Champion Concept: Zafria, Prophetess of The Light

Concept Zafria came from the idea that supports can't be AD, and I wanted to change that. The driving force behind Zafria is that she is an attack damage based support who heals her allies by basic attacking them, similar to Ana in Overwatch. However, Zafria's abilities focus on enhancing her ways to benefit and heal allies, as opposed to Ana's utility-based kit.

Aesthetics and Theme Zafria's character is intended to be that of a holy disciple, someone devoted to doing good. Zafria believes in The Light, a holy force that has bestowed her with great power, but great responsibility as well (thanks, Uncle Ben). She has been charged with spreading the message of The Light, and to save the people of Runeterra from their own destruction.

Zafria wears gray cloth robes that appear to be weathered, that stretch from her shoulders to her ankles, and cover her arms down to her wrists. She wears a golden necklace and is barefoot. Her hands have a slight yellow glow emanating from them. She has light brown skin.

Zafria's basic attacks are yellow bolts of light that shimmer on their way to their target. Zafria's basic attack animation looks similar to Chang'e's basic attack animation from Smite: reaching down to her waist and procuring a bolt, before throwing it forward. Zafria's critical strike animation would be her making a full spin, backhanding the air, and releasing a bolt of light from her hand towards her target. Upon reaching 1.00 attack speed, Zafria's auto attacks are visually procured more quickly, and are now always released from her hands instead of being pulled from her waist. However, her critical strike animation will still be the only way that a backhand will be triggered.

Zafria's release skin would be Scarlet Crusader Zafria, a reference to the WoW religious cult. Zafria's robes would be red, Chastise would leave the symbol of the Scarlet Crusade on top of the enemy, Piety's AOE would be red, Benediction's tether would be red, and Surge of Light would cause Zafria to glow in red and grow red wings.

Playstyle and Stats

Zafria builds like most ADC's would. Because of this, her build will end up being considerably expensive. To supplement her expensive build and support's generally low income, Zafria has high base attack speed, attack speed gain, and attack damage. However, her damage is kept in line because of her passive, Light Protector. Zafria fills the same role as Soraka or Sona, but has a different playstyle and a higher potential for group healing than both Soraka and Sona. She also provides strong consistent healing, but at the cost of low health and damage, as well as limited utility when compared to Soraka and Sona.

Health: 500 (+61 per level) - 1537 at level 18. Health Regen: 3.1 per 5 seconds (+.7 per 5 seconds per level) - 15 per 5 seconds at level 18. Mana: 500 (+55.55 per level) - 1444 at level 18. Mana Regen: 12 per 5 seconds (+.5 per level) - 20.5 per 5 seconds at level 18. Attack Range: 500 Attack Damage: 68 (+5 per level) - 153 at level 18. (Note: this places Zafria at both the highest base attack damage at level 1 and at level 18, as well as having the largest attack damage growth. However, this is justified by her passive, Light Protector.) Attack Speed: .7 (+4% per level) - 1.176 at level 18. (Note: the logic behind Zafria's Attack Damage is the same logic behind Zafria's high base Attack Speed. Armor: 25 (+3 per level) - 76 at level 18. Magic Resist: 30 (+.5 per level) - 38.5 per level. Movement Speed: 330.

Abilities Passive - Light Protector: Self-Targeted Innate Buff

Zafria can basic attack allied Champions to restore (50% AD) health to them. However, her basic attacks only deal (50% AD) damage to enemies. Item effects can also effect allies.

