Cho'gath visual update concept (looking for feedback)

Ok, now to what i'm working on now

so recently i decided to try and make a new one since cho'gath is one of my all time favorite champs and he DESPERATELY needs one

I got some feedback from my friends and ended up combing two of them to get 6

now i wanna look to you guys to give me some feedback before I continue any further\

edit: Thanks for the first day of feedback. I'll try to update with a few more sketches as soon as I can

Personally, Cho'gath is the perfect killing machine, deadly and smart. I can see him looking like a straight up monster and at first glance that's what you should think, but as well leave the intelligence to how he talks and acts. These are good drawings/sketches, but I feel like Cho'gath should have a unique body shape.

Not to say your's are not good but, allow me to tell you what I think.

He should have an impact just by looking at him. Tall, intimidating, refined, and above all else incomparable. Refine seems like an odd word to throw in there but Cho'gath has this sort of body type that makes him stick out. On live it sure does make him stick out but without all the other qualities I wish he had.

Out of all of them, I prefer #6. It has the sort of hits all the things I wish he had.

Theis concepts look cool but he looks a bit skinny to be a Tank. Maybe try making him a bit fatter ( not Gragas though) or have bigger "feet". He is massive and beefy so he probably look heavy. Silhouette nombers 3 & 6 as well as sketch 2 or 4 represent that best.

Other then that, great job. :D

I think the crustacean styled body works good for him and makes his frame more square-like (which makes for a better unit/hit-box IMO).
Of your concepts, I prefer #2. The head remains a good size, perhaps with an increased jawline for that Cho'gathian gape. And also fits the thematics of Kha'zix/Rek'sai well.

Overall, pretty good interpretation.

Combination of #1 and -2 (silhouettes)

I'm hoping that his model will change as he gains feast stacks or learns abilities (like gaining spiked when he learns void spike), so he doesn't just get bigger, he actually grows and changes a little the more he feasts

These ideas are all great. Cho cho was the first champ I ever got in to, and he's still one of my favorites. He needs a rework. I think if sketches 1 and 4 were combined with silhouete 6, it'd look like what I imagine Cho'gath looking like in real life (let's just say Godzilla would die of fright). Anyway, great work on these.

I like the emphasis on the teeth, it may sound repetitive but- more dinosaur, less bug. I love all the void champs (cept Kha'Zhik, only because I haven't played him).

That said, perhaps the tail could be a bit more prevalent? I feel like it would add a sense of realism for his tail to actually trail on the ground behind him instead of hovering in the air.

Old or not, the original drawing looks great. What got me was how Cho'Gath's head looks ... well, it doesn't look terrifying or badass. I was even having issues trying to figure out how it would be worse chomping down on you than Volibear or another big predator.

As for feedback, I like your first drawing. It keeps the Cho'Gath feel without making him into a Rek'Sai (6) or a bulkier Kha'Zix (5). Number 2 looks like a tailless Xenomorph Queen. I think a good direction to look into would be to make Cho'Gath more like a Void T-Rex, with that upright stance wherein the tail and head balance each other on top of the legs. I mean, gotta have big strong legs to get his Q off.

These are both in game model concept arts. I really like the second one, but just wish it was in his original colors.

I think this is a great concept but to make it even more diverse, I think every time Cho'Gath gets a stack he should grow and "change," similar to thow the monsters in the game Evolve basically evolve. By using the evolving mechanic we are able to give him a nonstatic model, and a rewarding badass look with every buff. You could even make each ability get slightly stronger with each evolve, we could make him stronger, look more badass, and make him more rewarding without a major buff at all.

Wow, this is way better than what I expected. (even though I can't help but feel the resemblance with the pokemon black2/white2 series. x) )!

Here's my feedback. Hoping it'll be useful:

  1. I'd like to see some functionality in his scythes and his current "dual horn/claw" upper limbs. Perhaps his scythes could be part of a folded wing set?
  2. Except for Vel' Koz, void residents have animalistic bases. I feel his base animal is a lobster or a peacock mantis shrimp, so maybe he could use some of their anatomy? (even though I don't like the idea that much)

He looks a little to Draconic, which is a strange way to put it. he looks big and bad and like he'll tear through several armies, but looking at him it's hard to say that he looks intelligent, he is simply too well armored, to brutish. While I like it for the most part I'd like to see a version with the armor on his back and chest toned down so he has more distinguished shoulders. For the head a mouth shape and head angle like sketch 4 but a crest more like 1 or 3 is something I'd like to see, 4 looks a little "noble" while 1 and 3 simply don't have the right amount of real estate being taken by teeth. A final word about the head, (probably more important than the rest) the eyes need to be more forward than the way they are in the colored picture, I feel sketch 3 is the best in regards to eye position. Alll in all very nice artwork.

Honestly cho simply needs to resemble his splash art a little more. The new art is amazing, it just doesn't match the in game version which is why I like to use loch ness cho skin.
