Quinn Mini Update

As the title states the main goal is to make an Ezreal size update that better delivers on the bird trainer / ranger fantasy. Actual damage numbers are simply placeholders to give a rough idea. This is just some ideas for some gameplay changes, thoughts welcome. On a side note one major visual change I'd love to see with this, is making Valor permanently visible and flying around Quinn like Orianna's ball

My mini goals are

  • Make Valor a more meaningful part of her kit
  • Keep her versatility in positions (Top, Jg, Mid, ADC)
  • Make her early laning less annoying for melee champions by providing windows for them to punish
  • Make Quinn abuse assassin items less (this is a questionable one as her ranged assassin playstyle is unique, but I feel it moves her too far away from the beastmaster/ranger fantasy, and when these builds are strong, they can be unhealthy)

Passive - Tag Team While Valor is near Quinn, Quinn gains 5% total armour and magic resist and Valor will occasionally attack enemy units within 400 units of Quinn (prioritising champions or targets Quinn is attacking) dealing 20 (+0.5 total AD) physical damage. The frequency with which Valor attacks nearby enemies scales with attack speed.

After Valor deals damage to an enemy champion or monster through tag team or another ability, that champion or monster will be marked. When Quinn deals damage to a marked target they take (4/5/6% Current health + 0.5 total AD) bonus physical damage.

Q - Scout Ahead Cooldown: 14/12/10/8/6 seconds Mana Cost: 60/55/50/45/40 + 3 per second while Valor is attacking Valor moves towards a target location (Valors movement speed scales with ultimate) within 2500 units of Quinn, revealing it. If no enemy units are there Valor will rise into the air leaving a small shadow and continue to reveal the area. When an enemy champion, minion, or monster walks within range Valor will descend blinding the target for 1.5 seconds and deal 20/30/40/50/60 + 0.5 total AD every x seconds (scales 1:1 with Quinns attack speed) to all targets in a 200 unit area. While still moving to the target location, Quinn cannot cast her W or R. If an enemy is already at the location when Valor arrives, Valor will not blind the target and will attack immediately instead. Recasting Q once Valor has arrived at the target location will cause Valor to return to near Quinn. While placed, Valor can take tower aggro. If Valor takes damage from a tower, Valor will retreat for 10 seconds and be unable to help Quinn during that duration.

W - Cover Me/Rush Cooldown: 15/14/13/12/11 seconds Mana Cost: 50 If Valor is away from Quinn, Valor will return to near Quinn. When near Quinn Valor will briefly stop attacking nearby enemies and instead grant Quinn 16/22/28/34/40% damage reduction and 20/25/30/35/40% movement speed for 2 seconds.

While under the effects of R Quinn and Valor will instead dash 200 units in a target direction, this can be used to traverse small walls

E - Vault Unchanged

R - Behind Enemy Lines Change movement speed bonus from 70/100/130% to 80/100/120% and change mana cost from 100/50/0 to 70/50/30 idea is to add some strength early at the cost of some strength late, otherwise unchanged.

Why these changes The major changes are to her q and w.

Q is now also functions as a zone control/vision ability, which provides more opportunities to move Valor around and can be used to scout the enemy jg during invades or keep an eye on the river to help prevent ganks. A well placed Q can also ramp her damage up massively by effectively giving her two autos with both her auto then Valor's attacks and the proc bonus (runaans synergy would be great) this gives her a lot of power on stationary targets (like minions and Baron) or when fighting in jungle corridors and chokes. This comes at the cost of the harass of her old q and attack speed steroid on her old W. Also Q by itself without Quinn proccing the marks has little burst damage and is only a small area which Quinn lacks the means to stop people walking out of without using her only real escape in E. Furthermore since Valor fly's to the position, while in vision in lane it is easy to just walk away from where Valor is flying until Valor gets a bit faster with a few ranks in Quinn's R. This utility and damage also comes at the cost of survivability, without Valor being near Quinn, Quinn loses armour, MR and can't use her W or R. Meaning she has less tools to run away and if jumped on will die very quickly giving tanks and fighters opportunities to all in her while Valor has to fly back to Quinn before he can help her out.

W is changed from being a bunch of passive steroids and a vision tool, to a more targeted defensive tool very close to Annie E. It keeps the movement speed boost, but since it is now tied to the active and not her passive, Quinn can no longer proc the movement speed every 3 seconds making her easier to lock down if you do get on top of her, however a well timed W can massively increase her survivability against assassins and all ins. Furthermore during R it becomes a small dash compensating for the small movement speed loss and allowing her to traverse walls, making her more elusive while scouting behind enemy lines :p.

Again these are simply thoughts, and there is definitely a risk that giving her more vulnerability to being jumped on could affect her performance in solo lanes, where she is picked for her ability to poke with q and bully, but I think ultimately these changes push her closer to her intended fantasy and hopefully the additional waveclear can compensate. Any thoughts are welcome.

Why not simply revert her? Valor will be much more functional then.

If you think the ideas are just bad that is cool, but can I ask why? What parts do you not like? If you think Quinn & Valor should not be adjusted that is fine too. I am interested in hearing people's opinions.
