Medeina, The Spirit of Nature

"Mess with my trees, you mess with me." - Medeina.

LORE ~ The Spirit of Nature is not a person but a force that resides within all living things of Runeterra, old as the world

itself. Once a prominent force in Valoran, the Spirit of Nature has come to face terrible misuse and wars of magic that

forever shaped the lands. The force slowly draining, it resides in the Great Tree in the center of Ionia and the Shadow

Isles and bestows these areas with unnatural beauty and power, leaving other areas to the harsh side of the spirit.

When the King of the Shadow Isles ordered sorcerers to crack open the barriers of life and death and corrupting the place

and tainting the spirit, it abandons the isle and favors Ionia. Years and years, the Spirit of Nature watches as Valoran

turns into a wasteland. After the tainting of the Shadow Isles, a Black Mist rolls from the area each Harrowing and takes

everything back to the Isle with it. The spirit, believing not staying to help fight the mist caused the mist to seek life

and turn it into death, instills the spirit of nature in a human vessel, Medeina, the Guardian of the Great Tree, and

seeks out the League of Legends to warn of the apocalypse that is to come.

DESCRIPTION ~ Medeina is a tanky support focused on using nature (and herself) to buff and help allies across the map. Medeina creates

pets that can be planted globally and fed to gain bonuses and aid other allies when she can't. Medeina's stats

reflect on all her pets and effects the game.

ABILITIES ~ Passive: Tree of Life Rejuvenating Water Medeina adds an item to the store: Rejuvenating Water (cost: 1G). Allies can buy Rejuvenating Water and use it on

Medeina's trees. Allies are given 1 extra gold to do so at the start of the game. Multiple Rejuvenating Water's

can be bought at once, max of 3. The Spirit of Nature Medeina's presence on the Fields of Justice causes all nature to aid her and her allies. saplings that are

watered frequently and are fully grown uproot to help allied champions that are being attacked within range. If an ally is attacking a turret, Trees of Life will come to aid as well. This applies even after Medeina's death on the map.

W: Sapling Cost: 1 Seed Cooldown: 1 Seconds Regeneration Time: 18 / 17 / 16 / 15 / 14 Seconds Range: 850 Active: Medeina plants a sapling at a target location that takes Rejuvenating Water to grow. Medeina can only hold three

seeds at once. When watered, there is a one minute cooldown until it can be watered again. Saplings grow into Trees of

Life after five waterings, gaining bonuses while growing. Passive: Passively increases Medeina's, Saplings, and Tree's of Life's armo, magic resist, and health each

rank.

Active: Medeina plants a sapling at a target location that takes Rejuvenating Water to grow. Medeina can only hold three

charges of seeds at once and regenerates one seed every 18 / 17 / 16 / 15 / 14 Seconds. When watered, there is a 1 minute

cooldown until it can be watered again, a max of 5 minutes of continuous watering to grow fully. Saplings grow into Trees

of Life after five waterings, gaining bonuses while growing. If a sapling is not watered after 5 minutes, it withers and

the seed is returned to Medeina. If Medeina's charges are full, the seed will remain until picked up by the original

owner (shown on ability bar as a passive) or Medeina and can be planted again using CTRL + 6. Saplings and Trees are shown

on the minimap and if you own one yours will be shown as red. Bonuses such as the Elixir of Ruin and Heimerdingers passive

are applied to Trees of Life only.

Passive: Passively increases Medeina's, Saplings, and Tree's of Life's armor, magic resist, and health by

10 each rank.

W: Tree/Champion Interaction When you water a sapling it earns bonuses that reflect in its aura (or range). There are three types of tree bonuses:

  1. Standard. You are standing in its aura as an ally.
  2. Owner. Owners are given additional bonuses including standard.
  3. Tree of Life. Trees of Life evolve standard and owner bonuses.

1 Water Standard Bonus: Owner is switched from Medeina to the first person to water the sapling. Owner Bonus: Gains ownership of the sapling and gains favor of the sapling. Once a Tree of Life, your trees will favor you

in battle instead of an ally! Tree of Life Bonus: Passive implication.

