Radiant Leona

Leona is one of my favorite champions in League of Legends. Sadly she doesnt really have a great skin. (my opinion) The project skin is kinda bland and the barbecue skin is for fun while the rest is simply old or ugly.

Something that sparked the idea for this skin is the permanent glowing effect on Azir and Radiant Wukong. Since Leona's theme is the sun, I always wondered why she didnt have that glow as well? At first I tested some ideas for an ascended Leona, but wasn't happy with the results, so I went for a radiant Leona instead. The themes are chinese lore and tibetan monks and of course had to give it it's own flair when compared to Wukong.

edit It was mentioned a few times now that apparently I missed that Radiant Wukong was part of a package during the lunar revel which celebrates the chinese new year. Sadly an elephant is not part of the chinese zodiac. The chinese zodiac doesnt offer a lot for leona though. Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig

Dragonslayer Panth is already a thing, sadly, so no cool tie in with a potential name there.

Jarvan could maybe fit the role, though a Nameless King skin would fit him a bit better (he shoots lightning for his Q, creates a wall of storm for his R, etc.)

Last I checked, Steel Legion Garen is actually based on the Torchlight games, with some Minor Warhammer Influence.

That being said, I'd love to see Garen with a Chainsword.

It's a really cool skin, but I have to take offense to your diss on her current skins, as I love all of them (but I agree that a high-tier skin would be awesome). How would you make this skin different than her base one, since both are about the Sun (besides the armaments)?

It could be a difference in perspective. Base skin is the light of the sun. This skin would seem more "light of enlightenment."

But how does that translate into a skin? I agree, you could do something like that in the canon of the skin. But there is also the game to look at. Does the "light of enlightenment" look exactly the same as the light of the sun? Is it whispier? Personally, when I think of new Leona skins I want, I really want some cool new particles that change the entire feel of the skin, and so I'm less excited about the variety of skins that simply show "Ascended Leona" or other such things. P.S. This skin concept is really cool, and I'm not trying to insult the artist.

I personally feel like a much brighter light, going from white to yellow instead of the yellow to orange, would fit perfectly

It might fit for this skin, but what I want from a Leona skin is for it to have a primary color other than yellow, as that's literally all her skins. I'd love like an ice Leona, with cool, blue particles. Something to switch up her rather samey color schemes at the moment.

I'd actually imagine her particles to be fire themed and possibly pick up these swirl patterns again. I think that would look pretty neat. The effects could have more saturation and a greater palette of colors to them. Like yellow-orange and red maybe ?

Supernova Leona: Bright Red and Orange Dying Sun Leona: Black and Orange/Yellow Eclipse Leona: Black Moon Leona (seriously, why this isn't a thing already?): Black/Deep Blue + Silver/White Starlight Leona: Blue and Purple with some Silver/White touches.

And that's just using the good ol' space thingies theme.

Well for one, Leona is the embodiment of the Sun. Imagine if she was the Full Blown Out Aspect of the Sun (and it could have Diana and Panth skins of pure epic scale)

Celtic Warrior Leona makes me think of rugged Garen. The shark idea for Tahm is cool, but he already has his Urf skin to make him bright grey, so thats a bit tricky.

I just like the dark/evil themed skins and when I think about it, there arent so many "good" skins out there, are there? Heartseeker and the april fools skins come to my mind. If you count it, there are the warden skins, but those are pretty bland.

As much as I'd love a bunny skin, I'm not sure it would work on leona...so I guess it's tiger or dragon ? Dragon feels somewhat overused, but it would fit the fire theme. Tiger might be fine.

Don't know about anyone else, but I like the original best.

Bear in mind, it doesn't have to tie to the Chinese Zodiac. The elephant motiff is quite fitting for a tank, and it also puts me in mind of the Hindu deity of Ganesha, associated with wisdom, the overcoming of obstacles, and new beginnings.

I for one, thank you for the elephant. It's pretty tiring to see dragon / tiger over and over again in other skins so i'm happy to see something new for a change when it comes to the Zodiac chart.

I like it, but I don't know how this would fit in the chinese new year calendar. Maybe alongside another champ who fits on the calendar, but it would be strange for that champ to have the evil skin... so maybe 2 radiant skins that year?

It seems kinda redundant to me. She is already related to the sun, so adding another skin that borrows from that concept just seems like a waste. I think it would be better if she had a Lunar Wrath skin.

Btw I'm not hating on your art, just its implementation as a real skin for Leona. The art is really good.

I really like it, but I find it a bit too monochrome. I have tried to alter some of the colours for better clarity. I have also made a suggestion for an ult :)

Made her clothes above her waist brighter
Made her clothes below her waist darker (but not the pants as they are already darker)
Made her belt red - fits with the gems on the shield and separates her torso from the rest
Made the pattern on her pants brighter
The ultimate is now a stomping elephant foot, with an elephant trumpet sound
The red is just to separate the foot from the indicator and the skies. This can be altered.

I am very wary when I download things to my computer (Lord, it took me about a month of reading review sites, player comments, viewing the LoL boards, and so forth before I actually downloaded League, longer before I install it). So, could you give me your expert opinion on what things or apps I should download? Thanks!

I use Adobe Photoshop. It's costly though and of course there are alternatives out there that are free. You'd have to google them yourself. For my skin art I go to LolKing's 3D model viewer and take a screenshot of a champ, load it into photoshop and start painting over it. That's basically it. Also I use a wacom Intuos graphic tablet.

That's my recent way of doing these at least. Others simply do a sketch freehand or whatever. It doesnt really matter since the boards are for fan ideas, not for finished skins.

I have a question: are your renders 3d models or paintings that are rendered to look like it's 3d?
Because if it is 3d, would it be possible for you to make them a custom skin? I find all of your skins exceptional and I prefer some of them (almost all) to the ones that we actually have.

They're paintovers I did in Photoshop. Also I am trying to capture the ingame feel/look, which is why they kinda look like 3d models.
