Color customization to replace chroma

Would be nice if riot developed a unit painter loadout menu to replace chromas. They could keep the rp cost on things by having people pay for color unlocks to use in the painter. I was thinking something like the DoW games multiplayer army painter. Where you pick a color and it paints a grouped region that color. Example would be sepect red apply red to base armor. Now all base armor is red while armor secondary features, weapons, etc are unaffected.

Current chroma unlocks could go towards unlocking new colors for painter. They could have various color quality for varying rp prices. Example base green 30 rp but metalic neon green for 300 rp. They could also work these into chests easily and have limited time colors or effects.

This just seems like a more creative and meaningful skin alteration to current chroma idea. I love bubblegum Zac but I can't help but want more. (Oil slick zac coloration would be awesome.)