2 Waters Standard Bonus: Sapling turns into a stealth ward and pings if an enemy walks into its vision. Owner Bonus: Owned trees will inform their owners of who entered view (Medeina Bot [Sapling]: MReturns [Morgana] was seen

nearby!) Tree of Life Bonus: Vision can see invisible champions and objects.

3 Waters Standard Bonus: Aura gives allied champions inside of it increased HPS (health per second). Owner Bonus: Owners are given increased armor and magic resist. Tree of Life Bonus: HPS increased. Armor and magic resist increased.

4 Waters Standard Bonus: Aura gives allied champions inside of it increased MPS (mana per second). Owner Bonus: Owners are given extra mana each time they walk into the aura. Tree of Life Bonus: MPS increased. Extra mana increased.

5 Waters Standard Bonus: Sapling turns into a Tree of Life. Owner Bonus: Trees of Life will absorb some damage dealt to their owners in their aura. Tree of Life Bonus: All bonuses evolve. Owners can take and replant trees.

Additional Owner Bonuses

  • When you water a seed you will gain the buff "Life Giver - This champion owns a tree."
  • Owned tree's can have their names changed by the command /tname.
  • If you own multiple trees, the command will be /tname1, /tname2, etc in the order you watered them.
  • Bonuses will show up as a buff.
  • Names, owners, health, bonuses, and time until death can be shown by hovering over a tree.
  • Can stack the Life Giver buff.

E: Nature's Aid Cost: 50 Mana at all ranks Cooldown: 10 / 9 / 8 / 7 / 6 Seconds Range: 800 Medeina selects an ally to shield with the spirit of flowers. When hit with damage, the flowers absorb it and reflects it back on the damage dealers. Additionally, when the shield dissipates Medeina and the lowest health ally champion are healed for half the damage absorbed by the shield.

Medeina selects an ally to shield with the spirit of flowers for 6 seconds. When a shielded ally is hit with damage, the shield forms and absorbs 40 / 70 / 100 / 130 / 160 (+50 Ability Power) damage and reflects the absorbed damage back on the

individual dealers. Additionally, when the shield dissipates Medeina and the lowest health ally champion closest to her

are healed for 50% of the damage absorbed by the shield.

R: The Great Tree Cost: 100 Mana at all ranks Cooldown: 110 / 100 / 90 Seconds Range: 600 Medeina returns to her original form of the Great Tree in Ionia. Nearby enemy champions are stunned at the beauty of the

tree and have their damage output against all nature reduced. The presence of the Great Tree causes all nearby Tree's

of Life to attack enemies.

Medeina returns to her original form of the Great Tree in Ionia. Nearby enemy champions are stunned for 1 / 1.5 / 2 Seconds. Recently stunned enemy champions have their damage output against all nature reduced by 20% at all ranks. The

presence of the Great Tree causes all nearby Tree's of Life to attack enemies.

GAMEPLAY ~ Laning Phase Medeina's kit and her effectiveness in game depends on one ability: W. If her and allies take care of and keep up

with saplings it will increase their potential to win late game. Start with W and chose 3 out of 4 places to place the

sapling: Top, Mid, Bottom, and the Jungle. Placement of early saplings will help the laning phase. Placing saplings in

lane gives access to bonuses but endangers them to being destroyed if the lane is pushed up. Placing saplings in the bush

nearest to your tower will ensure their safety and growth but deny bonuses during the laning phase, especially if

you're winning lane and have the lane pushed up to the enemy's tower. Suggest replanting them once they are

fully watered. Placing them in the jungle will help the junglers clear camps with increased HPS/MPS/Armor/Magic Resist and

provide a ward for camps, especially squishy junglers. But, counter jungling endangers saplings to being destroyed.

In lane, Medeina's job as a support is to soak up damage, making sure her ADC doesn't, and take care of saplings

for mid and late game. To ensure this, if poke heavy champions want to go all in or come up for poke shield your ADC to

reflect some of that damage back onto them. Enemies will stop attacking a shielded ally and attack you instead. If they

focus you instead disable them with Q or land a multi-stun with R. Bursty but squishy ADCs like Varus and Vayne excel with

this type of match up.

