Champion Concept: Daranki, the Dark Paladin
Greetings. I decided to throw this concept up on the boards and see what you guys think. Feel free to drop any questions or criticisms you have by.
Daranki, the Dark Paladin
Daranki is a tanky DPS top laner that can deal as much damage as he can take. His passive, True Enlightenment, makes him inherently tanky. Initiating with Shadow Strike, Duranki can whittle down opponent’s health with basic attacks and the DOT of Black Flames. He can easily pursue an elusive enemy with Corrupting Essence and the vision restriction from Void the Light makes him a deadly ally to have in team fights.

Lore:
Long ago, there was an ancient society of people who believed that Darkness was the only path to true enlightenment. These people called themselves Nicushacahme, but were known as “The Enlightened.” The people that followed this path trained in dark magics and followed physical practices that pushed the limits of mental and physical durability to the point where some have transcended the realm of humanity. Most of Valoran considered these practices to be wicked and taboo, but because the Nicushacahme held themselves as humble members of society, Valoran left them alone. For centuries, the Nicushacahme and the Valorans maintained an unsaid peace, until the Demacian College of Magic launched a campaign forbidding any magic practices that they deemed unworthy. The Path of Darkness was the primary target of this campaign. The Nicushacame sent many delegates to the major cities of the land, begging for support to help with this injustice. Their plea for help fell on deaf ears as their very way of life was outlawed. The prejudices of the Valorans showed in full force as the first of the Nicushacame were arrested. As the Nicushacame began to resist, the tactics of silencing them became more and more violent until it turned into blood sport. They were being hunted. With nowhere to turn, the Nicushacame faded from existence; hid themselves from the world that shunned them purely for their beliefs.
Daranki is from one of the few remaining Nicushacame tribes in existence. He lived with what was left of his society in a desolate area deep in the Ironspike Mountains. From a young age, Daranki was destined for great things. When he was born, the clan Shaman dubbed him a warrior. He was trained in the art of combat as soon as he could hold a blade. He advanced through the ranks of his society faster than anyone had ever seen. When he was only blossoming into his younger years, he became a full-fledged warrior and was given his first command. After several short years, he had gained the highest honor of Master Paladin and was given a weapon passed down from his ancestors; a large halberd, forged in the black flames by the most powerful dark mages. When he took hold of it for the first time, something miraculous happened: he was shown a vision of the past. He saw the suffering of his people flash before his eyes. He saw images of his people being hunted down and slaughtered at the sound of laughter and jeers. A rage grew inside him, unlike anything he had ever felt before. He realized that it was his destiny to free his people from the torment of staying hidden from the world. So Daranki donned his armor, took up his halberd, and left his home for the first time. For centuries, Valoran had believed his people to have been erased by history. Daranki made them remember. Everywhere he went, he put on display the power that his people were once feared for. It was clear to all that if he wished it, he could easily slaughter thousands. But instead, after his display Daranki laid down his weapon, and surrendered peacefully. He told all who would listen of the plight his people had suffered, and how they suffered still. Recognized and admired by those who heard him, Daranki now turns his gaze to the architects of his torment; The College of Magic.
“They feared us because they did not understand. Now, I will make them understand.” -Daranki
