Yep, what better replacement for a god-like, supernatural power-looking object to carry around with you than that portable green lantern recharger.

that would also make it easy to explain how the tentacles get there, they're being made with green lantern power and can retain their greenish hue. I realize that the recharger doesn't exactly work like that in the dc universe, but hey when you gotta carry around a super power like illaoi does, the green lantern thing fits imo.

edit: actually, doesn't even have to be green, could be a different lantern color.
