[Champion Concept] Aria: The Resolute Shade.

Hello everyone! I made this champion concept about two years ago, maybe longer. I recently came across it again and decided to revisit it. So I made some revisions, looked things over, ect. It still needs some work I'm sure, but I'm quite proud of my work, and would really like to see what others think of it.

And so, with great pleasure, I present to you Aria, the Resolute Shade. She's my take on how a shadow mage in league might be, and is a utility-heavy mid-laner, though I don't doubt that the kit I've given her would be used for a support as well. Hope you all enjoy the concept as much as I enjoyed creating it!

Note that, since this is all on paper, any numbers can't really be tested. They're more there to show intent, rather than actual functionality.

Also note that I've not yet fixed the base stats to match the changes to them from season 4(Aria's an idea from back in season 3!). And there might be a few out of date numbers.

BASE STATS:

Stat name: Base(+Per level) HP: 375(+75) HP5: 4.5 (+0.55) Mana: 255(+60) MP5: 7.5(+0.6) Attack Damage: 50(+3.2) Attack Speed: 0.638(+2.7%) Armor: 8(+3) Magic Resist: 30 (+0) Movement Speed: 345 Attack Range: 600

Abilities:

Passive - Encroaching Darkness: Dealing damage with Aria’s abilities afflicts her target with Darkness. Each stack of Darkness reduces the vision the target gains from allies(including wards and minions) by 10%, and reduces their personal vision range by 5%, stacking up to 10 times. Darkness lasts for 2 seconds before decaying at a rate of 2 stacks every second.

Q - Shadow Bolt: Linear Pass-through Projectile Range: 1000 Cooldown: 5 / 4.5 / 4 / 3.5 / 3 Mana Cost: 30/40/50/60/70 Aria fires a ball of shadows in target direction, dealing 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 / 180 (+ 0.75 AP) magic damage(reduced by 15% per target hit, down to 40% minimum) to each enemy champion hit, applying a stack of Darkness, and slowing them. If the target has already been afflicted with Darkness, they are snared for 1 second and Darkness refreshes instead of stacking. The snare cannot occur on the same target more than once every 6 seconds.

W - Dark Hunter: Linear Pass-through Projectile Range: 950 Cooldown: 14/13/12/11/10 Mana Cost: 80/95/110/125/140 Aria sends out a mass of shadows in target direction, dealing 75 / 120 / 165 / 210 / 255 (+ 0.7 AP) magic damage to any enemy in it’s path over 3 seconds, applying a stack of Darkness each second and slowing them by 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 / 35% for the duration. Upon traveling half of the ability's range, the shadows attempt to chase the nearest enemy champion, prioritizing champions it has not yet hit. Champions that Dark Hunter hits a second time take an additional 25/30/35/40/45(+0.1) damage and receive another stack of Darkness.

Note: Dark Hunter will ignore champions it has hit twice. If no champions are present, Dark Hunter will continue to travel in a straight line.

E - Dark Seal/Gate of Shadows: Ground-Targeted AoE Range: 600/700/800/900/1000 Radius: 175 Cooldown: 20 seconds Mana Cost: 100 -Dark Seal: Aria places a Seal upon the ground at target location that lasts for five seconds, increasingly slowing enemies within the area by 15/20/25/30/35% - 50/60/70/80/90% and applying a stack of Darkness each second. For 2 seconds after the initial cast, Aria can cast Gate of Shadows.

-Gate of Shadows: Aria places a second Seal upon the ground at target location. After a short delay, all units within either Seal’s boundaries are teleported to the other, regardless of if they are friend or foe.

Note: The slow is based on how long Dark Seal has been on the ground, maxing out at 4.5 seconds, and persists for .5 seconds after leaving the area. The Delay on Gate of Shadows is approximately 1.5 seconds.

