Will there be a hide and seek gamemode?

So this has been suggested before and I'd like to bring it up again, mainly because it was by far one of the most enjoyable custom modes I've ever played. For the uninitiated, Hide and Seek, or H&S, was a 2v5 mode of two seekers and five hiders. The hiders would try to hide and wouldn't be able to fight back except with CC abilities, and the seekers would obviously try to kill the hiders. The win condition for the seekers was to kill each hider 5 times, and for the hiders, it was to survive a set amount of time (usually 40 min). H&S got effectively removed with Dominion since it doesn't really work well on any other map.

I've compiled a list of a couple reasons, aside from the preexisting fanbase, why I believe H&S would make an excellent choice for a RGM.

Unique Gameplay The more successful RGMs usually offer radically different playstyles and atmospheres; after all, they're supposed to be unique and distinct from what we normally play. H&S provides this both in the fast-paced gameplay when seekers are actively chasing hiders, as well as the stealth-oriented periods when hiders were avoiding seekers, and seekers were combing the map for them.

Eliminate Trolling Trolling was one of the biggest problems in custom H&S. Hiders, usually after losing their lives, would attack seekers and build damage, ruining the game for everyone. This is preventable by simply making seekers invulnerable to damage. CC and utility abilities would still have their effects. Another perk of this is that it eliminates situations in which hiders "chase" a seeker to spam high damage CC spells, forcing them to back while technically not breaking the rules.

Customization If H&S were an RGM, Riot would have the opportunity to introduce custom items for hiders and seekers to help them, maybe add unique features in the terrain, and also eliminate cheese strats like hiding in one of the alcoves beside the bases. It would also allow them to introduce things like limits for hider stats (to prevent them from going full tank), and possible buffs for seekers. Certain champions like Teemo and Evelynn could also be changed to make them more balanced.

However, there is also an issue, and that is the unbalanced team size. Swapping teams is not an option like for Nexus Siege, because there are more hiders than seekers, and also because it would take 80 minutes. Leaving it as is might end up with people leaving when they don't get there preferred role, which happened all the time before. The only solution I can think of is just to adopt the custom game system rather than having matchmaking; this way, when people leave, at least you don't have to wait for another champ select.

Any suggestions/thoughts are welcome.

It would be pretty cool! From what I recall, part of the reason dominion is no longer selectable is due to Riot increasing dev time on champions/reworks/items/etc. to make sure they don't break map-by-map. For example, Tahm Kench could get outside the boundaries of Crystal Scar due to a loophole in the area.

Personally, I'd rather them add it as a RGM so we can get more varied games.

Pretty cool but 2 rounds of 15 min would be funnier

Warwick would get permabanned

Ever try hide and seek during the time URF was available? Man that made hide and seek a wild game.

I did enjoy playing hide and seek when crystal scar was around, so I would love to see it make a return during the rotating game mode.

Also it is worth noting that certain rules being removed could allow for a much more enjoyable experience, for instance, not forcing a seeker to back because of CC damage.

I wish I could upvote this more than once... I loved hide and seek.

Could it be balanced for 5v5 instead with buffs?

For example, hiders could become invisible after staying still for a few seconds (or maybe activating an item, which has a long cooldown), and upon being hidden, either become unable to move, or gets heavily slowed. Seekers will get a notification when they are near an invisible hider (similar to old Rengar ultimate), which then they could use their AoE/skillshots to try to find the hiders.

With some creative buff effects, I think Hide and Seek can be played as a 5v5, and not necessarily as 2v5. And if they really don't want to bring back dominion, maybe at least we'll get a modified SR.

man i remember playing hide and seek on Bnet, starcraft player game. lil zergling would have to seek out 6 something zealots in this tight shadowy map mixed with trees and confused passages, even with a hidden room. was so much fun.

Think league could branch out into those old school games like capture the flag and hide and seek.

It would be a awesome addition to the rotating gamemodes queue!

My suggestion for the problem of people leaving would be that it is only one seeker and every hider only get one life. Then it could rotate so everyone gets to seek. Of course the time that the hiders need to wait until they win will not be as long and only about 10 min. Then it would be max an hours long game if every seeker loses.

Maybe it is too long of a game or it is too hard to win as a seeker 1 vs 5 so it could also be 1 vs 4 or 1 vs 3. That is my thoughts on the subject and I would love to see this gamemode come to league. Especially if you'ld get to choose a new champ after every round!

i loved hide and seek. even though i only played it a little bit with 2 friends (only a couple hours one night)

the reason one of my friends and i stopped playing it is because we got way too many trolls that would cap a tower/try to kill us/pick a champ that wasn't allowed in almost every game, and it just got way too frustrating. if it was made into an official RGM then Riot could custom make it so that seekers couldn't die, and minions wouldn't spawn. i'd probably actually play it pretty often, since the games that didn't have trolls in it were quite fun. i was pretty decent on both sides (hider and seeker) so i wouldn't mind getting either one.

I hope Riot implements this!

Cool, but if you want to play hide and seek, go Evelynn.

i played this mode a lot, and i can say, while it would be better than repeating the same modes over and over, it would not be one of my personal favorte modes

Drop the number of hiders down to 4, have 15 minutes of seeking with a point system rather than lives and play 3 rounds. Seekers who get the most points win.

I remember the trolliest thing I ever did in hide and seek. I would go Ahri, and just run from the seekers at all times, reason being the longer her Q is away from her, the longer she gets a movement speed buff, so throwing it at them and running the other way was allowed; just really fucking annoying.
