Argo, the Iron Spectre
Description:
The main reason why I started playing League of Legends was because of wanting to play as
. The first time I saw him, that was when I signed up. I even saved my IP until I had enough to get Corki. I never even thought about buying runes or leveling Masteries. Just get the pilot flying as soon as possible.
Now, when I read his lore, it said that he use to be part of a squadron called the Screaming Yipsnakes. Corki was well known by these Yipsnakes for remaining cool under the fire and loved nothing more but a good dog fight in the morning. When the League of Legends was formed, the Squadron was disbanded and Corki was forced into retirement. Cut the Engines, Clip the Wings. Then he eventually joined the League to bring his ace piloting skills back in the fight. But what about the rest of the squadron? What are they doing now since their disband? Will they ever get back together? I'd like to see them do. Join Corki in the League of Legends. Form a team of 5 (or in Hexakill's case, 6) ace pilots with different roles in the skies. I'm gonna try to create each pilot concept.
This first one is Argo. He pilots an attacker class aircraft that can transform into an AC-130 airplane to rain even more death from above and supply his allies with airdrops. Due to his size, he's made to take a lot of damage to block the fire.
Stats: Attack - 50% Health - 90% Magic - 50%
Attributes: Primary - Mage Secondary - Support
Abilities: Passive - Machine Gun Pod Argo is equipped with a Gun Pod that auto fires against a nearby target with the highest health, independent from Argo's main target. This only deals 2 true damage per second and lowers the target's armor and magic resist by 1% every second up to 10 stacks.
First Ability - Unguided Shrapnel Bomb Argo shoots a bomb pod that deals magic damage upon landing and bursts out shrapnels that deal physical damage through targets they hit. Each shrapnel's damage is reduced as they hit a target. (The detonation is not instant. Each shot fires a lobe projectile so enemies will have time to move out of detonation range depending on how far the bomb is shot). Magic damage upon landing reduces magic resist by 20% for 4 seconds, and each shrapnel reduces armor by 10% for 4 seconds.
Second Ability - Supply Drop Argo drops a crate of supplies from the back of his ship that gives mana and health to an ally that moves over it. These can be stolen from enemies, however.
Third Ability - Bomb Pods
Argo selects a target to drop a bomb pod. Each pod lands on their target and detonates at a small radius, dealing magic damage to enemies within radius and slowing their movement speed by 30-40% for 2 seconds. (This also fires a lobe projectile but moves slightly faster). (Like
's Missile Barrage, this has an ammunition system that loads one bomb every 2 seconds up to 4 bombs at once). Shooting a bomb will not force Argo to face at the direction of fire but it will slightly lower his movement speed as the bomb fires.
Ultimate - Iron Spectre Argo raises altitude and transforms his ship into a larger aircraft, capable of flying over terrain with ability enhancements, all at the cost of 50% of his movement speed.
- By raising altitude, all of Argo's attacks have 50% bonus range.
- Due to the increased size, Argo has 10% bonus armor, magic resist, and health.
- Unguided Shrapnel Bombs have 5% additional detonation range.
- Supply Drop can drop 4 supply crates at the same time. 2 supply crates give mana while the other 2 gives health.
- Bomb Pods will not slow Argo's movement and have a 5% increased detonation range.
- Argo is immune to being knocked airborne (Cause he's already airborne)
- If Argo is killed while Iron Spectre is active, he will crash land at a location in front of him, dealing true damage to enemies within the explosion. (You can control where he lands with limited steering simply by moving the cursor, much like how
's Unstoppable Onslaught has limited steering as he is charging.)
Special Passive I - Top Ace Yipsnake If at least one fellow ace pilot from the Yipsnakes is on the same team, whichever pilot gets the most kills get 5 additional gold per kill and 10% bonus Influence Points at the end of the match.
Special Passive II - Attacker Argo deals 5% more damage against ground targets.
Synergy:
-
Works well with:
The Yipsnakes work as a team. Argo can help slow Corki's targets so he can continue shooting them down with gatling gun, with the addition of Machine Gun Pod to lower their defenses so Corki's shots can deal tons of damage, both attack and magic.
Argo provides air support for Heimerdinger as he deploys his turrets. Heimerdinger can also use CH-2 Electron Storm Grenade so Argo to slow or stun enemies to make it easier for Argo to drop bombs at their positions.
Rumble needs to get close to use Flamespitter. Argo can move closer to lower the magic resist of Rumble's Targets with his Machine Gun Pod. That'll leave their enemies exposed and cooked. -
Struggles against:
Even if Argo can fly high, he still goes blind due to Paranoia. He can't provide air support if he can't see anything down below. He'll only see clouds blocking his view.