Mid Game This is where Medeina shines the most depending on kept with saplings. After the bot lane's turret is gone or the

lane is pushed up, start planting more saplings and ping the jungler or other laners to claim them. In other words, start

building your tree army for team fights. If other lanes are doing poorly ask your ADC to asist in a gank.

The time has come. If your tree army is fully grown it's time to replant them for a team fight. Nothing is more scary

than trees coming from the river and smacking you in the face. If the enemy is pushing mid or trying to take a turret,

line up trees in the bush or in the fog and lead your team with your ult. The tree army will awaken and give bonuses to

your team. If an ally is being focused, shield them to get enemies lower for cleanup. Dance on the enemies dead bodies.

Late Game If your team is winning and/or kept up with their saplings, it's time for a pushing frenzy. This can turn around

whole games if the enemy decides to ignore a pushing Medeina with her tree army. Build ZZ'Rot and Banner of Command

to shred turrets. Due to her passive, nearby Trees of Life will aid her automatically. This will always entice a teamfight

so be sure your R is ready and watch as the army eats the enemy alive.

LANING WITH (Meta ADCS) ~ Vayne : Vayne needs a tanky all in support to stay behind. Medeina provides all of that, plus extra HPS/MPS/Armor/Magic Resist provided by Medeina's trees. Kalista : The 1 2 Ultimate Combo ending with Medeina's Q has disables lasting longer than church. Lucian : The 1 2 Ultimate Combo allows Lucian to line up his perfectly. MissFortune : The 1 2 Ultimate Combo allows Miss Fortune to fully channel hers without the fear of being stopped. Varus : The 1 2 Ultimate Combo combined with Varus's burst doesn't have any survivors. Ashe : The 1 2. Twitch : Medeina's E allows Twitch to spray the entire enemy team without fear of being focused. Not to

mention the 1 2. Caitlyn : Caitlyn can poke freely with Medeina's E. Not to mention the 1 2 Ultimate Combo snipes. Urgot : If Urgot can ult someone into Medeina, the 1 2 Ultimate Combo also applies here.

LANING AGAINST (Meta Supports) Bard : If Bard doesn't get ulted along with his teammates he can land his ult and cancel Medeina's.

His poke and roaming is also superior than Medeina and can find hidden saplings while roaming. Blitzcrank : If Blitzcrank pulls your ADC, you'll most likely have to flash and ult if its up. Otherwise,

you'll have to land your Q before he knocks up your ADC and get them pregnant. Braum : Braum's defense is on par with Medeina's defense, its a matter of who goes in first / who

turns level 6 first. Leona : Leona's kit have stuns longer than Medeina's. Leona can also lock onto Medeina's ADC and

land a full combo. Its a matter of who goes in first and land perfect combos. Lulu : If Lulu isn't killed first, she'll save her ADC with her shield and a quick ult. Make sure

you know her ult is on CD or you're a higher level than her before going in, otherwise you'll have to bait her

to ult herself and turn on her ADC. Sona : Who can land the 1 2 Ultimate Combo first? Medeina's E reflects damage back on Sona if she decides

to proc her passive and spellthief, so she'll have to sit back and wait for Medeina to use her E before poking. Soraka : Soraka can heal any of Medeina's poke with her Q, but at the expense of her health. If Soraka gets

too heal happy go all in and elimate her. Thresh : If Thresh isn't caught in the 1 2 Ultimate Combo and his ADC has health afterwards, he can throw a

W and save his ADC easily. Zilean : Bomb frenzy. Zilean will try to throw bombs on your ADC, so shield them with E and watch his health

decrease, especially if he's going full AP. Make sure he's caught in the 1 2 Ultimate Combo otherwise he'll

ult his own ADC and the fight could be turned around.

DUO-QUEUEING WITH ~ Your Jungler: I feel as if duo-queueing with your jungler increases Medeina's effectiveness mid/late game. Junglers are

roamers that can check up on saplings and water them if lanes can't. Speedy junglers like RekSai can clear

camps, water trees, and gank lanes with ease (nothing makes we laugh more than seeing Rek'Sai ulting to save a sapling

from dying).

