Why not adding lighting and weather in League of Legends?

because the game environment is meant to not distract you from the champions and their abilities and also it's meant to run on pretty much all toasters

It looks awesome, but I think different weathers would only be distracting in League. I could do with a sunrise at the start of the game, though. Your first two concepts look beautiful (river reflection is too vibrant imo).

I think the reason why such thing doesn't exist already is because of the concept that Fog of War needs to exist and that wouldn't work if there were Sun rays around some parts of the map.

But outside of that, I would love this sort of addition to the game.

Fun Fact: there is very faint rain in the jungle just to the right of Midlane top side's outermost tower. Just in the cross between mid/Jungle/River, behind blue buff.

On Topic: This would create too much visual clutter, adding to the existing clutter, and most players would turn it off. It could also be a performance issue, since I recall a Riot post (Likely a Dev Diary/Ask Riot) saying they try to stay within a certain limit of Memory Usage when making new content.

It'll slow down preformance and league has had a declining framerate for awhile already (I remember have almost 300 FPS, now its like 100 and every streamer I watch seems to experience the same.), not to mention effects like the lightning can have visual problems (lightning themed skins, kenne, etc will be harder to telegraph during a storm.)

Honestly i love the thought of it, but i agree with (Whoever said it first) that it should be something you can enable or disable in the settings, but otherwise i think itd be cool [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Chances are it would not be able to run on crappy laptops/PCs. I would really like if they made this an option in the settings though if you have a beefy enough computer. Sounds like a great idea :D

That's a pretty cool idea. We've had a few cosmetic changes to the Rift periodically. Maybe they could implement this? Who knows.

Would have to:

Be optional
Contain very very small or no animations

But hey as someone who came from dota who did these weather effects I can say the ones in there were gorgeous so they can definitely be done right

if it did not effect anything and you could disable it then hell yea.it would feel way more like the rift was a place and not just a stage.

not to mention all the talon mains would come out and only roam when the rein falls.

Because people in LCS can't play on different summoners rift map. Every LCS they MUST have normal map or they are losing their mind.