R - Nightfall: Ground-Targeted Nuke Cooldown: 130 / 115 / 100 Range: 900 Radius: 200 Mana Cost: 175 After a short delay, Aria ensnares enemies in the target area with chains of darkness, Dealing 150 / 225 / 300 (+ 0.6 AP) Magic Damage, applying 4/7/10 stacks of Darkness, and immobilizing them for 1 / 1.5 / 2 seconds.

LORE: (Second Draft) The Resolute Shade is a being shrouded in mystery, a living creature born from the Shadow Isles and cloaked in its magic. Though perceived by many as a monster, she is a beacon of hope for the future of the once Blessed Isles.

Originally the soulless construct of a necromancer from the Shadow Isles, the early years of the Shade's existence were spent as a mindless, intangible servant; performing mostly menial tasks and only being able to hold a physical form for short periods of time. Each week, however, the Necromancer would excuse his servant from it's usual tasks. During these times he would send it away from the Isles to collect a new subject for his cruel experiments, and each week the Shade would return with a freshly-made corpse.

It was these trips to the living world which led to the Shade first gaining consciousness, for on each trip away from it's master the shade would absorb small amounts of residual energy from the souls of humanity. The energy slowly built up over time, unnoticed, and eventually allowed the shade to form a soul of her own. Eventually, the Shade began to question its actions: why did she follow the necromancer’s gruesome commands? Because he created it, of course. But why did he create her? The shade had no answer.

The cycle repeated itself. The shade would assist the necromancer’s experiments, and once a week it would leave to obtain a new specimen. And although her task was repetitive and unchanging, the shade began to realize that it's attitude towards said task was not. It slowly dawned on the shade that she could no longer dismiss the killings her master ordered upon her as trivial. The shade realized that it... ached; A strange, incomprehensible feeling that she had only just begun to notice. In her frustration, the shade found herself asking the same questions as before: “why do I kill for him?” The answer, as always, was obvious and unchanging, he was her master. This answer remained as satisfactory as before, but the Shade found itself hesitating to accept it.

Her entire world changed, however, when she was sent to retrieve a child. Things proceeded smoothly at first, she sneaked up on her mark to make the kill while no others were around to see. The child, however, turned before the Shade could do her work. Both froze in place, but instead of screaming about the scary monster in front of her, the little girl smiled, and asked in her broken language if the Shade had come to play with her. Confused, the Shade allowed the child to lead her around, and soon found that she enjoyed the games they played together. But at the end of the day, the Shade knew that she had to follow the orders her master had given her, and she slew the child.

A strange sorrow invaded the shade’s being as she returned with her mark, and as she handed the corpse to her master, she finally realized what it was: guilt. In that instant of clarity the Shade's heartbreak transformed into rage and she turned on the necromancer. Their battle was fierce. Although the Shade knew that she would not survive the death of her creator, she fought as though for life itself and, finally, slew the wicked man by turning his own vile magics against him. In the aftermath, a new being was born from the determination of the dying Shade, the necromancer’s twisted magic, and the blessed memory of the slain child’s innocence. This being named itself Aria, in memory of the child that had been slain, and set out to find a new life away from the twisted land of the Shadow Isles. _ “I have gained life, I have claimed free will, and I refuse to give up either one!” -- Aria_

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE: (1st Draft) http://i.imgur.com/V1aZbkK.jpg - My thanks to AnActualDuck for drawing Aria. She's missing her smile but it's still very good!

When one first sees Aria, they see a young, teenage girl in long, cloth pants and a hooded, cloth jacket, the arms of which become gradually brighter in shade as the sleeves approach their ends, extending just past her knuckles. Beneath the jacket’s hood, the shadows it casts hide almost all of Aria’s face save for her glowing eyes and her broad, unnerving smile.

I love the darkvision effect on the passive also, love the urgot Yorick (yorick) qoutes but I dont think that cassiopia (yorick) will get the qoutes because taric (yorick) is getting a rework after shen (taric is after shen, then hopefully yorick)
