WWII Azir Skin

I main Azir , with 300+ games this season. A fairly new champion to match a fairly new player, his 2 skin choices are insanely limited. Azir is an emporer and deserves more choices! So, why not create a sort of Pulsefire Ezreal package for Azir?

WITH HIS VERY OWN WWII SKIN PACKAGE! German or American Officer themed, this package can include new voice overs, animations, a new Sun Disc, and best of all-- uniforms for the soldiers, to look like enlisted men from WWII! It would be a great fit for him!

Maybe not a Legendary skin, but it would be nice. Maybe a 975 or 1350 skin. +1

Maybe a Patton model for USA and a Himmler model for Germany?

No Zac has 1 skin soon to be 2, also that's not fair to every other country that had an impact in WW2 they should be included and would take to much time.

Well Rito is an American company. Americans will normally connect with and care about American soldiers, as they from our own culture and history. In many British arts, often times the focus is on England and Germany, as the English will mostly connect with and care about other English.

Riot has worldwide players. Limiting themselves to an Inconsiderate american standpoint is shortsighted.

It would be a poor business decision, no question about that. But I don't think it would be disrespectful, it would just be unwise. Especially considering that they are trying to expand in Europe.

Well, Rito also has an Uncle Ryze skin; the play off Uncle Sam is uniquely American. There would be nothing wrong with another American themed skin, so long as Rito is tactful about it's portrayal of the war. Don't overdo the heroics, but fashion it in a way that pays tribute

American military would be fine. But it is unlikely that it would be WWII era. Most likely Revolutionary War era skins.

It wouldnt be inconsiderate. There is no possible way to incorporate every nation. Uncle Ryze is uniquely American, and nobody seems to complain about it. What Rito would be doing is simply expressing the American view, not decidedly neglecting any of the others.

The difference is that WWII is a sensitive topic that affected millions of people, where as uncle sam is a comic figurehead

As German officers, they would be wearing Swasticas, which Riot probably considers a no-no. Take the swastica bands and they're not recognizable as German soldiers. Even if you leave the band and remove the swastica, everybody knows what's missing in that circle. There were also other countries involved in WWII, it would be almost offensively ignorant to make only American and German ones.

Laughing Fish1 votes

While I agree there is no chance of them making Nazi soldiers, it would not be "offensively ignorant" to only include American soldier. Rito is, after all, an American company. Taking inspiration from your own culture and history is hardly ignorance.

Yes, but I feel that most of the world would object to WWII being simplified to US vs Germany, seeing as that's how most of the US portrays it already. It's a WORLD war.

CC Cranius1 votes

True, but the World Wars couldn't possibly be portrayed through all countries. The beauty of analyzing them comes from the many scopes and perspectives of the countries that participated, and the effects, for good or ill, that the wars had.

You could use the Iron Cross from the Weimar Republic, as most WWII German games do. Takes the "Nazi" connotation out of it

I think it would be more culturally sensitive to just make an American themed Azir skin. He is a bird after all.

I'm pretty sure the German player base would be pretty pissed at their cultural representation is of the Nazi's. There may even be some laws against it.

CC Cranius1 votes

I would think that instead of a swastika, they could use the iron cross, representative of the Weimar Republic from WWI, so as to avoid offense, as most German WWII games do

CC Cranius1 votes

Oh, I like that! Maybe they load muskets when they are idle, or something. In order for the skin to work, it has to have a unique feature, and the Sun Disc and soldiers are two areas to capitalize on that.

Krfin1 votes

I would prefer the Spartan Azir skin then a WW2 skin for him lol

CC Cranius1 votes

But the fact of the matter is, it wouldn't be offensive to make a skin that pays tribute to the event. It's not like Rito would be supporting Nazisim, or neglecting any non American contribution. WWII is the go-to war for tactical command, and it fits Azir well. Any connotation, good or ill, of the war is not to be overlooked, rather acknowledged, and not incorporated into the video game.

If not WWII, then Roman legionaries, or something.