Your ADC: Goes the same as any support duo-queueing with their ADC.

ART CONCEPT (CLASSIC / SKINS) ~ Classic Basing Medeina off of Karma, she'll have tan - dark skin as well. All skins (I'm looking at you, Hired Gun Lucian).

The Spirit of Nature was never a person and instead possessed someone else, so Medeina wont be a naked woman with leaves

over her nipples. Medeina, the Guardian of The Great Tree, was given prized Ionian armor and sword to guard the tree with

in case someone tried to forcefully take it. Based on the cherry blossom looking trees around [The Placidium]

and also in the trees in the skin splash, Medeina's armor will be reddish/pink with saplings and Trees of Life have

pink leaves. Comparing Ionia Master Yi and[ Irelia's](http://www.leaguesplash.com/wp-

content/uploads/2013/09/OriginalIrelia-690x388.jpg) classic armor, Ionian armor feature red boots with silver covering.

Red and silver are also mixed on the chestplate, shoulderpads, and flap things on the hips. See for yourself, links above. As for Medeina's blade, it'll be based off of Ionia Master Yi's with the crest of Ionia on the handle.

Perhaps something fancy on the blade.

Q: Tree stumps come out of the ground. W: Plants a bare sapling. As it grows, it grows pink leaves and other branches. When it becomes a Tree of Life it's

completely covered with pink leaves. When standing idle or near allied champions, it wears a smle on its tree-y face. When

going into battle it has a menacing face much like those from Dont Starve and The Wizard of Oz. E: Shield is pink and covered in pink flowers, similar to Order of The Lotus Karma's shield. When it dissipates, the

shield turns into leaves and is blown away. Leaves blow around select healed allies with pink particles. R: The Great Tree on the Ionian Crest. Most likely has pink leaves as well. Recall Animation: Medeina attempts to train baby trees on an ancient Ionian dance. One falls over on its face and she

laughs.

Winter Soldier/Arctic Ops/Arctic Warfare Medeina (if you have any other name suggestions, please comment) The concept for this skin is winter. Medeina will be switching her armor for something more suited for the season. Not a

two piece made of fur either. Probably based off of Russian soldiers like in Arctic Warefare Caitlyn. Blade is replaced

with a Shashka.

Q: Tree stumps come out of the ground covered in snow. W: Plants a bare sapling. As it grows, it doesn't grow any leaves. When it becomes a Tree of Life the top is covered

in snow. When standing idle or near allied champions, the face is similar to that of a soldier on guard. It becomes angry

when it goes into battle. Owned trees will possibly alert their owners with something like General/Commander/Fellow

Soldier. E: Shield is replaced with snowflakes similar to Winter Wonder Lulu's shield. When it dissipates, it turns into snow

and is blown away. Snow blows on select healed allies with white particles. R: A giant oak tree covered in snow. The Ionian crest is replaced with Freljord's crest. Recall Animation: Medeina walks down a line of baby soldier trees like a general of the army would do. The trees try to

keep their posture, but crack under pressure. One drops his sword and another has snow fall in his face. One even cries

under pressure. Medeina facepalms.

Haunted Medeina Harrowing skin that goes against her lore. Let's say she did stay and became corrupted by the Shadow Isles. This would be

her afterwards. It also ties with Zyra and Maokai's skins, fellow nature buddies. Medeina's armor will be blue-

ish/greenish misty Shadow Isles color like all the Shadow Isles champions and skins (Mordekaiser and Yorick update soon).

Her blade would be curved in a similar fashion of[ Hecarim's]

Q: Stumps have the same ghastly appearance. W: Plants a bare sapling. As it grows, it doesn't grow any leaves but retains its ghastly color, similar to the trees seen

on the Shadow Isles promo site. When it becomes a Tree of Life it

has a mean face always (little Maokai's anyone?). E: Shield is black with ravens (same from Bewitching Nidalee's passive) that fly around the shielded target. When it

dissipates, it turns into a flock of ravens and flies away. Select ravens fly around healed allies with black particles. R: A huge Shadow Isles tree with the crest in the middle. Maybe a flock of ravens will come out the tree and scare the

**** out of the enemy team. Recall Animation: Medeina tries to channel back her old self: classic Medeina. Black mist (or greenish mist) encase her

and turn her back to Haunted Medeina. She sighs and drops to the ground in defeat, comforted by her haunted baby trees.

