Many of the new skins being released obviously have unfair particle effects and are constantly complained about. I recall riot making a change to Twisted Fated wild cards on his soul stealer skin I believe it was due to them being tricky to see yet all these new skins tend to have similar complaints. The fact that there is even a banned list of skins you can use in professional play must mean there's some unfair skins and why not make a setting where everyone on your screen is default or only you can only see the skin you're on champion is using? This way if arcade ezreal fancy lights and smaller q is throwing you off you can see him in his default skin to make the gsme more fair and help that no skins give any advantages for example csgo the skins are fun but in no way can contribute to better play :) make this happen k thanks good shiz

So... basically make skins client-side only instead of global?

Theoretically doable but problematic in practice, from what I know of network-based game programming.

Most skins are programmed to be like completely different champions with their kits and stats being kept and values to apply scores on those specific champions.

Like if there was a "turn off" option and you turned off dj sona you'd probably crash your game since you disabled your champion. Some skins have too big of an impact (particles, DJ sona music, kit interactions, character interactions, VO differences) to simply "revert" to base skins ingame.

I don't think the game really can tell the difference between a character using a skin or the character being a base skin since they're both, skins and the classic skins are still selectable skins in champion select, only difference is one is free.

In normal play there isn't a big deal for most skins, people get used to them or if the skin causes framerate issues riot disables and patches it (dark star thresh).

Only in competitive where the littlest things from 1 CS to an aureloin sol bug would result in massive reactions and viable complaining with how much money and competitivity there is. If somebody can't tell the difference between a blood moon elise Q or an E than yea they can screw a perfect professional player over by a skin just causing a brain fart, and it was fixed.

Plus who the hell would buy skins if people won't even see them?

there is an option to hide "eye candy", maybe you should try that out on these skins and see whatsup
