(Champion Concept) Oculus, the Eye of Darkin

I've been thinking a lot about Darkins, trying to conclude a theory. That brings me here, to another topic I think about: Champion and Skin Concepts. So on that note, I bring you: Oculus, Eye of the Darkin.

Oculus is a hybrid fighter, balancing melee and ranged attacks. This cylcopic Darkin uses the power of the sun, switching between his clypeus, a weapon that are dual arm-blades that can combine to form a shield with a powerful eye infused with his own power.

Passive: Every auto-attack Oculus shifts his formations on his clypeus, between a sword slash and a shield blast. Melee attacks provide a 5-20% critical strike chance scaling of level and his ranged attacks mark his enemies with sun. When damaged by an auto attack or spell, this mark damages for an extra 15% of whatever hits. This also applies a 10% slow. Q Ability: Oculus dashes to his target, then swings his blades in an arc, damaging nearby enemies and applying on hit effects. W Ability: Oculus forms a shield formation for 1 second and deflects all incoming particles, sending them backwards dealing 75% damage. E Ability: Oculus has a short delay, before blinking to a target area, providing an AOE stun in a circle. R Ability: Oculus charges sunlight for one second, then bends sunlight to deliver decimating blast in a circle around him, complete with swirling sands, slowing enemies by 35% and applying on hit affects . (My idea is that this coordinates well with deathfire touch)

Oculus can be played as a top laner, mid laner, and jungler, built any way, as AP, AD, or tank. My idea was to give a champion a lot of flexibility and variation to be played differently.

Possible Skin Ideas: Demonic Oculus Mecha Oculus Void Oculus Shadow Flame Oculus Earthen Oculus Frejlord Oculus

Lore: Oculus is an ancient being, one of the five ancient warriors. He fought in ancient wars, creating extreme conditions with his bending of light. One of the earliest conditions, are the unknown Shurima vs Kumungu. Kumungu used to battle vigorously, using unknown toxins to slay the Shuriman Troops. One day, as they were battling Shurmia, for the final battle, Oculus arrived and decimated their troops with a single blast. In return, a statue was built for him, honoring the Eye of Darkin.

(I also put in a twist of lore) Unknown to any history, Oculus has appeared in other nations, destroying enemies of those who need Oculus most. The ancient battle of the BlackIce Tribe and Frostguard. The BlackIce are full of dark magicians of Black Magics involving Ice. Oculus came in and left all but one warrior of the BlackIce: Their leader, Glacies. A young woman came in, and slew the great Glacies, retaining his powers. She is known as...The Ice Witch.

So as you can see, I put a lot of effort in. Possibly worth, possibly wasted. I changed up belief of lore and twisted it, changing it to new things that can be used to make some sense in things, like the Frejlord Quinn Journal. Leave comments below and tell me if my work and research payed off.

Honestly I think this can be good...but needs work. Would anyone feel good playing Oculus?

Oculus seems amazingly unique in his/her design.

However you might want to change the E because Stealth has been known to be an unhealthy game mechanic with little to no counterplay. If I was laning against Oculus I would have to run away every time he/she uses their E which isn't fun to play against. A way to fix this could be change it to a delayed leap to a target location (similar to pantheon ult but much faster) This way there'd be counterplay and the person playing Oculus would feel better for landing this rather than the invisible stun for extra damage.

On another small note it seems like Oculus would be most optimal in current state as a support due to the tankiness, poke, and overall control They would have in botlane versus being top, mid, or jg.

Just a couple things that might help balance them. Sorry if anything came off as mean. I didn't mean it in that way in the slightest.

Have a nice day!

Agreed that the E should be some sort of leap attack rather than a stealth.

As for the lore... I'm not sure I see a link between his eye theme and anything else he does. Why does he only have one eye? What happened to the other one? Is his real eye perhaps used as part of his shield's arcane focus? And more importantly what exactly does he represent?

Aatrox shows up in several historic wars dating as far back as Valoran's recorded history, yes, and has been known to side with the underdogs and lead them to a triumphant victory sung about for generations to come, but that's not why he does it. As much as a hero he seems to be from an outside perspective, heroically saving the "good guys" and leading them to triumph against the "bad guys", but those with an inside perspective know nothing could be further from the truth. It doesn't matter what sort of moral high ground the losing side may have had before; the moment Aatrox steps into the fight, they're going to do things that go against everything they believed in, all in the name of "justice" or "freedom" or "DEMACI-" ahem "homeland". And even though history would hail them as heroes, all too late would they realize the atrocities they committed in the name of their cause, and that when all was said and done they were no better than the foe they so thoroughly crushed, in fact they may even considered themselves worse. History would never know what horrors the winners would have seen, nay, committed gleefully; but those who fight under Aatrox' banner would never forget.

But that's just what Aatrox does; that's what Aatrox is. He's not just a powerful warrior of an endangered race, he's an embodiment of the atrocity of war and a monument to the fact that there are ultimately none innocent in bloodshed. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me at all if in Valoran, the word "atrocity" had its origins in the name Aatrox. He's as much an eternal reminder of an unfortunate truth as he is a living thing, and I suspect to some degree that other Darkin may be like that.

Of course I could be wrong, and perhaps Aatrox could be the exception to his kind and not the rule, and maybe even his own kin (all four of them) fear him for what he's become, but that's kinda boring isn't it?

So yeah, I guess in short we need to figure out what it is exactly Oculus represents. You say he one-shots entire armies on a regular basis, yes, but why exactly does he do that, and for what purposes does he save one side yet destroy another? Given his precedent, the fact that he's done what he does more than once throughout Valoran's history isn't really much of a twist, the twist would have to be the "why" he does what he does.
