Tutorial Changes Brainstorm

I was just laying in bed and couldn’t sleep so I was reading articles and came across one about how the tutorial system was terrible for League and I agreed and that was that, then I kind of thought about it and I don’t think it would take much effort to actually fix the system if Riot just added videos on every concept and had an entire tutorial area where you can play out various scenarios and learn general concepts. So this is all I could think of as dad as that goes, I’m sure there’s more but I just kept going till I couldn’t think of something within a minute and a half. I figure maybe if I put it out it’ll start a convo about it and maybe it happens, lol

We have in depth champ info with champion spotlights, almost like extrapolating that onto every other game concept Kiting Csing Stat Explanations Towers and Plate info Dragon and Dragon buff info General buff explanations (blue, red, baron, maybe even a separate one for the Vilemaw buff too, plus the altar thing) The power of Rift Herald while plates are still up Champion types and general laning ideas (I understand Riot doesn’t want to take a definitive stance on encouraging any explicit way of playing the game, but that doesn’t mean they can’t just leave it open ended and essentially just say this is the commonality) Maybe even have a funny thing about breaking the meta Item Information Build paths Have an advanced tutorial for macro info, like pathing for the jungle, lane priority, keeping an eye on your minimap, encourage everybody to check it often. What inhibitors do exactly, just how powerful super minions really are (something like “they do 8x the damage of a melee minion!”) Go into lane matchups, the general goals in each one, literally, every matchup possible. Just make it a long term project or something, as an extension, go into bot lane combos that work well versus poorly (also general bot lane triad of supports, those being poke beats all-in/kill beats sustain beats poke) Back times, encourage people not to open their shop unless they’re completely safe. Being as quick as possible in the shop, making item sets to improve efficiency Runesets and Info (just how they’ll help you ingame, encourage more thought in runes with items) Bush info, just how vision works Warding and why you should do it, also the sheer breadth of power a red ward gives you in Bronze elo, go deeper on explanations for jungle and supp, where you want to be warding to see the enemy jungler, but don’t encourage any one specific person to be the only one getting vision, encourage trinket upgrades to not be all the same, but that sweeper is great against traps, teemo and shaco and shit. How to push a wave and freeze Fast casting versus normal casting Summoner Spells and info Level info, like champ gains per level, include this further in-depth info on an easily accessible in client system for champions, no real need for this kind of thing to be left ambiguous anyway as I see it Be able to easily see full stats on a specific champ with a build path in your item sets to just be able to quickly see which build makes your stats more appealing (not ingame) Locked screen versus unlocked, how unlocked is objectively better but if it’s difficult to manage start with locked until comfortable Pings and the importance on awareness of them Mute all chat or any person if people are bullying or flaming, encourage breaks if you’re getting tilted. Mental state Maybe even have one where you say if you’re addicted to the game that’s fine just make sure you eat something and shower The history of League or some shit, maybe an item hall of fame for the retired items as a joke Maybe open up the champ design process a bit more and start releasing info more in advance Encourage more pbe access for a larger data query Explanation of the pbe and more easily accessible info for what’s on it in client, have a disclaimer that none of it is 100% so they can’t get upset, this would allow people to be on top of the patch moreso Stealth, Camouflage versus Invisibility Explanations of all types of cc, what they allow you to do or don’t do, how long abilities last, how to counter cc Sidestepping abilities Untargetability, executions, reload systems, any additional game mechanic

We definitely need a convo about the tutorial

I've been trying to recruit my friends to play and it's so hard when the current tutorial doesn't explain a lot of basic mechanics and strategy

It's hard to keep new people motivated when the game can feel overwhelming and confusing
