Lore: "He took me in, during a blizzard, he took me in. He said I had a powerful gift that only those of ancient times, had. He said I was an Iceborn, well a descendant of one, and he said we were kin by magical blood. The Watchguard said that I would be safe in this fort. Then he told me his name... Rün" - Diary of Avernus, log 417
"I don't know where to begin, where the story begins mind you, uh... right. I remember in my early childhood, I lived under Noxian control, and I remember that for some reason, I had a high bounty on my head. Never knew why the mages of Noxus wanted me. In truth I didn't about anything outside my village's legends, until my village was liberated by Demacians, and well, I went to a library. I met a few scholars who told me to find the Institute of War, which at the time I did not know would now host me as a 'Champion', though I did meet a wizard name Ryze. I was told to head north and find a woman named Ashe, and she was to guide me to something near the northern end of the continent.
I was packed for everything I needed, well relatively didn't expect a freaking blizzard to essentially make me almost freeze to death, but I do digress. So the next thing I know, I'm cold, alone and well... lost. Then I got lucky the first time, and met up with a 'Cryophoenix', which I'm sure is like a phoenix, but frozen? Sorry, sorry, yea I know pay attention, keep on track, and I will try to stop cooling the room down below freezing. So, back to Ashe, she took me as far north as possible, and guided me northeast, where I would hike for a good week or so. Err, okay what happened next, or right. So next thing I'm doing is trudging through a blizzard, and I could lights in the distance. So after an hour or so of being in that condition, I just gave up and deciding to camp to stay warm; well I forgot to bring some firewood or heating spells or something like that. I had no fire okay; so it seemed that I would freeze to death, but after a while of being huddled in a corner, trying to stay warm. I realized I had stopped shivering, and knowing sort of what that meant, I was figuring; I'm dead and cold and well alone. I made my final entry, 416, and well; slept. Until I heard the sound of someone in metal armor, or something metal, clanking through the ice and snow, and I saw that light again. It appeared to be a sword of sorts, and well. Truth be told, I was scared witless, until the thing approached me and said, and I quote, "Well, you seem lost mage; you want to head to a blizzard resistant fort?" So I looked at him for a bit, and for an hour or so, the blizzard stopped, and the sun came out and I could see the face of this person. it was a dog person of sorts... you know Rün? Well, that was the guy who took me and taught me how to control ice magic, and my ice blood fury. So I guess that's all I have to say, thank you for listening, and I guess I'm ready to preform my evaluation." - Avernus's interview with the current High Councilor of the Institute of War
