Trading Skins!

KindredPhoenix·5/31/2017, 9:29:09 PM·23 votes·18,826 views

So we all know that you can gift somebody a skin or champion from the shops. But new feature that would be ver fun and useful is the ability to trade skins you already own. Now let me be clear is will ONLY be for skins. not Champions. And it will help a lot when you get a skin in crates or you buy a skin you no longer want and a friend has a skin you want. You can trade the two skins! I don't know exactly how it's going to work but I expect it'll be between friends and something like the gifting system we already have in League. It's a way for people to get the skins they want by trading ones they already have for it.

Edit: Another thought to consider. Only club members can trade skins with members of the same club. Maybe for a discount or RP it would cost more to trade with people who arent in the same club. Just another idea.

Personally I'm against this, only because Riot makes a lot of their money off cosmetics. If we have a way to give each other skins we don't want, a skin-trading market will appear and, since you can then effectively trade loot boxes for skins you want (or trade old skins for champions you don't play much any more) it REALLY cuts down on Riot's ability to sell cosmetic items.

For that reason I doubt we'll ever see it, unless you can find a way to avoid the churn-over of old skins for new skins, or the ability to change hextech crafting skins for whatever content you actually wanted.

It's just the unfortunate truth of businesses. Money IS important, and something that cuts this heavily into the bottom line can't really be launched.

Wont happen. Would create a blackmarket where skins are sold for less than riot sells them. Would make botting more lucrative through skinsshards possible getting a real life money value. Would hurt/ruin riot.

I do agree with the idea of trading skins but why make it cost RP that is a waist of money i think trading skins should be free because it's just a skin that you already bought why have to waist more RP when you have already bought that item it makes no sense, I would like a trading system where you just trade skins and not pay anything, I disagree with you having to own said champion as well because hextech crafting enables you to get skins for champion you don't have so why make trading them any different, In other words please don't make this game a pay to earn type game

Edit: And I do understand that riot makes there money on the RP and skins but trading skins to someone who doesn't have that said hero would still give profit to Riot even if they have it anyway Thats why I was also thinking about a thing where you can sell your skins if you don't want them and get your RP back so you can buy another champion or skin

I wish riot would make a trading market, so when people want to trade their skins, they can chose which skins they would prefere.Quid pro quo, amout of rp for the same amount. OFC charge free. I think that is meaningless to do it between teams only... Create a page within LoL main page, so people can access their skins accounts and trade freely with other players.... I myself have few skins for champs i will never play, so what use are the skins to me if i cant trade them with people that would like to have them...

No. If I was a business I wouldn't do this. it will decrease sells. Fuck that. If they don't, I completely understand why they wouldn't.

Nami Imma close up this necro. The post and many comments are quite old. If someone wishes to discuss this particular idea, please create a new thread and continue conversations there.

I think that this should be done with a small add on - Trading skins costs RP.

When you go to trade a skin it costs 3/4 of the skins price that must be paid by either side or both of them putting money together. This way we can get rid of old skins, Riot can make money of skin trading, and I can put a third thing here to round out my argument.

Thats my opinion.

It would have been cool if you could sell rare icons and skins which is no longer in the store, with some taxes for greedy Riot ofc XD

EXYY7/29/2018, 12:24:56 PM1 votes

I agree with this. I couldn't see it do anything but help League of Legends itself. It won't really negatively affect it in any way, not even economically, as it could inspire people to work more on their skin sets (i.e buying new skins to trade for those unavailable in the store, etc). It would just generally make the community more active within Skins in general. Can't see many downsides here.

Edit: For example, I just rolled the Star Guardian Ezreal skin worth 1350RP. It's great to have, since it's worth a bit, but this is a skin I will never even consider to use. Mainly because I don't play the champion, but I just don't like the skin. However, I have a friend that actually mains Ezreal and would probably love this skin, and now the only way for me is to trade my account, which is not allowed. Trading already exists, but it's being shadowed. People literally sell accounts because there is no way to trade skins officially. Why not just implement this properly? It's already being done by so many others.

Does anyone want to trade Ssg Rakan against Godstaff Jax ?

If yes, letzten me know and we can trade.

Everyone complaining that riot wants to make money off skins on a FREE TO PLAY GAME. Guys!!! Riot has to make money somewhere or they wouldn't be able to do as many updates, skins, new champs, balancing, bug fixes, everything you guys want them to do they wouldn't be able to if we didn't support them through OPTIONAL CONTENT. Also a trading system like this would just be abused by others and ruined for everyone else. There are so many problems that could come of this.

Forklift Waifu11/8/2018, 9:03:19 PM1 votes

Riot could also set an limit on what types of skins you can trade. For example, perhaps excluding 1820 skins an above, to ensure those skins they worked hardest on are giving a decent payout.

Furthermore, it is possible that riot could tag skins received through mystery boxes with a piece of code which allows only them to be traded, and the skins you buy using RP directly are not tradable. I think this would actually make people more willing to spend money on mystery boxes. If they get a really good skin that they don't need, it still has value because it can be traded.

It's not a one size fits all with systems like this, nuances can always be added.

Cain Marko8/11/2018, 12:02:26 AM

I hate how Riot is most likely not going to implement a trade system, because it's like what they did with custom skins. If they don't make money off of it, then no deal. [zombie-brand-facepalm]