Argo's size increase when using Iron Spectre makes him a vulnerable target for Jinx's Super Mega Death Rocket. He could take serious damage upon impact even if the size is protecting him. Size doesn't matter.
If Argo uses Iron Spectre to fly up, Yasuo won't be needing Steel Tempest to send him in the air to use Last Breath, well cause Argo is already in the air.
Tips:
- Playing as Argo
Take point when fleeing from fights. You can drop supplies for your teammates to collect especially when they are low on mana and health. Keep your distance in team fights. Using Iron Spectre will give you enough range to assist your team at the collision point of the fight. Do not roam alone unless you know for sure the area is safe from junglers and assassins. Stick behind a teammates and watch your back.
- Playing against Argo.
Argo isn't really effective from behind. During team fights, try surrounding him from both sides. Iron Spectre leaves a big opening to strike Argo. As soon as he flies in the air, hit him with everything you got. Keep an eye out for Argo's supply crates. As soon as you see one, steal it. Assassins are best at stealing those crates.
Lore: Ever since the disbanding of the Screaming Yipsnakes, one of the attacker pilots, Argo had formed a business where civilians from all over Valoran can be transported from one place to another through airborne transport. As people take off in his transportation aircraft, they like to fly over the Fields of Justice so they can get the view of the battle taking place. Argo had to use caution due to possible collisions against the attacks taking place.
He does pretty well at dodging the attacks. It was like back in the old days with the Squadron when he at to get in low to drop bombs to enemies or supplies to his allies. There was a time where he was daydreaming so much that he accidentally dropped the civilian cargo into the battlefield. Everyone down there were confused. The civilians were of course furious at his actions. The items were at least recovered but some of them were damaged. It lead him being charged for it and had him suspended. His actions even cancelled a match after someone's dirty underwear fell on the head of a
Swift Scout.
Getting back on the airplane, he continued flying over the Fields of Justice for the civilians to view for a match. Suddenly a
Loose Cannon shot his plane with a Super Mega Death Rocket, leading him to crash land in the middle of a match. This caused another cancellation of a match but this time, Argo wasn't charged for it. Some civilians were hurt but none of them were killed thanks to Argo's piloting skills. This lead to the conclusion that flying over the Fields of Justice is not a good idea. Fans were upset but they understood the safety concerns for civilian transportation.
But the disasters didn't stop there. There were reports of Zuan Agents and Noxian Spies infiltrating the airplane. Some of them were threatening to destroy the airplane by the time it reaches its destination. Others had a target in the transport that they had to assassinate. Some of them were planning an attack or an assassination of upper class individuals in Piltover and Demacia. When Argo noticed someone with a gun in their hand, he began spinning the airplane just to get the gunner knocked out against the floors and walls. The gunman was arrested but Argo was forced to ban the use of airborne transportation. Argo was left without a job afterwards.
There was nothing Argo can do with his piloting skills. Nothing. At least until he learned that a former
Screaming Yipsnake pilot became part of the League of Legends. So he decided to join alongside him. It'll be like the good old days, but with newer people and a bigger challenge.
"Are you kidding me? It's gonna take weeks to get this thing fixed!" - Argo, after his plane was shot down
Appearance:
Argo flies a ship that's slightly bigger than
's ROFL Copter. When he uses Iron Spectre, Parts form to make it two times the size. It sort of looks like an AC-130 except not as big (Because if it was really an AC-130, it would be too big for the game). You got your typical weaponry. Machine Guns, Bombs, and that's pretty much what it has.
Skins:
- Civilian Pilot Argo
- Special Forces Argo
- Space Dog Argo
Sneak Peek Trick:
(Before, I had a thread talking about the many sneak peek tricks that we can think of that Riot can do before the champion reveal like how
had her Graffiti all over
Fat Hands's champion info.)
As said in the Lore, he flew over the Fields of Justice just for people to watch. At some point of the match, he will fly over the battlefield and drop the people's cargo which will fall all over the place. Some of them are baggage which deals physical damage upon who it lands on, and of course clothing, food and underwear that land and reveal players where ever they hide. It can even reveal stealth. If the plane is around during the match, if you type /r as Jinx when Super Mega Death Rocket is available, Jinx will fire her rocket upward right at the airplane, forcing it to crash land in the center of the map, killing anyone standing in the center and forces everyone to move around the crash site. You can hear the explosion from above, hear it falling, then hear it crash land. Then you see the civilians and the pilot, Argo himself pop out of the ship. The ship remains crash landed throughout the entire match. You can tell if Argo is over the Fields of Justice simply by looking at a shadow on the ground in shape of an airplane.

That's all I have for now but I'm planning on making more of these concepts. I hope Riot could make another ace pilot champion someday. Maybe someone who rivals the Yipsnakes. Let me read what you guys think down below.
was the reason i started League! I don't usually play him though!
