Mirielle, the Elemental Apprentice Class: Mage Subclass: Possible Support/ Possible Assassin

Skills Passive: Chain Mastery Casting the same spell back to back grants a stack of Mastery. At 1-3 stacks, damage of that spell increases by 10% for each stack. At 4 stacks, consumes the stacks to enhance the spell, but increases its cooldown and mana cost. Casting a different spell removes the stacks, does not grant a new stack, and puts this skill on a 10 second cooldown. Once an enhanced spell has been cast, this skill goes on cooldown for 14 seconds. No stacks are gained while this skill is on cooldown.

Q: Burst Flare (Main poke or nuke skillshot) 40/45/50/55/60 Mana - 2 second cooldown at all ranks - Grants 1 stack of Fire Mastery Mirielle launches a fireball in a straight line. If it hits an enemy, the fireball explodes, dealing damage to the enemy and reduced damage to nearby enemies. Does not explode if no enemy is hit. Chain Mastery Enhancement: Fireball is larger, deals double damage, blast radius is larger, and will explode at end of its range even if no enemy is hit. Enemies caught in the blast burn for 3 seconds, suffering HP% damage and revealing them. Cooldown of Burst Flare becomes 6 seconds, mana cost to cast increases by 20.

W: Dividing Frost (Utility / CC) 50/60/70/80/90 Mana - 12/11/10/9/8 second cooldown - Grants 1 stack of Ice Mastery Mirielle raises her staff, and icicles reach up from the ground in a line in front of her (similar to Malzahar's "Call of the Void"). Enemies standing where the icicles emerge take damage and are slowed. The icicles remain for 3 seconds, dealing reduced damage every .25 sec to enemies who remain on them. Chain Mastery Enhancement: Enemies struck by emerging icicles are rooted for 1.5 seconds, and enemies who cross the line are rooted for .25 seconds and then slowed for 1 second. Damage is increased by x1.5, and the line remains for 6 seconds. Cooldown of Dividing Frost becomes 16 seconds, mana cost to cast increases by 40.

E: Spark Gate (Escape or Ambush skill) 80/85/90/95/100 Mana - 18/16/14/12/10 second cooldown - Grants 1 stack of Lightning Mastery Mirielle warps toward your cursor, creating small shockwaves when she leaves and when she arrives. Shockwaves deal small damage and slow enemies in a close range. Chain Mastery Enhancement: Travel distance doubles, shockwaves stun the closest enemy champion for 1 second but loses the slow effect. Can be cast a 2nd time for free within 2 seconds, but the 2nd shockwave doesn't have a shockwave on leaving, only reappearing. Cooldown of Spark Gate becomes 24 seconds, mana cost to cast increases by 40.

R: Proof of Mastery 100/200/300 - 90/75/60 second cooldown - Grants 1 stack of current element's mastery (Pretty much wild card for passive) Mirielle channels for .5 second, then calls down a large sphere of fire, ice, and lightning at a target area. The spheres deal area of damage once they land. The center of the target area will be hit by all 3 elements. Chain Mastery Enhancement (can use with 4 stacks of any element): Damage increases by x1.5. 3 seconds after the first volley, a 2nd volley falls around your cursor. Mirielle doesn't channel this 2nd volley, and it will fall regardless what happens to her. If slain before the 2nd volley falls, damage becomes double. Cooldown of Proof of Mastery becomes 120/110/100 seconds, mana cost to cast doesn't increase.

Lore: Home nation - Ionia Mirielle was the fourth child of two famed spellcasters. As she saw her siblings learning the separate branches of elemental magic, she knew that the only way the youngest child would get the respect and admiration of her family and village would be to master all three branches. Her ambition worked to perfection until one day when her pursuit to prove her mastery led to a challenge by one of her siblings. She proved victorious, but the challenge ended in her sibling becoming mortally wounded. In the aftermath, her sibling died, her family cast her out, and her village exiled her. Setting out on her own, she continued her study of the elemental magics. A wanderer on the same path as her told her of the League of Legends, and of the amazing spellcasters who fought on the Fields of Justice. Mirielle wasted no time, and joined in hopes of pitting her magic against the greatest mages of the League.

  • "Think that's impressive? Wait till you see my magics." -Mirielle, speaking to a spectator watching Lissandra use Frozen Tomb.

Strategy (My thoughts during design) Early Game (Mid lane mage): Mirielle is probably best at poking her lane opponent during the early phases. Burst Flare has a really short cooldown so she'll have plenty of opportunities to either launch it to poke or last hit with it. Once it gets enhanced by Chain Mastery, the damage gets pretty high and it's guaranteed to burst, igniting all enemies caught in it. However, if she's caught out by a enemy jungler and has to use Dividing Frost or Spark Gate, it'll break her Chain Mastery and put it on a long cooldown. If she continues to poke continuously with Chain Mastery enhancements, her mana bar will quickly drain out. Early Game (Bot lane support): Here Mirielle will probably trade her poke spell in for Dividing Frost's utility. Once she gets it ready for a Chain Mastery Enhance, coordinate with a jungle gank to lock down enemies with its root effects. It also proves useful in escaping enemy ganks, but her marksman probably will need their own escape mechanism since Divided Frost only roots or slows passing enemies when enhanced. Late Game / Teamfights: Once her build gets going and she has her skills tuned up, Mirielle can fill several roles. She can go full AP assassin build, using a Chain Mastery enhanced Spark Gate to warp to a misplaced squishy, unload her spells quickly, and warp out with the 2nd cast of Spark Gate. Dividing Frost is great at forcing groups to disperse a little, and Burst Flare gives her some effective anti-tank HP% damage on really short cooldowns. And if enemies start building Zhonya's Hourglass, her ultimate can be Chain Mastery enhanced to work around a stasis. The delay on the second drop ensures that it will fall after a stasis active has passed, even if Mirielle is killed during the process.

Allies: Annie Lux Rivals: Brand Ryze Lissandra

Last note: I decided not to post specific numbers or stats on her skills for the most part because that would be worked out best in PBE instead of on paper. Only stats that were critical to her kit like the cooldowns and mana costs that are affected by her passive mechanic were important for me to label. Hope you like my idea, and hope you're seeing this Riot.