Legacy skin along with Haunted Maokai or permanent in the store with Haunted Zyra?

Festive/Christmas/Spirit of Christmas Medeina (Any other name suggestions let me know). Snowdown Showdown skin! Obviously would fit her perfectly. Medeina switches her armor for a Santa outfit wrapped in

Christmas lights. Her sword has the traditional star on the hilt. Q: Full Christmas trees pop up out the ground. W: Plants a bare version of a Christmas tree. As bonuses are added, so are decorations and presents under the tree. Each

present represents a bonus earned. Once fully grown, the traditional star is on top of the tree. Idle/Battle face same as

classic skin. Owned trees would alert their owners with something like MReturns [Morgana] was seen trying to steal

Christmas! E: Medeina shields an ally with the Christmas lights around herself. They blink as damage is soaked. When it dissipates,

green particles heal allies and the lights return to Medeina. R: A giant Christmas tree with many presents underneath. Medeina will probably say something like "Merry Christmas!" on

cast. Recall Animation: A long line of baby christmas trees appear in front of Medeina. She's holding a sack of presents and

passing them out. The line becomes overwhelming and trample Medeina.

I can see it as a legacy skin along with Winter Wonder Lulu.

Camper Medeina Regularly released skin, probably ultimate or above. The concept is of Medeina tackling herself, nature. Medeina switches

her armor for a simple camping outfit and hat, probably similar to Safari Caitlyn's outfit. Her sword would probably be a

torch or one of those [tiki torches](https://s-media-cache-

ak0.pinimg.com/736x/f6/b2/53/f6b253da68fd80ecdb40647d497a2b33.jpg) that keep bugs out of camps. Q: Regular tree trunks. W: Plants a campfire with a tree in the middle. As bonuses are added, the campfire grows and random camp items

representing bonuses surround the fire. Once fully grown, the tree is caught on fire and fully awakes. Face is always on

alert and scared because its on fire. Regular quotes with specials for animals (ex. A bear MReturns [Volibear] was seen

trying to eat the food!). E: Medeina sprays an ally with bugspray as a shield. As damage is soaked bugs try to get inside the shield. When it

dissipates, the bugs go to the allies instead and heal them. R: Turns into the living embodiment of a scary camp fire story. Tree is a large one (??? grammar) with bare brances and a

spooky carved Tree face in the middle. At the bottom is a campfire as always. Spooky kooks. Recall Animation: Medeina sticks the tiki torch into the ground and sits at a premade campfire. She picks up a book and

begin to read stories to baby trees on fire.

**INTERACTIONS WITH (Champions) ~ **

  • Like Maokai and Zyra, if Sion/Karthus kills Medeina and vice versa they are awarded an extra 2 gold as a nod to Plants

vs Zombies.

  • Medeina gets +1 extra movement speed if Maokai and Zyra are on her team.
  • Medeina's plants seem to be larger around an allied Leona, and seem to be larger when an enemy Leona applies her passive

on them.

  • Being the spirit of nature, Medeina gives allied Maokai and Zyra extra attack speed (for Zyra's plants as well).

INTERACTIONS WITH (TTT) ~

The trees have complex abilities and seem confusing to me. There is just so many things happening when 1 gets watered.

The only thing I'm gonna tell you is the same thing I told Oh The JINX in his/her MCCC entry:

Since Riot pretty much removed the Institute Of War and(pretty much) the League Of Legends from the official lore, I'd suggest taking a different route towards ending your lore. Other than that I love it.

So what happens when champions have a full inventory?

Does the seed have an inventory space of its own? It probably should.

Also, in regards to the 4th watering owner bonus : this needs a cooldown, or else nothing is stopping me from going in and out of the area to constantly spam spells.

Judges and whoever else is reading this: The sheer amount of characters in this post made it choppy and I can't edit it anymore. On a side note, my district decided to drop state and eoc tests within the same month so I wasn't able to write the lore challenge. Sorry!
