it would be hard to program in with the way the code is now? I like the idea of a champion that could mimic champion appearances. Maybe steal the appearance of an enemy and infiltrate their side, or of a less fed ally to encourage the enemy to pick a fight they can't win? It could be interesting, but probably very frustrating!

Hmm an interesting thought experiment; perhaps their ability keys become whatever the last one hit them? Such as amumu's Q would become the mimic's Q until someone else hit them with a Q ability.

If there was a champ made like this i think it would be an ultimate that would be the copy other abilities somehow. but its cd would depend on if it was a ultimate copied or another ability.

There are no technical issues with implementing this. But the balance issues are absolutely atrocious considered the vast range of skills in the game.

Such a champion will most likely never come to pass. The closest thing will be a "Chaos" mode like in other games where you can create a skillset from any champions skills.

I think a mimic would have the ability to completely copy a champion with their ult while having regular skills for the other 3 abilities.

The reason for that is that it would be a pain to animate every other skill for this champion and really confusing if the abilities of the mimic changed based on the circumstances too much(also the build path of a champ like that would be one big mess)

wasn't there a few champs in dota and dota 2 that could copy or steal spells from other champs?

Well, I would picture either an liquid mass of Void, or an Piltover Mime.

While the void slime would focus on remaining still and allowing it's foes to walk on it in order to steal their moves and ults, the Mime can pull it off without a hitch, and can even mix skills and even ults, like a Ashe-styled Lifeform Disintegration Ray, stopping victims within it's long ranged, or a mix of Flame Chompers and Yordle Snap Traps.

Would probably force teams to ban them if they planned to pick something away from the enemy team, might be pretty overpowered too, like being able to function as a tank during team fights but then swap to an ADC afterwards to push down towers.

I feel like that sort of ability should only be in an ult, like a lower cooldown ult that allows the champion to mimic the last ability it was hit by. The cooldown can be increased by a lot of the ability mimiced is another ult.

Also the ability copied would do half the damage it did when this champ was hit by it. So if morg's Q did 100 damage, this champion would deal 50 maybe?

Tbh I was thinking about something like this and idk why but reading this post just gave me more ideas on it XD

I suggested a similar idea but it got shot down real fast.... but if you can make it work id like to see it :)

I like the idea, but instead of making a whole new champion I feel like that would be a great LeBlanc rework considering that is what she is technically supposed to be/do. She has a history of copying appearances and starting crap lol and it would fit her theme so well