Light Protector is Zafria's bread and butter. However, it also causes her to deal considerably low damage, and rely somewhat heavily on her ADC in lane in order to accomplish much in fights. This passive also makes it somewhat impossible for Zafria to play solo lanes, as she is not able to heal herself with Light Protector. Light Protector can trigger on-hit effects on allies, including Critical Strikes. Following is a breakdown of how each on-hit item effects Zafria's heals. Items that grant Zafria on-hit effects will have extra text, denoting how the item effects basic attacks on allies. Blade of the Ruined King: Heal 8% of Current Health. Bloodrazor: Heal 4% of max Health. Elixir of Sorcery: No effect on allies. Frozen Mallet: No effect on allies. Guinsoo's Rageblade: Can stack on allies. Guinsoo's Rage applies to on-hit effects that heal targets. Iceborn Gauntlet: Icy Zone triggers underneath the ally, and still damages enemies. Spellblade applies as a heal at 50% effectiveness. Kirchei's Shard: Energized Strike heals at 50% effectiveness on allies. Lich Bane: Spellblade applies at 50% effectiveness on allies. Muramana: Shock consumes Mana to increase heals at the same effectiveness as it would on enemies. Nashor's Tooth: On-hit damage is applied as a heal. Phage: Rage applies on ally-targeted basic attacks. Rapid Firecannon: Firecannon heals at 50% effectiveness on allies, and Firecannon's bonus range is applied at 100% effectiveness. Recurve Bow: Bonus on-hit damage applies at 50% effectiveness. Runaan's Hurricane: Wind's Fury will target allies if an ally is basic attacked. Sheen: Spellblade applies at 50% effectiveness on allies. Skirmisher's Saber: Challenging Smite applies a 3 second heal-over-time on allies at 50% effectiveness. Statikk Shiv: Shiv Lightning's damage applies at 50% effectiveness on allies. Shiv Lightning will damage nearby enemies if triggered on an ally. The Black Cleaver: Rage applies on ally-targeted basic attacks. Trinity Force: Spellblade applies at 50% effectiveness on allies. Wit's End: Bonus on-hit magic damage is converted into a heal at 50% effectiveness.

Q - Chastise: Cost: 70 Cooldown: 14 Seconds Range: 550 Enemy Targeted Non-Projectile Debuff

Zafria brands the target enemy Champion, causing them to take an additional 10/12/14/16/18% damage for the next 3 seconds.

Chastise enables Zafria's ADC to trade more effectively. It also provides a window of burst for Zafria's allies that will be massively rewarding if properly taken advantage of. Chastise's strong effect is balanced by its high early Mana cost and relatively high cooldown, compared to the duration. Chastise leaves a yellow Eye of Horus on top of the enemy.

Chastise is not a projectile and cannot be nullified. Chastise persists on a target, even if it becomes untargetable or invulnerable.

W - Piety: Cost: 60 Cooldown: 15 Seconds Range: 0 (Auto Attack enhancer) Self-Targeted Buff

For the next 5/5.5/6/6.5/7 seconds, Zafria's basic attacks pulse with light energy, healing allies near her target, and damaging enemies near her target, for 50% damage and healing.

Piety enables Zafria to AOE heal while her Ultimate is down. The range at which Piety heals and damages is 300 units. Piety will still damage enemies if the original attack targeted an ally, and vice versa. Piety will have no effect if a Basic Attack is nullified.

E - Benediction: Cost: 70/75/80/85/90 Cooldown: 15 Seconds Cast Range: 500 Tether Range: 20000/Global Ally-Targeted Tether

Zafria channels a divine prayer for up to 5 seconds. While channeling, the target ally will gain 10/15/20/25/30% Attack and Movement Speed, and deal 6/8/10/12/14% increased damage. For every second that an ally is benefited by Benediction, they gain a stack of Apotheosis, increasing healing received from Zafria by 10% for 6 seconds.

Benediction is a way for Zafria to heal allies from a potentially large distance. However, Benediction leaves Zafria extremely vulnerable, as she can take no other actions while channeling. The channel will be ended if Zafria moves, Basic Attacks, or casts an ability. Benediction's infinite tether range can also create unique circumstances where Zafria can heal allies from across the map if properly coordinated.

R - Surge of Light: Cost: 100 Cooldown: 140/120/100 Seconds Cast Range: 0 (Self Buff) Self-Targeted Buff

Zafria gains 70/80/90% Attack Speed for 6/8/10 seconds. During this time, Zafria's max Attack Speed is increased to 4. Additionally, Zafria will be healed for 25% of all healing done by Zafria during Surge of Light.

Surge of Light is somewhat of a callback to pre-re-reworked Kog'Maw. Surge of Light is Zafria's only way to heal herself in her kit. Surge of Light provides a large healing opportunity for Zafria, where she would optimally be basic attacking allies the entire time. This potential is further amplified by Piety, which can lead to a massive healing window. Zafria glows in white and grows angelic wings during Surge of Light.

Conclusion Zafria is a Champion that I thought of over a year ago while spending Christmas with my family in Kingman, Arizona. She is the first Champion that I've posted on the boards, and I hope that you enjoy her kit! It would be an absolute honor to see my idea partially brought to light in game.
