Chromas must be earned through champion mastery

Agree or disagree.

edit: So i'm glad this got some feedback:D I would like to see chromas earned through exp and special achievements in game(ex: multikills, cs per minute, touching dyrus on an emotional level). It would create a personal challenge for your favorite champions so that you can show off your love of them instead of just paying. It would be an awesome addition but I won't be mad if they don't, at the end of tthe day business is business.

It'd be an interesting mechanic, now that you suggest it.

THe colors would actually show something other than that we have a credit card and it'd make the whole leveling up thing meaningful, I approve.

FancyKiwi4/17/2015, 11:30:12 PM10 votes

I think at rank 5 champion mastery you get chromas for the default skin as a way to say "I play his dude a lot" I know they have the banner but who cares about that. Chromas for skins should cost but how much is up for debate.

I disagree. I am fine with Riot wanting money for cosmetics given that the game is free.

gagarized4/18/2015, 2:33:35 PM4 votes

I agree honestly, either that or have them available for IP. I really don't understand the logic behind having someone pay 5 dollars for 3 recolors, it seems strange.

ParlorTrick4/18/2015, 5:04:51 PM4 votes

I don't know, Riot already gives a ton away for free, and their business model and growth rely on these completely cosmetic purchases, they'd be undercutting their profit by an undetermined amount, and if people saw them as complete alternatives to getting skins (which they very well may) then they would end up seeing their profit drop even further. The only reason they're able to develop so many skins, champions and the like, the only reason they're able to constantly update the game is because they have a profit margin that allows them to employ enough people to do that. So giving them away for free would be a bad choice on their part.

So I'm happy just receiving my badge for champion mastery when it comes out.

Disagree.

Base/default skins with chromas unlock through mastery? Yea, very agreeable. Special chroma for certain ranks, events, etc? Yes, also agreeable.

Not paying for chromas ever? No, that's unrealistic cause Riot needs to make some money.

Paying for skin chromas is fine, but there should be the option to do something like: "Unlock this skin and all future Chromas for this skin, 975 RP + 500? RP"

I think that's reasonable. Skins and champions are sold in bundles so why not make champion and chroma bundles too?

Additionally, I would rather go to the store and pay $100-200 just once to have all current + future Chromas for every skin I own and will own in the future unlocked instead of having to buy all these little sets.

Honestly, I will not buy any chromas if they ship as is. It is not because I think the current price is unreasonable or that this it a good initiative (let's face it, this is long overdue). I won't buy the chromas simply because I personally do not feel they are worth it.

Do they look nice? Sure, not all of them but overall they look nice.

I've already chosen to support Riot and League of Legends by buying many skins and introducing people to the game. Even if the price of a chroma or set of chromas translates to about $1, that ain't worth it for me. If the chroma changed the colour of the champion and some of the VFX, then yea I would totally buy some.

If doesn't even have to be fancy VFX changes, just re-colours like on the character model. I've seen Blitz hundreds to thousands of times. If you want me to buy a chroma for his derpy ass, then that Red Blitz better have red lightning for Static Field and red sparks on Power Fist.

To me, that doesn't seem like an unreasonable request or expectation because Riot isn't the same company it was when Green and Pink Taric were considered perfectly legitimate full-priced skins.

PhoenixSlayer134/18/2015, 1:04:30 AM3 votes

I'd go with either that or buying through IP. If it's by IP, I'd accept buying one chroma at a time; most people have said they'd only want one chroma from the packs presented anyway.

PandahHeart4/18/2015, 4:18:48 PM3 votes

I agree. As a person who spends lots of money on RP, I personally will probably not buy the chromas since I would rather buy a $10 skin than a $5 chroma pack. I would like to see the chromas earned and when I see the loading screen, I can say "wow that guy earned blue Lucian from mastery, he must be good with him," not "Wow that guy _bought _blue Lucian." If they offered chromas from champion mastery, I would seriously spend my time learning to master all of the champions. And this is a good incentive so that people would be willing to learn ALL of the champions and be familiar with them. People would have a better knowledge of when to engage on them or understand what their kit is. This especially helps newer players in learning all of the champions or those people that have some champions they got but do not know how to play yet.

I understand that League is a free game and I am a person who spends money on RP to support them and to buy their amazing skins so I'm not trying to get _free _stuff here because I'm greedy.

TenSlashTen4/18/2015, 4:19:43 PM3 votes

I think champion mastery or buying them is perfectly fine. But these retards, aka people who are too SLOW to understand that its a company not a charity, who think they should be free or ANYTHING IN THIS GAME should be free need to really fuck off right now lol

Maliginant4/18/2015, 3:41:28 AM3 votes

I would agree only because the recolors do not appear to be worth spending money on. As someone else posted a while back, it's really easy to recolor a skin and if you know how to do it it only takes a few minutes to fully recolor a skin.

LeeDark4/18/2015, 5:03:50 AM3 votes

That's really all you had to say, and you couldn't be bothered to even make it a poll?

The Trent4/18/2015, 1:34:22 AM3 votes

Seriously I'm sick of all these threads saying this. Riot already announced that they are going to do this later on before any of these threads started. Can you at least do research before posting something like this?

Agree, because looking cool while also saying you're good at something is the best.

Svddenly4/18/2015, 12:25:52 AM2 votes

YES. THIS IS WHAT I WANTED IT TO BE LIKE SINCE CHROMAS HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED. RITO PLZ.

Blawynn4/18/2015, 2:39:49 AM2 votes

Agree.

Fisk4/18/2015, 3:02:51 AM2 votes

Where is the poll!!

Newb the Legend4/18/2015, 5:19:04 AM2 votes

I would have it so you could choose ONE chroma for the base skin when you "master" a champion, and have it at a discounted price for the rest of the set.

Squeaky Dreemurr4/18/2015, 6:09:16 AM2 votes

Agreee

BubbaDuke4/18/2015, 7:43:31 AM2 votes

I think that there should be a chroma for reaching a certain champion mastery level.

I also think other Chroma's should be obtainable with IP and RP, like champions.

Agreed summoner 13

DeynaTaggerung4/18/2015, 7:11:14 PM2 votes

The issue with this is that it would mean Riot needs to make chromas for every champ. That could take a while, would be a bunch of work and then in the end it'd go away free. I like the idea if there were chromas in place for every champ already.

M0RDEKA1SER4/18/2015, 3:22:33 PM1 votes

While I love the idea of unlocking a chroma skin because I've "mastered" a champion, one thing that has to be taken into consideration is that there's a team working on these skins. They're putting hours if not days into making these things work as best as they can. Shoot, come to think of it, how long have they already been working on it? Weeks that we know of, maybe they've been working on this for months and are only recently telling us about it.

Some of these team members probably have wives and kids to feed. If anything, I would have these chromas make enough money to help those guys feed themselves and their families (if any). But, after that, maybe champion mastery could be used to unlock chromas or even give a discount on them based on mastery rank.

Call it "greed" all you want, but I'd like to think I'm helping someone feed and clothe their kids, rather than be the reason they struggle to.
