Supporategist

The name of the "Support" role changed to "Strategist" and given slightly different pings.

  1. Few players like support and one of the likely reasons is lack of appreciation and respect.

  2. One of the most frustrating aspects of the game isn't losing, but losing in a way that feels unavoidable. Even a bad call that ends the game is better than 5 players all wandering around waiting to lose or fighting over the correct call.

  3. The support is responsible for vision and team cohesion and is generally less mechanically intensive. Who better to shot call?

Any feedback is appreciated.

People don't like to play support? That's not true. Some supports just need more damage, but being a support can be really fun. Each support is played uniquely, and some can even become powerful over the course of the game. Some supports need a buff in my opinion, such as Soraka, with her Q and E.

  1. I believe it's unpopular because you don't get to kill things (players or monsters).

  2. The entire team is responsible for vision (this oversight is why lots of games are lost). And, except for cs, how is supp any less mechanically intensive?

The key word here is 'vision'. Riot should be giving supports more vision tools in their kits, to take the pressure off of needing SightStone and give teams a reason to want a support champion instead of another mage.

I also think the vision game itself needs a lot of work, but has a ton of potential. For the 'supporategist' it would be playing a very different sort of game as you work on gathering info, remaining stealthy, and anticipating your opponent's movements.
