Zyra Official Concept Art

Disclaimer: I don't own this art. Most of this is copy pasted from http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Zyra. These are just some small changes that could improve her gameplay with the mage update coming mid-summer. I will not claim to know how to play Zyra very well but hopefully these variations on her skills are in a good direction.

  • Passive; Vengeful Thorn:

  • After Zyra dies can chose her body or a nearby seed. Once chosen she grows a flower that deals damage to nearby enemies. If an enemy dies nearby while this passive is active she comes back to life. She revives in a pod that slowly restores her health and mana. She can shop while in the pod. “In Zyra’s lore she is a dying plant that transfers her consciousness into a human sorcerer. This bit of lore shows how tenacious of a plant she is. She is the last of her kind and because she doesn’t want to die she completely changes her whole being to survive. Nothing will stop this bloodthirsty plant.”

  • Passive; Rise of the Thorns:

  • If one of Zyra's basic abilities hits a seed, a Thorn Spitter grows from it and automatically attacks nearby enemies. Thorn Spitters lasts for up to 10 seconds, attacking enemies with long-ranged attacks. Multiple plants striking the same target deal only half damage.

“One of the staple parts of Zyra’s kit is that she uses her seeds to grow her plants. Centuries ago when her kind dominated the Kumungu jungle they used thorns and vines to consume their pray. I think that it would be less confusing with a single plant to think about. I believe that Riot has stated that one of the reasons Zyra doesn’t have many skins is that she has a lot of assets to deal with. Which means more skins.”

  • Q; Deadly Bloom: Range: 800
  • ACTIVE: Zyra sprouts thorns at the target location after a delay, dealing magic damage to enemies within the area. This also marks enemy champions. Marked champions take more damage from Zyra and her plants.

“Currently Zyra’s autos marks enemy champions. Maybe she doesn’t need the damage amplification?”

  • W; Rampant Growth: Range: 850
  • PASSIVE: Zyra Gains 1% cooldown reduction per active seed. Seeds use an ammo system and stores up to a maximum of 2 stored at once.
  • ACTIVE: Zyra plants a seed at the target location for 30 seconds, granting vision in a small area around it. Seeds can be placed near Zyra or near other seeds no range limit.
  • Up to 10 seeds can be planted at a time, and planting an additional seed destroys the oldest. After 1.5 seconds, enemy champions can step on a seed to destroy it, but doing so grants true sight of them for 2 seconds and slows for .2 seconds.

“So this skill might seem like a lot but in essence it really hasn’t changed. She still receives cooldown but now she needs to work for it. She needs to use this skill to cultivate, this way players will feel more rewarded with the CDR they get. I think that it would to be really cool to have a skill like Abathur from “Heros of the Storm”. The coolest thing about that champ is his ability to control vision even across map. It could also be compared to the Zergs creep even though it only gives vision. I think it could be really cool”

  • E; Grasping Roots: Range: 1100

  • ACTIVE: Zyra sends a surge of vines in the target direction, dealing magic damage to enemies hit and rooting them for a short duration. “Hey if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”

  • R; Stranglethorns: Range: 700

  • ACTIVE: Zyra summons a monstrous thicket at the target location, as it expands it slows while dealing magic damage to all enemies in the area. After 2 seconds of an enemy standing in the thicket the vines snare that champ. Snared champions are dragged into the center of the circle where they are then dealt lots of damage. Lasts as long as an enemy is in the process of being dragged into the center

  • PASSIVE: While Stranglethorns is active all plants receive extra range and deal more damage.

“So when thinking about a giant thicket growing underneath you, do you think knock up? I personally don’t I imagine vine’s wrapping around me cutting off my escape and then dragging me back to where I will get devoured. Well that’s morbidly what I think. Currently Zyra’s ult gives plant within the area attack speed, which can be underwhelming. I think with this passive even if the ult misses her plants it can still do something.”

I really like how you used her Lore to influence her Abilities, I actually the Changes you made.

As a part Zyra main I LOVE that new passive. But I don't get what you mean by "revives in a pod that slowly restores her health and mana". While in the pod is she invincible like Aatrox's passive? Is she kinda like Anivia's egg or Zac's blob-jelly-thingies that can be attacked? How fast is the heal/mana regen (I'm imagine it kinda as fast as Aatrox's)? And does it have cooldown?

Also 10 maximum seeds? I'm guessing you chose to increase this because of the passive but how would that be possible if she only stacks 2 and they only last 30 seconds? (reduced cooldown?) I'm also guessing plants don't deal as much damage anymore? I mean imagine just planting all 10 in one bush and then using E lol. That would be fun.

This is a great way to diversify a champion. Zyra is really strong and all she needed was some tweaks, Her ult I agree really confused me in the sense that vines on the ground would not knock you into the air... on the contrary as you say it would drag you to the ground. This was well thought out and I love how you incorporated her lore into the kit.

Honestly I've been against most of the revive passives but yours is really nice! However I think Zyra should have more plants too choose from and I also disagree when you said "less confusing" and "less work for Rito". Firstly I think making a choice between range and slow are impactful and give her decision making (even though once you get rylais you can just use range plants). I think making Zyra more plant-like would involve creating perhaps another type of plant. Secondly the whole thing about Zyra getting less skins because of more work is so stupid. Riot is a company they work hard in order to perform! It's like with Zac, they just need to put in more work and stuff but they won't which is lame. Not going against you at all here but against Rito.
